EROTIC OF THE OVERFLOW. DIAGNOSIS: HANNAH WILKE

La crítica a la ausencia de la mujer en el ámbito social y artístico de la época dominado por el discurso patriarcal, la descolonización y el reclamo del poder sobre el cuerpo femenino, el posicionamiento de la mujer como sujeto hablante del discurso y la reivindicación del género, fueron algunos de los puntos cardinales de la lucha política en el seno de la primera generación de artistas feministas de los años 70. En este contexto, la artista norteamericana Hannah Wilke (1940-1993), consciente de esta dinámica esencial impuesta por la falocracia de la época, se sirvió del erotismo y la ironía para articular su discurso artístico y reafirmarse en la autorrepresentación. Haciéndonos eco de ello, nuestra investigación va a fluctuar entre dos ideas complementarias: una erótica del desbordamiento y un desbordamiento de lo erótico. In that context, the American artist Hannah Wilke (1940-1993), aware of this essential dynamics imposed by phallocracy of the age, used eroticism and irony to articulate her artistic discourse and reaffirm the self. Echoing this, our research will fluctuate between two ideas: an erotic overflow and an overflow of the eroticism. Both issues, the excess as an erotic form, and the overwhelmed eroticism as a conventional female culturally configured form, will be the focus of our essay which will put attention on the oeuvre of Hannah Wilke

Feminine Visions Around the Space of the Artwork and the Relationship of Home-Body/Body-Home

Desde una perspectiva iconográfica, la relación cuerpo-casa/casa-cuerpo, continúa siendo una constante discursiva en el imaginario artístico y femenino contemporáneo. Lo que llamamos hoy construcción cultural de la subjetividad femenina ya estaba presente en el trabajo de artistas, historiadoras y críticas de arte del feminismo de los años setenta. Al respecto, la presente investigación propone exponer a través de la obra de mujeres artistas (principalmente: Eulalia Valldosera y Marina Abramovic) los avances obtenidos en torno a la problemática del espacio subyugado a la estructura del hogar patriarcal, donde lo femenino se define en las actividades y en el trabajo doméstico, y donde lo público tiene valor significativo a costa de restar trascendencia al espacio de lo privado cuando se asocia a la mujer.From an iconographic perspective, the relation of home-body/body-home is still a common topic in the discourse on contemporary art and feminine imagery. What is known today as the cultural creation of feminine subjectivity was already present in the work of artists, historians, and art critics in the feminism of the seventies. This investigation analyzes the progress achieved through the work of women artists (mainly: Eulalia Valldosera and Marina Abramovic) in relation to the discussion on the subjugated space in the structure of patriarchal household where femininity is defined by activities and domestic work and where the public has a significant value because it diminishes transcendence the private space associated with women

Discursive Strategies in The Ideation of an Artistic Project Based on the Biography and the Work of Rachel Ruysch

En el presente artículo trataremos de recuperar la figura de Rachel Ruysch (La Haya, 1664 - Ámsterdam, 1750) y su legado. Rastrearemos datos historiográficos de su vida y su obra, partiendo del análisis del cuadro del pintor holandés Jan van Neck, que lleva el título de Lección de anatomía del Dr. Frederick Ruysch (1683), para vincular después su trabajo con nuestra obra artística a través del anacronismo crítico como estrategia. Así pues, desde una dimensión pictórica, interdisciplinar y limítrofe con otras fórmulas contemporáneas de la representación, reflexionaremos sobre la relación autobiografía-anacronismo como base metodológica para abordar cuestiones como la multiplicidad temporal y la discontinuidad de los relatos históricos en el espacio discursivo de lo femenino. En este sentido, explicaremos cómo la autobiografía nos permite encontrar vínculos con otros ámbitos de subjetividad para reivindicar así un imaginario feminista que nos ayude a reflexionar sobre la forma en que recibimos la cultura.This essay tries to recover the figure of Rachel Ruysch (The Hague, 1664 - Amsterdam, 1750) and her legacy. We will trace historical data of her life and work, making an analysis of the dutch painter Jan van Neck`s picture: Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Frederick Ruysch (1683). Through critical anachronism as a strategy we will try to link her work with our own artistic work. So that, from a pictorial dimension, interdisciplinary and bordering on other contemporary formulas of representation, we will reflect on the autobiography-anachronism relationship as a methodological basis to address issues such as temporal multiplicity and the discontinuity of historical accounts in the discursive space of the feminine. On this way, we will try to explain how autobiography allows us to find links with other areas of subjectivity in order to claim a feminist imaginary that helps us to understand the way we receive culture

Digital competence in university lecturers: a meta-analysis of teaching challenges

This meta-analysis (random effects) studies the self-perceived digital competence of university lecturers in university teaching, using 7470 lecturers from Europe and Latin America collected in K = 31 samples, with teaching experience of between 6 and 15 years. The effect size obtained from a moderate random effects model of r = −0.21 with a 99% confidence interval is significant, negative, and moderate, confirming the low competence level. The meta-regression results show that the area of knowledge plays an important role. The systematic review of the literature shows that the perception of ICTs is positive, while the level of competence is low, and there are institutional and training challenges to be solved

Towards a Typology of Visual Customer Engagement Behaviors (CEBs)

In today’s markets, the rise of social media channels has led to a dramatic influencing role for customers. Not satisfied with the passive role of being a receiver of firms’ offerings; customers proactively engage in engagement behaviors that influence other social actors embedded within networks. Recently, the digital world has been witnessing consistent technological advancements; hence the way customers influence others extends beyond written statements, to include visual content. Despite the acknowledged influence of visual compared to textual customer engagement behaviors (CEBs) in online contexts, a typology of forms of visual influence is yet unknown

Un álbum de recuerdos prestados: La fotografía de Google Street View como vestigio de pertenencia en la experiencia del desplazamiento migratorio

[EN] The present paper offers a reflection on the potential of the platform GOOGLE STREET VIEW as a tool of artistic mediation with the immigrant community. We disigned a workshop that proposes to make a virtual trip to the native land of the participants through this immense 3D photographic archive, creating an album of "borrowed memories" with images of significant landscapes for them. The change of the country of residence not only exposes the person to a different culture, it also deprives him of contact with places that keep memories of the events of his past. The intimate relationship between memory, identity and landscape, gives the images that portray these spaces a powerful emotional load, allowing the immigrant to tell their story from the stages of their past performance. In this sense, the activity we propose gives the opportunity to participants to recall their place of origin through the photographic landscape with the goal of restoring the continuity of their narrative identity, interrupted by the experience of displacement. Likewise, presenting the visual story to the companions allows sharing the mourning of uprooting, building new affective ties with the host environment.[ES] La presente comunicación ofrece una reflexión sobre el potencial de la plataforma GOOGLE STREET VIEW como herramienta de mediación artística dirigida al colectivo inmigrante. Desarrollamos una propuesta de taller que plantea realizar un viaje virtual a la tierra natal de los participantes a través de este inmenso archivo fotográfico 3D, creando un álbum de “recuerdos prestados” con las imágenes de los paisajes significativos para ellos. El cambio del país de residencia no sólo expone a la persona a una cultura diferente, también la priva del contacto con los lugares que guardan recuerdos de los acontecimientos de su pasado. La relación íntima entre la memoria, la identidad y el paisaje, dota a las imágenes que retratan estos espacios de una carga emocional muy potente, permitiendo al inmigrante contar su historia a partir de los escenarios de su actuación pasada. En este sentido, la actividad que proponemos da oportunidad a los participantes de rememorar su lugar de origen a través del paisaje fotográfico, restableciendo así la continuidad de su narrativa identitaria, interrumpida por la experiencia del desplazamiento. WEVAN: a mechanism for evidence creation and verification in VANETs

There are traffic situations (e.g. incorrect speeding tickets) in which a given vehicle’s driving behavior at some point in time has to be proved to a third party. Vehicle-mounted sensorial devices are not suitable for this matter since they can be maliciously manipulated. However, surrounding vehicles may give their vision on another one’s behavior. Furthermore, these data may be shared with the affected vehicle through VANETs. In this paper, a VANET-enabled data exchange mechanism called WEVAN is presented. The goal of this mechanism is to build and verify evidences based on surrounding vehicles (called witnesses) testimonies. Due to the short-range nature of VANETs, the connectivity to witnesses may be reduced with time – the later their testimonies are requested, the lower the amount of witnesses may be. Simulation results show that if testimonies are ordered 5 seconds later, an average of 38 testimonies may be collected in highway scenarios. Security models in Vehicular ad-hoc networks: a survey

The security and privacy issues of vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) must be addressed before they are implemented. For this purpose, several academic and industrial proposals have been developed. Given that several of them are intended to co-exist, it is necessary that they consider compatible security models. This paper presents a survey on the underlying security models of 41 recent proposals. Four key aspects in VANET security are studied, namely trust on vehicles, trust on infrastructure entities, existence of trusted third parties and attacker features. Propuesta de análisis de la Responsabilidad Social en una Pyme Rural del sector servicios

Hoy en día la Responsabilidad Social Corporativa se está volcando en todas las empresas a nivel mundial, el problema está en que no está pensada para todo tipo de ellas, ya que se centra más en profundidad en las grandes empresas. El objetivo de este trabajo es hacer una propuesta de análisis de la Responsabilidad Social en una empresa, más en concreto en una Pyme Rural del sector servicios y para ello se ha estudiado la importancia y el impacto que tienen este tipo de empresas en estos entornos y tras un intento de aplicación del método SROI observaremos los pros y contras con los que nos encontramos debido a estas características.<br /
