Insights into the Politico-Administrative Dimension of Interwar Romania. A Perspective of the Gustian Monographic Sociology

    Get PDF
In this study, we intend to present, using a socio-historical approach, the political and administrative aspects of the interwar Romanian society and state, as it has been investigated, from the perspective of monographic methodology, by the Sociological School of Bucharest, headed by Professor Dimitrie Gusti. The article aims at highlighting the existing legislative conflict between the traditional local government organization in the “old” Counties of FăgăraÅŸ and Vrancea, for example, and the modern administrative codes, adopted after 1864, by the “new” centralized Romanian state. Furthermore, we also highlight the negative perception of the population in the Romanian villages of Bessarabia and Transylvania (who lived under the tsarist and Austro-Hungarian rule until World War I) on the deficient administrative functioning of the interwar Romanian state. Although various projects of administrative reform attempted to correct these shortcomings, within the interwar period studied, excessive bureaucratization of the state and poor salaries of the public servants remained constant elements of the Romanian administrative political life

Morphological investigation of calcium phosphates electrodeposited on Ti in the presence of tartaric acid

    Get PDF
The electrochemical deposition method was employed to deposit calcium phosphates on Ti substrates in the presence of different concentrations of tartaric acid. Scanning electron microscopy was used to investigate the morphology of the obtained specimens. The micrographs indicate that as the tartaric acid concentration increases, the size and number of calcium phosphate irregular structures increases as well. At the highest concentration a new morphology is evidenced, represented by flat ordered structures with high aspect ratio

Incubation-based hydroxyapatite synthesis method using shells as Ca2+ source

    Get PDF
Hydroxyapatite, the well-known calcium phosphate, was obtained on the surface of shells fragments by partial conversion of the latter, which served both as template and also provided the calcium ions required for synthesis. Confirmation of hydroxyapatite formation was acquired by recording and analyzing X-ray diffraction patterns. The degree to which the phosphate ions were consumed during the incubation-based synthesis was determined using a phosphate minicolorimeter, and the results indicate that a nucleation process takes place in the first 4 hours

Metal content of seashells from black sea's Romanian coast

The main metals from various species of seashells, commonly found on the Black Sea’s Romanian coast, were determined by using microwave plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (MP-AES) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). As expected, calcium was the main component, followed by magnesium, aluminum, iron and manganese

Investigation of the corrosion inhibition properties of new phenyl aldehyde organic layers functionalized with different amino alcohols electrodeposited on copper

    Get PDF
Phenyl aldehyde layers were formed on copper foils by electro-assisted diazonium reactions and subsequently functionalized with either amino-2-propanol or 2-amino-1-butanol. The anticorrosion properties of the two obtained organic films 2-[(phenylmethylidene)amino]butan-1-ol and (phenylmethylidene)amino-propan-2-ol were evaluated in aerated buffer acetate solution pH == 3.5. The electrochemical corrosion inhibition properties were investigated after different immersion times using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization analysis (Tafel). Contact angle measurement confirms the hydrophobic nature of the new organic coatings and layer stability after immersion in buffer. The results showed that both developed layers provided good anticorrosion protection and the highest inhibition was achieved using 2-[(phenylmethylidene)amino]butan-1-ol coating on copper, which makes it a useful device for anticorrosion protection. Moreover, correlations between the molecular structures of the corrosion inhibitors and their protecting efficiencies have been established

CO2 methanation catalyzed by oriented MoS2 nanoplatelets supported on few layers graphene

[EN] Powders of molybdenum disulfide platelets strongly grafted on graphene have been prepared by pyrolysis of ammonium alginate containing adsorbed various proportions of (NH4)(2)MoS4. After pyrolysis, formation of MoS2 supported on graphene was determined by XRD and electron microscopy and spectroscopic techniques. MoS2/G exhibits catalytic activity for the methanation of CO2, the performance being optimal at intermediate loadings. The catalytic activity of sharply contrasts with that of bulk MoS2 that promotes the reverse water gas shift, affording CO as the main product. Characterization of the spent MoS2/G catalyst shows the partial conversion of external MoS2 into MoO3. Comparison of the catalytic activity of MoS2/G with that of MoO3/G shows that the latter is less efficient, but more selective for CO2 methanation.Vasile I. THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL EDUCATION TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE DIGITAL CONSUMER IN THE ERA OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY

A more sustainable economy and society presume more sustainable behavior in terms of consumption. A change in this behavior could be brought by a change in demand. In other words, a change in the demand could be facilitated by one’s financial and digital education. The circular economy implies the reuse and recycling of products and materials over and over again; thus, the life cycle of products and materials is extended. Engaging in recycling should have future benefits. Recycling behavior and sustainability are interrelated, the recycling process is viewed as a key issue in sustainability and prevails as pro-environmental consumer behavior. It is already known that significant changes in individual behavior are essential for society to move toward sustainability. This paper aims to explore from a quantitative perspective if digital education has an impact on consumer behavior in terms of sustainability in the era of the circular economy. This research is useful for all providers, consumers, and stakeholders involved in different businesse
