(1,4,7,10,13,16-Hexaoxacyclooctadecane)dimethylindium(III) trifluoromethanesulfonate
In the title compound, [In(CH3)2(C12H24O6)](CF3O3S), two of the In—O distances within the cation are significantly shorter than the other four. The InIII atom is in a distorted hexagonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry in which the C—In—C angle is 175.44 (12)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds
Flux tube dynamics in the dual superconductor
We study plasma oscillations in a flux tube of the dual superconductor model
of 't Hooft and Mandelstam. A magnetic condensate is coupled to an
electromagnetic field by its dual vector potential, and fixed electric charges
set up a flux tube. An electrically charged fluid (a quark plasma) flows in the
tube and screens the fixed charges via plasma oscillations. We investigate both
Type I and Type II superconductors, with plasma frequencies both above and
below the threshold for radiation into the Higgs vacuum. We find strong
radiation of electric flux into the superconductor in all regimes, and argue
that this invalidates the use of the simplest dual superconductor model for

Particles versus fields in PT-symmetrically deformed integrable systems
We review some recent results on how PT-symmetry, that is a simultaneous
time-reversal and parity transformation, can be used to construct new
integrable models. Some complex valued multi-particle systems, such as
deformations of the Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models, are shown to arise
naturally from real valued field equations of non-linear integrable systems.
Deformations of complex non-linear integrable field equations, some of them
even allowing for compacton solutions, are also investigated. The integrabilty

Size magnification as a complement to Cosmic Shear
We investigate the extent to which cosmic size magnification may be used to
com- plement cosmic shear in weak gravitational lensing surveys, with a view to
obtaining high-precision estimates of cosmological parameters. Using simulated
galaxy images, we find that size estimation can be an excellent complement,
finding that unbiased estimation of the convergence field is possible with
galaxies with angular sizes larger than the point-spread function (PSF) and
signal-to-noise ratio in excess of 10. The statistical power is similar to, but
not quite as good as, cosmic shear, and it is subject to different systematic
effects. Application to ground-based data will be challeng- ing, with
relatively large empirical corrections required to account for with biases for
galaxies which are smaller than the PSF, but for space-based data with 0.1
arcsecond resolution, the size distribution of galaxies brighter than i=24 is

Measurement of the top quark mass and top-antitop production cross section from dilepton events at the Collider Detector at Fermilab
We present an analysis of dilepton events originating from top-antitop
production in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV at the Fermilab
Tevatron Collider. The sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 109+-7
pb^{-1}. We observe 9 candidate events, with an estimated background of
2.4+-0.5 events. We determine the mass of the top quark to be M_top =
161+-17(stat.)+-10(syst.) GeV/c^2. In addition we measure a top-antitop
production cross section of 8.2+4.4-3.4 pb (where M_top = 175 GeV/c^2 has been
assumed for the acceptance estimate).Comment: 6 pages of text, 3 figure
Search for Chargino-Neutralino Associated Production at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider
We have searched in collisions at = 1.8 TeV for events
with three charged leptons and missing transverse energy. In the Minimal
Supersymmetric Standard Model, we expect trilepton events from
chargino-neutralino (\chione \chitwo) pair production, with subsequent decay
into leptons. We observe no candidate , ,
or events in 106 pb integrated
luminosity. We present limits on the sum of the branching ratios times cross
section for the four channels: \sigma_{\chione\chitwo}\cdot
BR(\chione\chitwo\to 3\ell+X) 81.5 \mgev\sp and
M_\chitwo > 82.2 \mgev\sp for , ~\mgev\sp and

Production of Y(1S) Mesons from chib Decays in pp(bar) Collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV

Observation of Hadronic W Decays in t-tbar Events with the Collider Detector at Fermilab
We observe hadronic W decays in t-tbar -> W (-> l nu) + >= 4 jet events using
a 109 pb-1 data sample of p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV collected with
the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). A peak in the dijet invariant mass
distribution is obtained that is consistent with W decay and inconsistent with
the background prediction by 3.3 standard deviations. From this peak we measure
the W mass to be 77.2 +- 4.6 (stat+syst) GeV/c^2. This result demonstrates the
presence of two W bosons in t-tbar candidates in the W (-> l nu) + >= 4 jet

Measurement of the lepton charge asymmetry in W-boson decays produced in p-pbar collisions
We describe a measurement of the charge asymmetry of leptons from W boson
decays in the rapidity range 0 enu, munu events from
110+/-7 pb^{-1}of data collected by the CDF detector during 1992-95. The
asymmetry data constrain the ratio of d and u quark momentum distributions in
the proton over the x range of 0.006 to 0.34 at Q2 \approx M_W^2. The asymmetry
predictions that use parton distribution functions obtained from previously
published CDF data in the central rapidity region (0.0<|y_l|<1.1) do not agree
with the new data in the large rapidity region (|y_l|>1.1).Comment: 13 pages, 3 tables, 1 figur
Symmetry and Topology in Superconductors - Odd-frequency pairing and edge states -
Superconductivity is a phenomenon where the macroscopic quantum coherence
appears due to the pairing of electrons. This offers a fascinating arena to
study the physics of broken gauge symmetry. However, the important symmetries
in superconductors are not only the gauge invariance. Especially, the symmetry
properties of the pairing, i.e., the parity and spin-singlet/spin-triplet,
determine the physical properties of the superconducting state. Recently it has
been recognized that there is the important third symmetry of the pair
amplitude, i.e., even or odd parity with respect to the frequency. The
conventional uniform superconducting states correspond to the even-frequency
pairing, but the recent finding is that the odd-frequency pair amplitude arises
in the spatially non-uniform situation quite ubiquitously. Especially, this is
the case in the Andreev bound state (ABS) appearing at the surface/interface of
the sample. The other important recent development is on the nontrivial
topological aspects of superconductors. As the band insulators are classified
by topological indices into (i) conventional insulator, (ii) quantum Hall
insulator, and (iii) topological insulator, also are the gapped
superconductors. The influence of the nontrivial topology of the bulk states
appears as the edge or surface of the sample. In the superconductors, this
leads to the formation of zero energy ABS (ZEABS). Therefore, the ABSs of the
superconductors are the place where the symmetry and topology meet each other
which offer the stage of rich physics. In this review, we discuss the physics
of ABS from the viewpoint of the odd-frequency pairing, the topological
bulk-edge correspondence, and the interplay of these two issues. It is
described how the symmetry of the pairing and topological indices determines
the absence/presence of the ZEABS, its energy dispersion, and properties as the
