Analysis of Instrument Development Recount Text Writing Test HOTS for Vocational High School using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA)

This study aims to determine the construct validity and reliability of the instrument recount text writing test HOTS in English subjects for vocational high school students. This method used a development research design from Djemari Mardapi which has been modified with the three steps. The analysis of construct validity instrument is based on how many factors are needed to explain the relationship between a set of indicators and is used the SPSS Statistic v24 application and reliability used Cronbach's Alpha. The sample in this study were 30 students with a quota sampling approach and were taken randomly. The results of the analysis construct validity with EFA got KMO values > 0.5, Anti Image Correlation > 0.5, Eigenvalue 1 and Factor Loading 0.3 and instrument reliability is 0.771. The results showed that overall, the items of instrument recount text writing test HOTS in English subjects for vocational high school students had good construct validity scores, all items were able to measure every cognitive ability and showed that the construct validity of each test item developed was good because of construct validity. Teachers need to use the development of this standard instrument to reduce the level of subjectivity of the assessment. Teachers should start using learning models and include HOTS questions to improve students' thinking skills

Institutional Fields and Green IS: Understanding the Influence

Although institutional theory has demonstrated that social, political, and cultural pressures within organizational environments shape the diffusion of new practices, few studies have examined whether managers actually perceive different types of field-level pressures to be important and, if so, whether their perceptions are associated with practice adoption. This is particularly true in the context of institutional fields. In this paper, we use survey data from 425 managers to analyze their perceptions of broader field-level pressures relating to climate change, and the relationship between these perceptions and the adoption of green information systems (IS). Our preliminary results reveal that managerial perceptions of pressure from environmental activists are not significantly related to managerial commitment to adoption or to actual adoption, but that managerial perceptions of broader field-level pressures to address climate change are positively related to both. In addition, we find that activist pressures are positively related to field-level pressures, suggesting that activism is more influential as an indirect rather than a direct pressure on corporations in shaping the adoption of green IS

Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein expression in adipocytes: A new component in fat metabolism

AbstractMicrosomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) is a carrier of triglyceride essential for the assembly of apolipoprotein (apo)B-containing lipoproteins by the liver and the small intestine. Its role in triglyceride transfer in tissues that do not secrete lipoproteins has not been explored. In particular, MTP would seem to be a candidate for a role in triglyceride metabolism within the adipocyte. To test this hypothesis, we probed adipocytes for the presence of MTP. Immunohistochemical and biochemical studies demonstrate MTP in adipocytes from brown and white fat depots of mice and human, as well as in 3T3-L1 cells. Confocal microscopy revealed MTP throughout 3T3 cells; however, MTP fluorescence was prominent in juxtanuclear areas. In differentiated 3T3 cells MTP fluorescence was very striking around lipid droplets. In vitro lipid transfer assays demonstrated the presence of triglyceride transfer activity within microsomal fractions isolated from rat adipose tissue. In addition, quantitative rtPCR studies showed that MTP expression in mouse white fat depots was approximately 1% of MTP expression in mouse liver. MTP mRNA in differentiated 3T3 cells was approximately 13% of liver expression. Our results provide unequivocal evidence for the presence of MTP in adipocytes and present new possibilities for defining the mechanisms by which triglyceride is stored and/or hydrolyzed and mobilized

Generalized h-index for Disclosing Latent Facts in Citation Networks

What is the value of a scientist and its impact upon the scientific thinking? How can we measure the prestige of a journal or of a conference? The evaluation of the scientific work of a scientist and the estimation of the quality of a journal or conference has long attracted significant interest, due to the benefits from obtaining an unbiased and fair criterion. Although it appears to be simple, defining a quality metric is not an easy task. To overcome the disadvantages of the present metrics used for ranking scientists and journals, J.E. Hirsch proposed a pioneering metric, the now famous h-index. In this article, we demonstrate several inefficiencies of this index and develop a pair of generalizations and effective variants of it to deal with scientist ranking and with publication forum ranking. The new citation indices are able to disclose trendsetters in scientific research, as well as researchers that constantly shape their field with their influential work, no matter how old they are. We exhibit the effectiveness and the benefits of the new indices to unfold the full potential of the h-index, with extensive experimental results obtained from DBLP, a widely known on-line digital library.Comment: 19 pages, 17 tables, 27 figure

Three Dimensions of Association Link Migraine Symptoms and Functional Connectivity

Migraine is a heterogeneous disorder with variable symptoms and responsiveness to therapy. Because of previous analytic shortcomings, variance in migraine symptoms has been inconsistently related to brain function. In the current analysis, we used data from two sites (n = 143, male and female humans), and performed canonical correlation analysis, relating restingstate functional connectivity (RSFC) with a broad range of migraine symptoms, ranging from headache characteristics to sleep abnormalities. This identified three dimensions of covariance between symptoms and RSFC. The first dimension related to headache intensity, headache frequency, pain catastrophizing, affect, sleep disturbances, and somatic abnormalities, and was associated with frontoparietal and dorsal attention network connectivity, both of which are major cognitive networks. Additionally, RSFC scores from this dimension, both the baseline value and the change from baseline to postintervention, were associated with responsiveness to mind-body therapy. The second dimension was related to an inverse association between pain and anxiety, and to default mode network connectivity. The final dimension was related to pain catastrophizing, and salience, sensorimotor, and default mode network connectivity. In addition to performing canonical correlation analysis, we evaluated the current clustering of migraine patients into episodic and chronic subtypes, and found no evidence to support this clustering. However, when using RSFC scores from the three significant dimensions, we identified a novel clustering of migraine patients into four biotypes with unique functional connectivity patterns. These findings provide new insight into individual variability in migraine, and could serve as the foundation for novel therapies that take advantage of migraine heterogeneit

Expression of GCAP 1 and GCAP2 in the retinal degeneration (rd) mutant chicken retina

AbstractWe cloned the guanylate cyclase activating proteins, GCAP1 and GCAP2, from chicken retina and examined their expression in normal and predegenerate rd/rd chicken retina. Northern analyses show that the amounts of the single transcripts encoding GCAPI and GCAP2 are reduced to about 70% of normal levels in rdlrd retina. Western analyses reveal that GCAP2 levels appear normal in this retina, while GCAPI levels are reduced by more than 90%. The specific downregulation of GCAPI in rd/rd retina is consistent with a model for this disease in which activation of guanylate cyclase in the photoreceptors is abnormal, resulting in low levels of cGMP and an absence of phototransduction

Psychosocial factors in patients with kidney failure and role for social worker : a secondary data audit

Background: People with kidney failure face a multitude of psychosocial stressors that affect disease trajectory and health outcomes. Objectives: To investigate psychosocial factors affecting people with kidney failure before or at start of kidney replacement therapy (KRT) and kidney supportive and palliative care (KSPC) phases of illness and to explore role of social worker during the illness trajectory. Methods: We conducted a secondary data audit of patients either before or at start of KRT (Phase 1) and at the KSPC (Phase 2) of illness and had psychosocial assessments between March 2012 and March 2020 in an Australian setting. Results: Seventy-nine individuals, aged 70 ± 12 years, had at least two psychosocial assessments, one in each of the two phases of illness. The median time between social worker evaluations in Phase 1 and Phase 2 was 522 (116−943) days. Adjustment to illness and treatment (90%) was the most prevalent psychosocial issue identified in Phase 1, which declined to 39% in Phase 2. Need for aged care assistance (7.6%−63%; p < 0.001) and carer support (7.6%−42%; p < 0.001) increased significantly from Phase 1 to Phase 2. There was a significant increase in psychosocial interventions by the social worker in Phase 2, including supportive counselling (53%−73%; p < 0.05), provision of education and information (43%−65%; p < 0.01), and referrals (28%−62%; p < 0.01). Conclusion: Adults nearing or at the start of KRT experience immense psychosocial burden and adaptive demands that recognisably change during the course of illness. The positive role played by the nephrology social worker warrants further investigation
