    Why Biology is Beyond Physical Sciences?

    In the framework of materialism, the major attention is to find general organizational laws stimulated by physical sciences, ignoring the uniqueness of Life. The main goal of materialism is to reduce consciousness to natural processes, which in turn can be translated into the language of math, physics and chemistry. Following this approach, scientists have made several attempts to deny the living organism of its veracity as an immortal soul, in favor of genes, molecules, atoms and so on. However, advancement in various fields of biology has repeatedly given rise to questions against such a denial and has supplied more and more evidence against the completely misleading ideological imposition that living entities are particular states of matter. In the recent past, however, the realization has arisen that cognitive nature of life at all levels has begun presenting significant challenges to the views of materialism in biology and has created a more receptive environment for the soul hypothesis. Therefore, instead of adjudicating different aprioristic claims, the development of an authentic theory of biology needs both proper scientific knowledge and the appropriate tools of philosophical analysis of life. In a recently published paper the first author of present essay made an attempt to highlight a few relevant developments supporting a sentient view of life in scientific research, which has caused a paradigm shift in our understanding of life and its origin [1]. The present essay highlights the uniqueness of biological systems that offers a considerable challenge to the mainstream materialism in biology and proposes the Vedāntic philosophical view as a viable alternative for development of a biological theory worthy of life

    The Pada-Yatra of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

    The word pada-yatra literally means to walk on foot. In early India people used to travel by chariot, horseback, elephant, bullock-cart, or palanquin. But saintly persons, having renounced such worldly comforts, would travel by foot. Their main concern was to teach the glories of God to the conditioned living entities and thereby deliver them from their miserable materialistic lives. Walking was the best means of contacting the common people and accomplishing that goal. When Lord Chaitanya took sannyas - the renounced order of life - He travelled throughout India on foot. First He went from Bengal to Jagannatha Puri in Orissa and then He toured South India on foot of course. At that South India was seriously influenced by impersonalism, and the people in general had deviated from the path of devotion to the Lord. Love of God is the source of real happiness, and when one abandons that loving relationship with God, he suffers. Lord Chaitanya wanted to deliver the conditioned souls plunged in the absolute misery of that impersonalism. In order to reinstate them as devotees of the Lord, Sri Chaitanya went personally to South India. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is none other than the Supreme Personality of God-head who appeared as a devotee to teach the science of devotion - the only means of deliverance from material bondage. When the Lord performs any ac-tion, its effects are wonderful; similarly, when He directs His devotees to do anything, their result will also be wonderful. Lord Chaitanya's deliverance of South India stands as a proof that He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the guise of a devotee. ..

    Permainan bolavoli merupakan salah satu cabang olahraga permainan besar yang dimainkan oleh dua regu dan masing-masing regu terdiri dari enam orang. passing bawah merupakan salah satu langkah awal untuk menyusun pola serangan kepada regu lawan dan melakukan pertahanan atau difense dalam suatu permainan bolavoli. Permasalahan yang hendak dicari jawabannya dalam penelitian ini dirumuskan sebagai berikut :   Apakah ada kontribusi kekuatan otot lengan dengan kemampuan passing bawah ? Apakah ada kontribusi kecepatan reaksi dengan kemampuan passing bawah ? Apakah ada kontribusi kelincahan dengan kemampuan passing bawah ? Apakah ada kontribusi kekuatan otot lengan, kecepatan reaksi, dan kelincahan dengan kemampuan passing bawah pada permainan  bolavoli ?   Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh informasi atau data secara empirik tentang kontribusi kekuatan otot lengan, kecepatan reaksi, dan kelincahan terhadap passing bawah pada permainan bolavoli. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah atlet bolavoli putera Universitas Negeri Surabaya sebanyak 12 orang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dengan studi korelasional.   Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat kontribusi antara kekuatan otot lengan terhadap passing bawah sebesar 41,68 %, terdapat kontribusi antara kecepatan reaksi terhadap passing bawah sebesar 51,96 %, terdapat kontribusi antara kelincahan terhadap passing bawah sebesar 41,28 %, dan secara simultan terdapat kontribusi antara ketiga variabel yaitu kekuatan otot lengan, kecepatan reaksi, dan kelincahan terhadap passing bawah sebesar 62,41 %. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kontribusi antara kekuatan otot lengan, kecepatan reaksi, dan kelincahan terhadap passing bawah pada atlet bolavoli putera Universitas Negeri Surabaya.     Kata kunci : kontribusi, kekuatan otot lengan, kecepatan reaksi, kelincahan, Passing bawah bolavoli.

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui : (1) Apakah ada perbedaan tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan pendidikan berstandar ISO 9001:2000 bagi siswa kelas 1, 2 dan 3 bidang keahlian Elektronika Industri; (2) Apakah ada perbedaan tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan pendidikan berstandar ISO 9001:2000 antara siswa kelas 1 dan siswa kelas 2; (3) Apakah ada perbedaan tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan pendidikan berstandar ISO 9001:2000 antara siswa kelas 1 dan siswa kelas 3;(4) Apakah ada perbedaan tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan pendidikan berstandar ISO 9001:2000 antara siswa kelas 2 dan siswa kelas 3 bidang keahlian elektronika industri di SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif komparatif. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa quesioner untuk mengukur tingkat kepuasan kelompok pelanggan siswa pada populasi penelitian yaitu kelas 1, 2 dan 3 bidang keahlian elektronika industri SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman. Kepuasan didapat dengan membuat perbandingan antara persepsi/penilaian kinerja layanan pendidikan oleh siswa dan harapan siswa terhadap 5 faktor penentu mutu layanan yaitu : keandalan, daya tanggap, jaminan, empathy, dan berwujud. Kemudian nilai nilai tingkat kepuasan tiap siswa dalam setiap populasi dianalisis data. Analaisis rangking uji H kurskal wallis digunakan untuk menguji beda tingkat kepuasan antara kelas 1,2 dan 3. Uji-t dua sampel independen dengan taraf sig. 0,05 dilakukan untuk menguji beda kepuasan antar kelas 1 dan 2, kelas 1 dan 3, serta kelas 2 dan 3. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan pendidikan berstandar ISO 9001:2000 bagi siswa kelas 1, 2 dan 3 bidang keahlian elektronika industri di SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman,dengan 2 hitung(27,24) > 2 tabel 9,21. Hal ini juga didukung dengan adanya perbedaan tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan berstandar ISO 9001:2000 antara siswa kelas 1 dan siswa kelas 2; siswa kelas 1 dan siswa kelas 3; siswa kelas 2 dan siswa kelas 3 dengan hasil t hitung secara berurutan (3,731; 2,398; 5,738 ) > t tabel (2,000).     Prioritization of critically unwell children in low resource primary healthcare centres in Cape Town, South Africa

    Background: Every day, sick children die from time sensitive preventable illnesses. Due to an inadequate number of trained healthcare workers and high volumes of children presenting to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC), waiting times remain high and often result in significant delays for critically ill children. Delays in the recognition of critically unwell children are a key contributing factor to avoidable childhood mortality in Cape Town, South Africa. Methodology: A stepped implementation approach was undertaken to develop and evaluate a context-appropriate prioritization tool to identify and expedite the care of critically ill children PHC in Cape Town, South Africa. Aim 1: To conduct a systematic review of paediatric triage and prioritization tools for low resource settings in order to evaluate the evidence supporting the use of these tools. Aim 2: To perform an exploratory study, to identify barriers to optimal care for critically ill children in the pre-hospital setting in Cape Town, South Africa. Aim 3: To develop an implementable context-appropriate tool to identify and expedite the care of critically ill children in PHC in the City of Cape Town, South Africa. Aim 4: Evaluate the reliability of this tool compared to established triage tools currently used in this setting. Aim 5: Evaluate the impact of implementing this tool, on waiting times for children presenting for care to PHC. Aim 6: Evaluate the effectiveness of this tool post real-world implementation in identifying and expediting the care for critically ill children. Findings: Post real world implementation SCREEN was able to significantly reduce waiting times in PHC for critically ill children. Compared to pre-SCREEN implementation, post-SCREEN the proportion of critically ill children who saw a PN within 10 minutes increased tenfold from 6.4% (pre-SCREEN) to 64% (post-SCREEN) (p<0.001). SCREEN is also able to accurately identify critically ill children, in an audit of 827 patient-charts SCREEN had a sensitivity of 94.2% and a specificity of 88.1% when compared to IMCI. Interpretation: The SCREEN program when implemented in a real-world setting has shown that it can effectively identify and expedite the care of critically ill children in PHC

    READING COMPREHENSION PROBLEMS OF TOEIC FACED BY ACCOUNTING MANAGERIAL STUDENTS

    100 students of eight-semester students of Accounting Managerial Program Politeknik Negeri Samarinda were the participants of this research. The aim of this research was to find out the reading comprehension problems in reading section of TOEIC Prediction test.  TOEIC Prediction Test is one of English Proficiency Tests that has to be participated by 800 last semester students.   Adapted questionnaire from Wutthisingchai (2011)  was used as an instrument in this research since this research was a descriptive qualitative. The questioner was consisted of five aspects; reading comprehension process, motivation, background knowledge, lack reading strategies, and language knowledge.   Thus, to measure the students’ perception of reading, the 4-point Likert was used in this research.The results of the research showed that most of the students of eight-semester students of Managerial Accounting Program still had reading comprehension problems.Keywords: Reading Comprehension Problems, descriptive qualitative, TOEI

    A Self-Oscillating Approach for Wireless Power Transfer

    We introduce a robust wireless power transfer scheme that theoretically works for any load and receiver position. We show that capacitive wireless power transfer systems with these new properties can be implemented by modifying simple operational Amplifier oscillator circuits. The load and the wireless power link are incorporated into the feedback of the oscillator. The operating frequency adopts to the best possible working condition when the load or receiver position change. We prove the concept by deriving a theoretical model and implementing the same experimentally. The experimentally measured frequency of operation and transferred power agrees well with our analytical solutions

    Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah & pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis augmented relity untuk kegiatan pembelajaran siswa. Selain itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kelayakan media pembelajaran berbasis augmented realitu yang telah dikembangkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 3 Cimahi dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas XI pada mata pelajaran TIK (Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan antara lain angket survey yang diberikan kepada siswa pada tahap analisis, angket validasi ahli pada tahap pengembangan yang diberikan kepada dosen-dosen dan guru TIK, serta angket penelitian siswa terhadap media pada tahap uji coba terbatas. Dari penelitian tersebut didapatkan hasil: 1) Proses pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis augmented reality meliputi studi pendahuluan, perancangan dan pengembangan media, validasi oleh ahli dan pengguna, revisi media, ujicoba terbaas, revisi akhir dan laporan, 2) media pembelajran berbasis augmented reality yang telah dikembangkan dinilai Sangat Baik dan layak digunakan dengan rata-rata persentase kelayakan 85.61% oleh ahli media, 95.63% oleh ahli materi, 3) media pembelajaran berbasis augmented reality yang telah dikembangkan mendapat penilian Sangat Baik dengan persentase peniliaian sebesar 84.18% oleh siswa.---------- This research is a research and development of augmented reality based media for student’s learning. This research is also have purpose to see feasibility of augmented reality based learning media that has been developed and also to see student appraisal toward media that has been developed for learning activity. Research done in SMA Negeri 3 Cimahi with students of class XI in IT course as subject of research. Research instrument that has been used are survey questionnaire, given to students in analysis phase, expert judgement questionnaire in development phase that has been giver lecturers and teachers, and also students appraisal questionnarire toward media in limited trial run. From this research, obtained some result that are: 1) almost all student give positive responses toward augmented reality based media wich wil be developed, 2) augmented reality based media that has been developed is very good- rated and proper to ise with average percentage of feasibility as big as 85.61% by media experts and 95.63% by subject of instruction experts, 3) augmented reality based media that has been developed is very good-rated with percentage of feasibility as big as 84.18% by student
