    Аналитическое описание порообразования при установившейся ползучести металлов

    На основании обобщения синтезной теории пластичности и ползучести аналитически описан процесс порообразования в металле во время установившейся ползучести. Получены соотношения между объемом микропор и деформацией установившейся ползучести при разных уровнях напряжения. Аналитически полученные результаты хорошо согласуются с экспериментальными.На основі узагальнення синтезної теорії пластичності і повзучості представлено аналітичний опис процесу пороутворення за усталеної повзучості металів. Отримано співвідношення між об’ємом мікропор і деформацією усталеної повзучості за різних рівнів напруження. Аналітичні результати добре узгоджуються з експериментальними.Using generalization of the synthetic theory of plasticity and creep, we provide the analytical description of void formation in a metal under steady-state creep conditions. We obtained the relations between the size of microvoids and the steady-state creep strain for various stress levels. Analytical results are in a good agreement with the available experimental data

    The fate of conformal symmetry in the non-linear Schr\"{o}dinger theory

    The free Schroedinger theory in d space dimensions is a non-relativistic conformal field theory. The interacting non-linear theory preserves this symmetry in specific numbers of dimensions at the classical (tree) level. This holds in particular for the Phi^4-theory in d = 2.     Ccaat/enhancer-binding protein delta (C/ebpδ): A previously unrecognized tumor suppressor that limits the oncogenic potential of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells

    CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein δ (C/EBPδ) is a transcription factor involved in growth arrest and differentiation, which has consequently been suggested to harbor tumor suppressive activities. However, C/EBPδ over-expression correlates with poor prognosis in glioblastoma and promotes genomic instability in cervical cancer, hinting at an oncogenic role of C/EBPδ in these contexts. Here, we explore the role of C/EBPδ in pancreatic cancer. We determined C/EBPδ expression in biopsies from pancreatic cancer patients using public gene-expression datasets and in-house tissue microarrays. We found that C/EBPδ is highly expressed in healthy pancreatic ductal cells but lost in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Furthermore, loss of C/EBPδ correlated with increased lymph node involvement and shorter overall survival in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patients. In accordance with this, in vitro experiments showed reduced clonogenic capacity and proliferation of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells following C/EBPδ re-expression, concurrent with decreased sphere formation capacity in soft agar assays. We thus report a previously unrecognized but important tumor suppressor role of C/EBPδ in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. This is of particular interest since only few tumor suppressors have been identified in the context of pancreatic cancer. Moreover, our findings suggest that restoration of C/EBPδ activity could hold therapeutic value in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, although the latter claim needs to be substantiated in future studies

    Forearm rotation improves after corrective osteotomy in patients with symptomatic distal radius malunion

    Objectives: Distal radius malunion can result in pain and functional complaints. One of the functional problems that can affect daily life is impaired forearm rotation. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the effect of corrective osteotomy for distal radius malunion on forearm rotation at 12 months after surgery. We secondarily studied the effect on grip strength, radiological measurements, and patient-reported outcome measurements (PROMs). Patients and methods: This cohort study analysed prospectively collected data of adult patients with symptomatic distal radius malunion. All patients underwent corrective osteotomy for malunion and were followed for 1 year. We measured forearm rotation (pronation and supination) and grip strength and analysed radiographs. PROMs consisted of the Patient-Rated Hand/Wrist Evaluation (PRWHE) questionnaire, Visual Analogue Scale for pain, and satisfaction with hand function. Results:Preoperative total forearm rotation was 112° (SD: 34°), of which supination of 49° (SD: 25°) was more impaired than pronation of 63° (SD: 17°). Twelve months after surgery, an unpaired Student's t-test showed a significant improvement of total forearm rotation to 142° (SD: 17°) (p &lt; 0.05). Pronation improved to 72° (SD: 10°), and supination to 69° (SD: 13°) (p &lt; 0.05). Grip strength, PROMs, as well as inclination and volar tilt on radiographs improved significantly during the first year after surgery (p &lt; 0.05). Conclusion: In patients with reduced forearm rotation due to distal radius malunion, corrective osteotomy is an effective treatment that significantly improves forearm rotation. In addition, this intervention improves grip strength, the PRWHE-score, pain, and satisfaction with hand function.</p

    EULAR points to consider for the management of difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis

    Objective: To develop evidence-based European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) points to consider (PtCs) for the management of difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (D2T RA). Methods: A EULAR Task Force was established comprising 34 individuals: 26 rheumatologists, patient partners and rheumatology experienced health professionals. Two systematic literature reviews addressed clinical questions around diagnostic challenges, and pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapeutic strategies in D2T RA. PtCs were formulated based on the identified evidence and expert opinion. Strength of recommendations (SoR, scale A-D: A typically consistent level 1 studies, D level 5 evidence or inconsistent studies) and level of agreement (LoA, scale 0-10: 0 completely disagree, 10 completely agree) of the PtCs were determined by the Task Force members. Results: Two overarching principles and eleven PtCs were defined concerning diagnostic confirmation of RA, evaluation of inflammatory disease activity, pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions, treatment adherence, functional disability, pain, fatigue, goal setting and self-efficacy and the impact of comorbidities. The SoR varied from level C to D. The mean LoA with the overarching principles and PtCs was generally high (8.4-9.6). Conclusions: These points to consider for D2T RA can serve as a clinical roadmap to support healthcare professionals and patients to deliver holistic management and more personalised pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapeutic strategies. High-quality evidence was scarce. A research agenda was created to guide future research
