    Get PDF
The present investigation deals with taxonomic observation of the trematode parasites Orientocreadium batrachoides [1], parasite of freshwater fish Channa gachua from Aurangabad district of M.S. India. Present worm resembles Orientocreadium  batrachoides [1] in having all essential morphological characters i.e. body is elongated, small, spinose, muscular Pharynx, crescent shaped cirrus pouch and follicular vitellaria, but the same differs from it in the following character Pre pharynx absent,  oral sucker smaller, ventral sucker larger,  Position of testes side by side and eggs elongated. Hence it is redescribed

Partial discharge detection in medium voltage stators using two independent detection schemes

"With the increasing concerns over the breakdown of insulation in electrical machines, development of a standard test procedure for insulation testing has gained importance. One of the dominant effects that contribute towards insulation breakdown is Partial Discharges (PD). In this work, an attempt is made to come up with an accurate, reliable and repeatable procedure to test medium voltage stators for PD." -- Abstract.(M.S.)--Michigan State University. Systematic observation of new pseudophyllidean tapeworm Senga [1] from Mastacembelus armatus

    Get PDF
The present investigation deals with the morpho-taxonomic observation of Pseudophyllidean tapeworm Senga satarensis Sp.Nov. collected from intestine of a Mastacembelus armatus at various places of Satara districts of (M.S.) India. The worm comes closer to all the known species of this genus in general topography of organ but differs due to scolex pear shaped, tapering anteriorly and broad posteriorly, rostellum medium, rounded, bearing 28-30 rostellar hooks, neck absent, mature proglottids six to seven times broader than long, testes 175-200 in numbers, scattered throughout the segment, cirrus pouch oval, ovary distinctly bilobed, vagina thin, runs posteriorly, genital pores oval in shape, vitellaria granular, uterus saccular and egg elongated

Histopathology of intestinal tissue of host Capra hircus caused by anoplocephalidean Cestode Stilesia

    Get PDF
The present work was conducted to study the histopathological changes in the intestine of Capra hircus, naturally infected with the Anoplocephalidean cestode, Stilesia (Railliet, 1892). It has been seen that the cestode Stilesia jadhavae. are not successful in adhering firmly to the intestinal tissue suffering that the worm is not having very close contact but they has developed very weak contact and attached loosly to crypts of Liberkhun. Not much effort is put by the parasite to survive in the intestine and the scolex is not so much helpful. It seems that the environment of the intestine is quite favourable for the worm Stilesia jadhavae which is rich in protein, glucose and fat content. So the worm finds it easy to absorb the same through tegument for grouth and nourishment

Flow and clogging behavior of a mixture of particles in a silo

We investigated the clogging behavior observed during the flow of aspherical particles from a silo in the presence of spherical particles of different sizes and proportions using flow visualization experiments and discrete element method (DEM) simulations. The size of the avalanche, essentially the tendency of clogging, exhibits non-monotonic dependence on the spherical particle volume fraction. For small enough content of spherical particles, the clogging tendency intensifies, whereas it reduces rapidly for high enough spherical particle fractions, with a minimum in between. The non-monotonic behavior is observed to persist over for different spherical particle sizes. The overall behavior is shown to arise due to competing effects between the localized total particle fraction influencing avalanche strength and mean size of the particles exiting the silo, influencing the probability of arch formation.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures, 1 tabl

Studies on glycogen profile of cestodes of Capra hircus

    Get PDF
The present investigation deals with the content of glycogen in different regions of cestode parasites of Capra hircus. The present study indicates that the amount of glycogen is lower in the immature proglottids of both the tapeworms than mature and gravid proglottids. The amount of glycogen present in all cestode parasites are some variable due to its size and habitat

CefixView: understanding trends in respiratory infections

    Get PDF
Background: Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) are one of the most common infections in humans of all age groups and an important cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. It can be classified as either acute or chronic. The bacterial species most commonly implicated in RTIs are Streptococcus pneumoniae, β-hemolytic Streptococci, Hemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, is a bactericidal β-lactam antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It is broad-spectrum and effective against gram-positive as well as gram-negative bacteria. The primary objective is to understand the preferences, considerations, and clinical perspectives that influence the choice of cefixime among healthcare professionals, particularly in the management of RTIs. Methods: It was a descriptive questionnaire-based cross-sectional study. The study was conducted among the physicians who attended the APICON-2024 and gave consent to participate in the study. A total 247 physicians registered their responses. Results: Cefixime is preferred in indications like UTI, pharyngitis, Otitis media, typhoid fever, LRTIs, shigellosis, and dental infections. All the doctors (100%) use cefixime for the treatment of RTIs with varied frequency. The primary factor which influences the choice of cefixime for the management of RTIs is the broad-spectrum activity (46.75%) followed by a better safety profile (27.87%) and cost-effectiveness (15.08%). Overall, 92.73% of doctors view cefixime as a safe and reliable choice for the management of RTIs. Conclusions: Cefixime has excellent tolerability and efficacy and is one of the most widely used drug in the treatment of respiratory infections

Object Detection Methodologies for Blind People

Vision is the most important sense. Image plays vital role in the human perception of the surrounding environment. However there are visually impaired people, industry has created a variety of computer vision products and services by developing new electronic technologies for the blind in order to overcome the difficulties. Digital image processing is the field which processes the digital image by using digital computer. An increasing interest in developing technologies attempts to help visually impaired people in their daily lives. It is shown that the object identification is the difficult task for visually impaired people . Although there are many applications that can be used for this task, there are still limitations that require more improving. For this reason, this paper provides the survey and an analysis of various evaluations for the technologies that used in the object identification task. For the visually impaired the idea of sensory substitution can be used
