Universidad El BosqueMagíster en Educación Inclusiva e InterculturalMaestríaThe present qualitative research is carried out through documentary analysis, which contributes to consolidate the theoretical bases as a solid foundation around the invisibility of women in science throughout history, while tending to generate scientific vocation in girls and young women through the approach of a pedagogical strategy for the subsequent choice of careers in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This is developed in five chapters: the first, describes and justifies the research problem based on the low participation of women in the fields related to science, technology and mathematics, in which the "why?" of the research on the invisibilization of the contribution of women in science is resolved, for which analyze the fundamental aspects of the selected documents, referring to women who did science in history, research on the performance of women in STEM areas, in studies carried out towards the scientific vocation in women and girls. Following this reasoning, the "why?" oriented towards the creation of a pedagogical strategy that facilitated the visibility of women in STEM areas, through the development of the scientific vocation in girls and young women of cycles III and IV, to demonstrate the social relevance of this research. Therefore, the starting point is the research question : How can a pedagogical strategy based on the role of women in scientific development contribute to the generation of scientific vocations in girls in cycles III and IV? For its approach, it is necessary to develop the following purposes: first, to describe the research program carried out by women scientists, with greater relevance in historiographic studies, as a contribution to scientific development; second, to recognize the pedagogical and axiological foundations related to vocational development in science education; Third, to formulate and plan lines of action of a pedagogical strategy aimed at stimulating scientific vocations in girls and young women. The second chapter is related to the conceptual framework, taking as a reference the pedagogical strategy of Sierra (2004), which is addressed from the methodological and contextual procedural dimensions, also deepens in the development of scientific vocations especially in girls and the option for STEM careers, and finally the role of women in scientific thinking related to gender equality or parity, the role of women in the construction of society and the contributions recognized by feminist historiography. The third chapter states the design of this research consisting of three levels taken from Ibáñez (1986), the epistemological defines the for what? and for whom? An investigation is done. At the methodological level, the answer is why? The research is done and the technical level refers to the How? Research is done. The first level responds to the interpretative paradigm of qualitative research; The second level: methodological, corresponds to critical hermeneutics and the third level to the technical, focused on documentary analysis. The fourth chapter describes the results of the theoretical research exercise from the proposed objectives. Thus, in the first place, the research program carried out by women is described from historiographic analysis as a contribution to scientific development. Secondly, it describes the social value of science in support of the vocational development of STEM, from which the public image of science is based. Thirdly, the pedagogical strategy based on the Sierra model (2004) is described in detail. And finally the reflections and / or conclusions of the development of the research are presented

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is still one of the main health problems worldwide. It is therefore essential to keep making progress in improving the prognosis and quality of life of affected patients. One way to advance along this pathway is to uncover connections between other disorders associated with HIV/AIDS-so that they can be anticipated and possibly mitigated. We propose to achieve this by using Association Rules (ARs). They allow us to represent the dependencies between a number of diseases and other specific diseases. However, classical techniques systematically generate every AR meeting some minimal conditions on data frequency, hence generating a vast amount of uninteresting ARs, which need to be filtered out. The lack of manually annotated ARs has favored unsupervised filtering, even though they produce limited results. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised system, able to identify relevant ARs among HIV-related diseases with a minimal amount of annotated training data. Our system has been able to extract a good number of relationships between HIV-related diseases that have been previously detected in the literature but are scattered and are often little known. Furthermore, a number of plausible new relationships have shown up which deserve further investigation by qualified medical experts

Summary: Background: Surgical care holds significant importance in healthcare, especially in low and middle-income countries, as at least 50% of the 4.2 million deaths within the initial 30 days following surgery take place in these countries. The Lancet Commission on Global Surgery proposed six indicators to enhance surgical care. In Colombia, studies have been made using secondary data. However, strategies to reduce perioperative mortality have not been implemented. This study aims to describe the fourth indicator, perioperative mortality rate (POMR), with primary data in Colombia. Methods: A multicentre prospective cohort study was conducted across 54 centres (hospitals) in Colombia. Each centre selected a 7-day recruitment period between 05/2022 and 01/2023. Inclusion criteria involved patients over 18 years of age undergoing surgical procedures in operating rooms. Data quality was ensured through a verification guideline and statistical analysis using mixed-effects multilevel modelling with a case mix analysis of mortality by procedure-related, patient-related, and hospital-related conditions. Findings: 3807 patients were included with a median age of 48 (IQR 32–64), 80.3% were classified as ASA I or II, and 27% of the procedures had a low-surgical complexity. Leading procedures were Orthopedics (19.2%) and Gynaecology/Obstetrics (17.7%). According to the Clavien–Dindo scale, postoperative complications were distributed in major complications (11.7%, 10.68–12.76) and any complication (31.6%, 30.09–33.07). POMR stood at 1.9% (1.48–2.37), with elective and emergency surgery mortalities at 0.7% (0.40–1.23) and 3% (2.3–3.89) respectively. Interpretation: The POMR was higher than the ratio reported in previous national studies, even when patients had a low–risk profile and low-complexity procedures. The present research represents significant public health progress with valuable insights for national decision-makers to improve the quality of surgical care.
