Thermodynamic properties of ZnO with in mie-gruneisen hypothesis
Zink oxide (mineral name: Zincite) is an attractive wide band gap semiconductor due to its large number of industrial applications such as in the production of solar cells,
liquid-crystal displays, electrochromic devices, LED, as well as adhesive taps, automobile tires, ceramics, glass, varistors, etc. It is due to versatile nature of ZnO, in we have studied its thermal properties at high temperatures. Theoretically, complete ab initio investigations at elevated temperatures are restricted due largely to computational complexity of many-body nature. We have therefore used an consistent iterative scheme to include thermal effect by combining the universal equation of
state (UEOS) to the Mie-Gruneisen hypothesis. It is demonstrated that from the knowledge of cohesive properties at ambient condition various thermodynamic properties can be predicted at finite temperatures and pressures. For example, presently calculated relative volume-thermal expansions, static EOS are in good accordance with experimental results.

One Dimensional Chain with Long Range Hopping
The one-dimensional (1D) tight binding model with random nearest neighbor
hopping is known to have a singularity of the density of states and of the
localization length at the band center. We study numerically the effects of
random long range (power-law) hopping with an ensemble averaged magnitude
\expectation{|t_{ij}|} \propto |i-j|^{-\sigma} in the 1D chain, while
maintaining the particle-hole symmetry present in the nearest neighbor model.
We find, in agreement with results of position space renormalization group
techniques applied to the random XY spin chain with power-law interactions,
that there is a change of behavior when the power-law exponent becomes
smaller than 2
Multifractality of Hamiltonians with power-law transfer terms
Finite-size effects in the generalized fractal dimensions are
investigated numerically. We concentrate on a one-dimensional disordered model
with long-range random hopping amplitudes in both the strong- and the
weak-coupling regime. At the macroscopic limit, a linear dependence of on
is found in both regimes for values of q \alt 4g^{-1}, where is the
coupling constant of the model.Comment: RevTex4, 5 two-column pages, 5 .eps figures, to be published in Phys.

Quantum corrections to the conductivity of fermion - gauge field models: Application to half filled Landau level and high- superconductors
We calculate the Altshuler-Aronov type quantum correction to the conductivity
of charge carriers in a random potential (or random magnetic field)
coupled to a transverse gauge field. The gauge fields considered simulate the
effect of the Coulomb interaction for the fractional quantum Hall state at half
filling and for the model of high- superconducting compounds. We
find an unusually large quantum correction varying linearly or quadratically
with the logarithm of temperature, in different temperature regimes.Comment: 12 pages REVTEX, 1 figure. The figure is added and minor misprints

Theory of Coexistence of Superconductivity and Ferroelectricity : A Dynamical Symmetry Model
We propose and investigate a model for the coexistence of Superconductivity
(SC) and Ferroelectricity (FE) based on the dynamical symmetries for
the pseudo-spin SC sector, for the displaced oscillator FE sector, and
for the composite system. We assume a minimal
symmetry-allowed coupling, and simplify the hamiltonian using a double mean
field approximation (DMFA). A variational coherent state (VCS) trial
wave-function is used for the ground state: the energy, and the relevant order
parameters for SC and FE are obtained. For positive sign of the SC-FE coupling
coefficient, a non-zero value of either order parameter can suppress the other
(FE polarization suppresses SC and vice versa). This gives some support to
"Matthias' Conjecture" [1964], that SC and FE tend to be mutually exclusive.
For such a Ferroelectric Superconductor we predict: a) the SC gap
(and ) will increase with increasing applied pressure when pressure
quenches FE as in many ferroelectrics, and b) the FE polarization will increase
with increaesing magnetic field up to . The last result is equivalent to
the prediction of a new type of Magneto-Electric Effect in a coexistent SC-FE
material. Some discussion will be given of the relation of these results to the
cuprate superconductors.Comment: 46 page
