Cauchy integral and singular integral operator over closed Jordan curves

    Get PDF
This paper is mostly a review paper. It contains a description of old and recent results concerning the regularity conditions on a Jordan curve in the plane that imply the boundedness of the singular integral operator as well as the boundary behavior of the Cauchy type integral. These results are of significance for boundary value problems in domains with non-smooth and non-rectifiable boundaries. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Wien

Folate transport by prawn hepatopancreas brush-border membrane vesicles.

The transport system of folic acid (Pte-Glu) b y brush-borde r membrane vesicles (BBMV ) isolated from prawn (Penaeus japonicm) hepatopancreas , was studied by measuring the uptake of Pte-Glu . This uptake was found to have two components , intravesicular transport and membrane binding . Membrane binding was not affected by the presence of a trans - membrane pH-gradient at a short incubation period . However , a transmembrane pH - gradient increased membrane binding at 6 0 min. The transpor to f Pte-Glu appeared to be carrier-mediated , was stimulated by an inwardly proton gradient (p H 5. 5 outside , 7. 4 inside ) and was unaffected by a sodium-gradient . The relationship between pH gradient-driven Pte-Glu uptake and medium Pte-Glu concentration followed saturating Michaelis-Menten kinetics . Eadie-Hofste e representation of the pH gradient-driven Pte-Glu uptake indicated a single transport system with a Km of 0.3 7 ^ Man d Vmax of 1.06pmol/mg protein/15s . These findings indicate that BBM V isolated from prawn hepatopancreas possesses a Pte - Glu transport system similar to that described in mammalian intestine

Integration over non-rectifiable curves and Riemann boundary value problems

In this paper we introduce an alternative way of defining the curvilinear Cauchy integral over non-rectifiable curves in the case of complex functions of one complex variable. Especially the jump behavior on the boundary is considered. As an application, solvability conditions of the Riemann boundary value problem are derived on very weak conditions to the boundary. Besides the complex case the consideration can be extended to the theory of Douglis algebra valued functions. © 2011 Elsevier Inc

Synthesis and Luminescence Modulation of Pyrazine-Based Gold(III) Pincer Complexes

    Get PDF
The first examples of pyrazine-based gold(III) pincer complexes have been synthesized; their intense photoemissions can be modified by interactions with the non-coordinating pyrazine-N atom. Luminescence modulation is possible without the need for altering the ligand framework. Emissions shift from red (77 K) to blue (298 K) due to thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF

Representativeness in randomised clinical trials supporting acute coronary syndrome guidelines.

This project has received funding to cover the electronic case report form from the Balearic Society of Cardiology (Sociedad Balear Cardiología) through the ‘Bernat Nadal Ginard’ grant. Open access has been partly granted by the LIBERI PROGRAM 2023 of the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IdISBa).AIMS Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are published to guide the management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). We aimed to critically appraise the representativeness and standard of care of randomised clinical trials (RCTs) supporting CPGs for ACS. METHODS AND RESULTS American and European CPGs for ST- and non-ST-elevation ACS were screened to extract all references (n = 2128) and recommendations (n = 600). Among the 407 primary publications of RCTs (19.1%), there were 52.6% and 73.2% recruiting patients in North America and Europe, respectively, whereas other regions were largely underrepresented (e.g., 25.3% RCTs recruited in Asia). There was 68.6% RCTs enrolling patient with ACS, whereas the remaining 31.4% did not enroll any patient with ACS. There was underrepresentation of some important subgroups, including elderly, female (29.9%) and non-white patients (<20%). The incidence and type of reperfusion reported in these RCTs were not reflective of current clinical practice (the percentage of patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) among all RCTs was 42.7%; whereas for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction patients, the number of participants who underwent fibrinolysis was 3.3-fold higher than those who underwent primary PCI). All-cause mortality in these RCTs was 11.9% in RCTs with a follow-up ≤1 year. CONCLUSION RCTs supporting CPGs for ACS are not fully representative of the diversity of the ACS population and their current standard of care. While some of these issues with representativeness may be explained by how evidence has been accrued over time, efforts should be made by trialists to ensure that the evidence supporting CPGs is representative of the wider ACS population.S

On the Lebesgue measure of Li-Yorke pairs for interval maps

We investigate the prevalence of Li-Yorke pairs for C2C^2 and C3C^3 multimodal maps ff with non-flat critical points. We show that every measurable scrambled set has zero Lebesgue measure and that all strongly wandering sets have zero Lebesgue measure, as does the set of pairs of asymptotic (but not asymptotically periodic) points. If ff is topologically mixing and has no Cantor attractor, then typical (w.r.t. two-dimensional Lebesgue measure) pairs are Li-Yorke; if additionally ff admits an absolutely continuous invariant probability measure (acip), then typical pairs have a dense orbit for f×ff \times f. These results make use of so-called nice neighborhoods of the critical set of general multimodal maps, and hence uniformly expanding Markov induced maps, the existence of either is proved in this paper as well. For the setting where ff has a Cantor attractor, we present a trichotomy explaining when the set of Li-Yorke pairs and distal pairs have positive two-dimensional Lebesgue measure.Comment: 41 pages, 3 figure
