Enzyme-assisted extraction (EAE) method is one of the most environmentally friendly methods of enzyme application in the extraction of bioactive compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum temperature and time required in the extraction of anthocyanin compounds from purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) with and without ?-L-arabinofuranosidase (AbfA) - assisted. The AbfA enzyme was obtained from Saccharomyces cerevisiae recombinant strain BJ1824 contain pYHMI-Af plasmid. The optimum temperature and time in the extraction of anthocyanin compound with and without  ?-L-arabinofuranosidase  from purple sweet potato were performed on the 40, 50, 60 and 700C; and 150, 180, 210 minutes. The extraction was done by ethanol solvent of 60,32% (v/v) acidified with citric acid of 2,39% (b/v). The measurement of anthocyanin levels using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at 527 nm and 700 nm wavelengths at pH 1,0 and 4,5. The optimum condition of non-enzyme-assisted extraction was at 600C for 210 minutes, with the anthocyanin levels of 26,3842 mg/L; while with the AbfA enzyme-assisted at 500C for 180 minutes, with the anthocyanin levels of 28,2056 mg/L. The extraction with enzyme-assisted resulted the anthocyanin levels of 6,90% higher than without the using of enzyme

The study about determination of Pb and Cr content in nile fishes (Oreochromis niloticus) found atEstuaria Dam (Badung River Downtream) has been carried out. Some samples were taken every week duringhalf a month. Five grams of dried sample was destructed with a mixture of 10 mL concentrated H2SO4 and40 mL concentrated HNO3. The composition of Pb and Cr in the samples was analyzed Atomic AbsorptionSpectrofotometer using Standar Addition Method. The results showed that the content of Pb in the nile fishes was about 10.1910-10.7710 mg/kg wetsamples and it was over the maximum level of 2.0 mg/kg. On the other hand, the content of Cr wasfound(1.3460-2.9640 mg/kg wet samples) to be out of level as well (maximum 0.4 mg/kg)

Lidah mertua plant  has the potential as a natural antioxidant and the antioxidant activity of a plant depends on the number of active compounds extracted. This study aims to determine the yield, total phenol content, total flavonoid content, and IC50 value of lidahmertua leaf extract macerated with ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane as solvents, and to determine the compounds contained in the lidahmertua leaf extract which have activity antioxidants. The results of the phytochemical test of the lidahmertua leaf extract showed positive results containing polyphenolic compounds, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, and steroids. The maceration yield of each solvent was 12.13%, 10.15% and 8.11%, respectively. While the measurement results of the total phenol content of each solvent were 6.96; 3.67; and 1.94 mg GAE/g. The results of the measurement of the flavonoid content of each solvent were 5.82; 3.28; and 1.71 mg QE/g. The IC50 values for each solvent were 162.135 mg/L, 184.561 mg/L and 206.265 mg/L. The extract which has the highest total phenol content, total flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity is in ethanol solvent

The Community Service activity about the manner of making natural mosquito antilarvae liquids from Piper betle L leaf was conducted on the 24st of October 2010 to the mothers of PKK of Tibubiu village, Kerambitan subdistrict, Tabanan district. Making natural mosquito antilarvae liquids from Piper betle L leaf used the simple formulation technique. The liquids were made by using petroleum as a solvent and Piper betle L leaf as a antilarvae agent. The result of this activity and evaluation showed that the mosquito antilarvae liquids product is as good as chemical agent like “abate”. All participants showed enthusiastic during the activity and they will try to make these liquids. All participants, moreover understand about making liquids and they want to try at home. Such public service is interesting to because the peoples have improved knowledge, skill, and possibility to open of new entrepreneur in village so that it can be vacancy and increase income to community

The Balinese plant andong (Cordyline terminalis Kunth) has anti-inflammatory properties. The focus of this research was to determine whether andong leaf extract has anti-inflammatory properties and is effective against carrageenan-induced edema in rat soles. In this study, carrageenan was used to induce inflammation in the soles of Wistar rats. 25 rats were divided into five treatment groups. Group I was given aquadest as the control; group II was given diclofenac sodium at a dose of 4.5 mg/kgbw as a drug control; and groups III, IV and V were given ethanol extract of andong leaves at doses of 150 mg/kgbw, 300 mg/kgbw, and 600 mg/kgbw orally as test groups. For six hours, the inflammation volume was measured using a plethymometer. One-way ANOVA was used to test differences between the treatment groups. The results showed that the ethanol extract of andong leaves had the highest anti-inflammatory activity in the six-hour period when given at doses of 150 mg/kgbw (36.35% 0.02), 300 mg/kgbw (26.30% 0.20), and 600 mg/kgbw (20.67% 0.16) with a significant difference (p < 0.05) compared to the negative control (86.84% 0.092), but this was not significantly different from the positive control (22.21% 0.01). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that a dose of 600 mg/kgbw is the most effective in reducing inflammation. Keywords: Anti-inflammatory, Red andong leaf, Carrageenan, Wistar rat, Edem
