The linkage between motivational mechanisms, meaningful work and teachersā innovative behaviour in public secondary schools in Northeast, Nigeria
The significance of innovative behaviour in organisations has been widely
recognised in various role performances. Despite the importance of motivation to
stimulate individual innovative behaviour, little is known regarding the effect of
multiple motivational mechanisms in fostering innovative behaviour in a single
study, especially in the education system. Also, the role of perceived meaningful
work is highly essential in the work environment. However, the link between
motivational mechanisms, meaningful work and individual innovative behaviour is
not particularly clear. Building on the principles of job characteristics model, a
proposed research model was tested by linking motivational mechanisms to teachersā
innovative behaviour. Also, the mediating role of meaningful work in their
relationships was examined. Accordingly, ten hypotheses were then formulated and
tested in the survey using the data collected from the 309 participants selected
through a quota sampling. The study covered the Northeast region of Nigeria, which
comprised six states. SPSS and SmartPLS software were used as statistical tools for
data analysis. The findings revealed that two out of the three motivational
mechanisms (i.e. creative self-efficacy and prosocial motivation) had a significant
direct effects on teachersā innovative behaviour than intrinsic motivation. Also, the
mediation analysis found that meaningful work mediated the linkage between all the
three motivational mechanisms and teachersā innovative behaviour. For practical
implications, this study suggests that school administrators should provide a well
defined tasks where teachers can attach meaning and significance to their jobs. This
would lead to those high in internal work motivation to engage in innovation
processes. Also, there is a need for revision of teachersā assessment to incorporate
innovative behaviour
criteria. The

Factors Influencing Innovative Behaviour of Teachers in Secondary Schools in the North East of Nigeria
Innovative behaviour (IB) refers to the process of developing, generating, applying or promoting new ideas by employees to increase job performance. Today, the rapid social and technological changes in our environment highlight the significance of IB of employees and especially for teachers. Thus, this paper aimed to develop a conceptual framework of factors influencing innovative behaviour of teachers in secondary schools. The research was explored through critical related literature analysis. Findings were presented in form of descriptive analysis, which shows that workplace happiness (WP), organisational climate (OC), affective commitment (AF) and transformational leadership (TFL) play a direct role in affecting innovative behaviour. The paper concludes that WP, OC, AF and TL have a positive impact in creating the essential conditions to encourage teachers to show IB in schools

Public Sector Financial Management Reform (PSFMR) and International Accounting Standards (IPSASs)
The socioeconomic ambition of government and the dwindling nature of revenue sources coupled with financial/debt crisis across the globe raised serious concern among governments, especially the developing nations. Nigeria, just like other developing countries had been characterised with poor financial management system that paved way for mismanagement of resources and solidification of corrupt practices among government ministries, departments, and agenciesā officials that are frontline government institutions. The effect of government financial decisions has been felt badly by the citizens over decades as it is evident in the economic hardship and dilapidated public infrastructure and poor social welfare services. To address these myriad problems, government must seek reformation and restructuring of public financial management system to enable efficient and effective delivery of public services. In a bid to encourage the transformation agenda of the Nigerian government, this paper identified and discussed some of the ongoing public financial management reforms under the platform of IPSAS in achieving the reform objectives. In particular, the study largely adopted the qualitative research approach through careful review of literatures and guidelines. The study posits that implementation of IPSAS accrual accounting is a key reform strategy in improving the public sector financial management system. Implementation of accrual accounting will definitely result to higher transparency and improve the quality of public sector financial reports. Therefore, the study concludes that strong political commitment is a key driver for the reform

Bioaccumulation of Heavy Metals in Some Tissues of Fish in Lake Geriyo, Adamawa State, Nigeria
Bioaccumulation of heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cd, and Cu) was determined in the liver, gills, and flesh from benthic and pelagic fish species collected from Lake Geriyo covering two seasons. The levels of the heavy metals varied significantly among fish species and organs. Flesh possessed the lowest concentration of all the metals. Liver was the target organ for Zn, Cu, and Pb accumulations. Cd however exhibited higher concentration in the gills. Fish species showed interspecific variation of metals. These differences were discussed for the contribution of potential factors that affected metals uptake like age, geographical distribution, and species-specific factors. The concentration of metals in fish flesh was accepted by the international legislation limits for Cu, Zn, and Cd; however, Pb transcend in Clarias and Tilapia during wet season and Heterotis in both seasons, hence unsafe for human consumption and a threat to public health. These levels might be due to anthropogenic inputs as there is no industrial activity around the lake
