Rock paintings and communication in the Tar and San Martin lakes basin (Santa Cruz province)
The study of the painted rock art from Bloque 1 del Campo de Bloques 1 and Alero con Manos del Río Chalía is undertaken. Both were documented in lowlands associated to the Tar and San Martin lakes basin (South-Western Santa Cruz province). The characteristics of the sites and the rock art production sequence are summarized. Sites are contextualized within general data on regional landscape use as well as with the information from other rock art sites located at different altitudes in nearby regions. The analysis indicates a low density of rock art motifs, together with the exclusive use of painting and a low diversity of motifs in the lowlands associated with the Tar and San Martin lakes basin. All these characteristics differ from adjoining areas. Hence, the study of this rock art enables the identification of particularities of the lowlands and the evaluation of, the ranking of these areas and the dynamic of information circulation in the pastFil: Re, Anahi. Linkage analysis of alcoholism-related electrophysiological phenotypes: genome scans with microsatellites compared to single-nucleotide polymorphisms
P300 amplitude is an electrophysiological quantitative trait that is correlated with both alcoholism and smoking status. Using the Collaborative Study on the Genetics of Alcoholism data, we performed model-free linkage analysis to investigate the relationship between alcoholism, P300 amplitude, and habitual smoking. We also analyzed the effect of parent-of-origin on alcoholism, and utilized both microsatellites (MS) markers and single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). We found significant evidence of linkage for alcoholism to chromosome 10; inclusion of P300 amplitude as a covariate provided additional evidence of linkage to chromosome 12. This same region on chromosome 12 showed some evidence for a parent-of-origin effect. We found evidence of linkage for the P300 phenotype to chromosome 7 in non-smokers, and to chromosome 17 in alcoholics. The effects of alcoholism and habitual smoking on P300 amplitude appear to have separate genetic determinants. Overall, there were few differences between MS and SNP genome scans. The use of covariates and parent-of-origin effects allowed detection of linkage not seen otherwise
One step further: rock art at La Criolla Ranch (south of Cardiel lake, Santa Cruz Province)
A low frequency of motifs was identified in combination with a high morphological diversity, made by engraving and painting techniques. Thus, information on the intermediate space that links two large areas with an extensive history of scientific research, such as Cardiel Lake and Cardiel Chico plateau, is provided. The results obtained on the analysis of varnish, paint fading and overlapping of the engravings and paintings allow us to suggest the existence of at least three rock art moments of execution, which contextualize the human occupations of the area from the Middle Holocene to the 20th century.Fil: Guichon, Francisco. Dolor orbitario
We report a patient affected by Systemic Lupus Erythematosus who presents left retro-orbital pain. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reveals a thickening of the left medial rectus muscle compatible with orbital myositis. A progressive clinical improvement is achieved with high doses of corticosteroids. Orbital myositis is a non-infectious inflammatory disease that primarily affects the extraocular muscles, whose diagnosis is made by excluding other diseases affecting the orbit.
We report a case of a woman in the third day after delivery with acute heart failure. She’s diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography of peripartum cardiomyopathy. Treatment of heart failure was started and the patient’s condition improved. Peripartum cardiomyopathy is the left ventricular systolic dysfunction that occurs in the final month of pregnancy and up to 5 months after delivery in abscense of another identifiable cause for the heart failure. Peripartum cardiomyopathy is the major cause of pregnancy-induced heart failure. Although the incidence is low, morbidity and mortality rates are high. Therefore, it’s necessary to take into consideration this pathology in the differential diagnosis.

Electronic Health Literacy Across the Lifespan: Measurement Invariance Study
Background: Electronic health (eHealth) information is ingrained in the healthcare experience to engage patients across the lifespan. Both eHealth accessibility and optimization are influenced by lifespan development, as older adults experience greater challenges accessing and using eHealth tools as compared to their younger counterparts. The eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS) is the most popular measure used to assess patient confidence locating, understanding, evaluating, and acting upon online health information. Currently, however, the factor structure of the eHEALS across discrete age groups is not well understood, which limits its usefulness as a measure of eHealth literacy across the lifespan.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the structure of eHEALS scores and the degree of measurement invariance among US adults representing the following generations: Millennials (18-35-year-olds), Generation X (36-51-year-olds), Baby Boomers (52-70-year-olds), and the Silent Generation (71-84-year-olds).
Methods: Millennials (N=281, mean 26.64 years, SD 5.14), Generation X (N=164, mean 42.97 years, SD 5.01), and Baby Boomers/Silent Generation (N=384, mean 62.80 years, SD 6.66) members completed the eHEALS. The 3-factor (root mean square error of approximation, RMSEA=.06, comparative fit index, CFI=.99, Tucker-Lewis index, TLI=.98) and 4-factor (RMSEA=.06, CFI=.99, TLI=.98) models showed the best global fit, as compared to the 1- and 2-factor models. However, the 4-factor model did not have statistically significant factor loadings on the 4th factor, which led to the acceptance of the 3-factor eHEALS model. The 3-factor model included eHealth Information Awareness, Search, and Engagement. Pattern invariance for this 3-factor structure was supported with acceptable model fit (RMSEA=.07, Δχ2=P>.05, ΔCFI=0). Compared to Millennials and members of Generation X, those in the Baby Boomer and Silent Generations reported less confidence in their awareness of eHealth resources (P<.001), information seeking skills (P=.003), and ability to evaluate and act on health information found on the Internet (P<.001).
Results: Young (18-48-year olds, N=411) and old (49-84-year olds, N=419) adults completed the survey. A 3-factor model had the best fit (RMSEA=.06, CFI=.99, TLI=.98), as compared to the 1-factor, 2-factor, and 4-factor models. These 3-factors included eHealth Information Awareness (2 items), Information Seeking (2 items), and Information and Evaluation (4 items). Pattern invariance was supported with the acceptable model fit (RMSEA=.06, Δχ2=P>.05, ΔCFI=0). Compared with younger adults, older adults had less confidence in eHealth resource awareness (P<.001), information seeking skills (P<.01), and ability to evaluate and act upon online health information (P<.001).
Conclusions: The eHEALS can be used to assess, monitor uniquely, and evaluate Internet users’ awareness of eHealth resources, information seeking skills, and engagement abilities. Configural and pattern invariance was observed across all generation groups in the 3-factor eHEALS model. To meet gold the standards for factor interpretation (ie, 3 items or indicators per factor), future research is needed to create and assess additional eHEALS items. Future research is also necessary to identify and test items for a fourth factor, one that captures the social nature of eHealth
The effect of seasoning with herbs on the nutritional, safety and sensory properties of reduced-sodium fermented Cobrançosa cv. table olives
This study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of seasoning Cobrancosa table olives in a brine with aromatic ingredients, in order to mask the bitter taste given by KCl when added to reduced-sodium fermentation brines. Olives were fermented in two different salt combinations: Brine A, containing 8% NaCl and, Brine B, a reduced-sodium brine, containing 4% NaCl + 4% KCl. After the fermentation the olives were immersed in seasoning brines with NaCl (2%) and the aromatic herbs (thyme, oregano and calamintha), garlic and lemon. At the end of the fermentation and two weeks after seasoning, the physicochemical, nutritional, organoleptic, and microbiological parameters, were determined. The olives fermented in the reduced-sodium brines had half the sodium concentration, higher potassium and calcium content, a lower caloric level, but were considered, by a sensorial panel, more bitter than olives fermented in NaCl brine. Seasoned table olives, previously fermented in Brine A and Brine B, had no significant differences in the amounts of protein (1.23% or 1.11%), carbohydrates (1.0% or 0.66%), fat (20.0% or 20.5%) and dietary fiber (3.4% or 3.6%). Regarding mineral contents, the sodium-reduced fermented olives, presented one third of sodium, seven times more potassium and three times more calcium than the traditional olives fermented in 8% NaCl. Additionally, according to the panelists' evaluation, seasoning the olives fermented in 4% NaCl + 4% KCl, resulted in a decrease in bitterness and an improvement in the overall evaluation and flavor. Escherichia coli and Salmonella were not found in the olives produced.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
