Preliminary results of capture, transport and adaptation to captivity of young of the year bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus)
It was possible to capture and transport BFT YOTYs around 1.5kg from the Murcia shore to land based facilities of IEO in MazarrĂłn. Nevertheless the survival of individuals did not go beyond 72 hours. The accidental friction with the tank walls and the handling with the rubber net when fish were transfer from the boat to the van (Figure 1) and from the van to the land-based tank could be the reason of the final mortality. Thus, it would be necessary to design a system that minimizes this friction. On the other hand, it seems very important the fish size in terms of survival. For that it would be recommendable to capture smaller animals, so one or two months before this period (in September).Instituto Español de OceanografĂa (IEO), Grupo Empresarial Ricardo Fuentes e Hijos, Comunidad AutĂłnoma de la RegiĂłn de Murci

Sexual education Influence on adolescent maternity in Norte de Santander Departament, Colombia
corporal. Se concluye que las(os) adolescentes no
son consideradas(os) sujetos de derechos.Adolescent pregnancy can be prevented through appropriate
sexual education in the family and school, because it
implies risks to the physical and psychological health of the
adolescent. This study is quantitative and analyzes the influence
of sexual education on adolescent motherhood in Norte
de Santander, Colombia, considering the information of 406
women aged between 10 and 19 years. Two binary logistic regression
models were carried out: 1) Sex education received
in school and 2) Sex education received in the family. As explanatory
variables a) Knowledge of the menstrual cycle and
fertile period and b) Condom use in the first sexual relationship.
Only Model 2 demonstrated that Family Sex Education
influences body knowledge. It is concluded that adolescents
are not considered as subjects of rights
Cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonism markedly increases dopamine receptor-mediated stereotypies
The contribution of the endocannabinoid system to dopamine-mediated disorganized behavior in schizophrenia is discussed. We used a model of concurrent stimulation of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors to evaluate the role of this system in dopamine-mediated stereotypies measured in a hole-board test. Pretreatment with the cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonist N-(piperidin-1-yl)-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-4-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamide (SR141716A; 1 mg/kg) potentiated stereotyped behavior induced by coadministration of the dopamine D1 receptor agonist SKF 38393 (0.05, 0.1 and 1 mg/kg) and the dopamine D2 receptor agonist quinpirole (0.25 mg/kg). Thus, the endocannabinoid system acts as a brake for abnormal behavior associated with dopaminergic overactivation. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.Peer Reviewe
Utility of the Tourniquet Test and the White Blood Cell Count to Differentiate Dengue among Acute Febrile Illnesses in the Emergency Room
Dengue often presents with non-specific clinical signs, and given the current paucity of accurate, rapid diagnostic laboratory tests, identifying easily obtainable bedside markers of dengue remains a priority. Previous studies in febrile Asian children have suggested that the combination of a positive tourniquet test (TT) and leucopenia can distinguish dengue from other febrile illnesses, but little data exists on the usefulness of these tests in adults or in the Americas. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of the TT and leucopenia (white blood cell count <5000/mm3) in identifying dengue as part of an acute febrile illness (AFI) surveillance study conducted in the Emergency Department of Saint Luke's Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico. From September to December 2009, 284 patients presenting to the ED with fever for 2–7 days and no identified source were enrolled. Participants were tested for influenza, dengue, leptospirosis and enteroviruses. Thirty-three (12%) patients were confirmed as having dengue; 2 had dengue co-infection with influenza and leptospirosis, respectively. An infectious etiology was determined for 141 others (136 influenza, 3 enterovirus, 2 urinary tract infections), and 110 patients had no infectious etiology identified. Fifty-two percent of laboratory-positive dengue cases had a positive TT versus 18% of patients without dengue (P<0.001), 87% of dengue cases compared to 28% of non-dengue cases had leucopenia (P<0.001). The presence of either a positive TT or leucopenia correctly identified 94% of dengue patients. The specificity and positive predictive values of these tests was significantly higher in the subset of patients without pandemic influenza A H1N1, suggesting improved discriminatory performance of these tests in the absence of concurrent dengue and influenza outbreaks. However, even during simultaneous AFI outbreaks, the absence of leucopenia combined with a negative tourniquet test may be useful to rule out dengue
Morphological and geological features of Drake Passage, Antarctica, from a new digital bathymetric model
The Drake Passage is an oceanic gateway of about 850 km width located between South America and the Antarctic Peninsula that connects the southeastern Pacific Ocean with the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. It is an important gateway for mantle flow, oceanographic water masses, and migrations of biota. This sector developed within the framework of the geodynamic evolution of the Scotia Arc, including continental fragmentation processes and oceanic crust creation, since the oblique divergence of the South American plate to the north and the Antarctic plate to the south started in the Eocene. As a consequence of its complex tectonic evolution and subsequent submarine processes, as sedimentary infill and erosion mainly controlled by bottom currents and active tectonics, this region shows a varied physiography. We present a detailed map of the bathymetry and geological setting of the Drake Passage that is mainly founded on a new compilation of precise multibeam bathymetric data obtained on 120 cruises between 1992 and 2015, resulting in a new Digital Bathymetric Model with 200 × 200 m cell spacing. The map covers an area of 1,465,000 km2 between parallels 52°S and 63°S and meridians 70°W and 50°W at scale 1:1,600,000 allowing the identification of the main seafloor features. In addition, the map includes useful geological information related to magnetism, seismicity and tectonics. This work constitutes an international cooperative effort and is part of the International Bathymetric Chart of the Southern Ocean project, under the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research umbrella
