Cavitation-induced fusion : proof of concept

Cavitation-induced fusion (also known as bubble fusion or sonofusion) has been a topic of much debate and controversy and is generally (albeit incorrectly) perceived as unworkable. In this paper we present the theoretical foundations of cavitation-induced fusion and summarize the experimental results of the research conducted in the past 20 years. Based on the systematic study of all available data we conclude that the cavitation-induced fusion is feasible, doable, and can be used for commercial power generation. In this talk we present the results of our own research including neutron detection in singlebubble and multi-bubble experiments. We further demonstrate prototype 100kW commercial generator and discuss R&D necessary to achieve break-even energy production

Development of an Optimization-Based Atomistic-to-Continuum Coupling Method

Atomistic-to-Continuum (AtC) coupling methods are a novel means of computing the properties of a discrete crystal structure, such as those containing defects, that combine the accuracy of an atomistic (fully discrete) model with the efficiency of a continuum model. In this note we extend the optimization-based AtC, formulated in arXiv:1304.4976 for linear, one-dimensional problems to multi-dimensional settings and arbitrary interatomic potentials. We conjecture optimal error estimates for the multidimensional AtC, outline an implementation procedure, and provide numerical results to corroborate the conjecture for a 1D Lennard-Jones system with next-nearest neighbor interactions.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

Educación y ambigüedades de la au tonomización: hacia una pedagogía crítica de la promoción del individuo autónomo

O presente artigo, confrontando a educação com o desiderato da autonomização, pretende analisar as ambiguidades a que esse confronto dá hoje origem e estabelecer, mediante a explicitação de uma conceção contra-hegemónica de autonomização, as bases e as coordenadas de uma pedagogia crítica da promoção do indivíduo autónomo, que seja simultaneamente humanista, emancipadora e transformadora tanto da realidade do sujeito quanto da realidade do contexto. A estrutura narrativa, em consonância com esse amplo propósito, articula as seguintes dimensões: a educação e a normatividade da autonomização; as ambiguidades da autonomização: sentidos divergentes de fazer educação para a autonomia; e, por fim, o empowerment emancipatório e transformador: vetor da educação enquanto autonomização contra-hegemónica. A conclusão aponta as linhas diretoras da construção de uma pedagogia crítica do indivíduo autónomo, assumida nas vertentes de emancipação individual e transformação social.This paper confronts education with the desideratum of autonomization and it intends to analyze the ambiguities that this confrontation leads and establishes, through the explanation of a counter-hegemonic conception of autonomization. The foundations and the coordinates of a critical pedagogy for the promotion of the autonomous individual that is humanistic, emancipator and transformative, both the reality of the subject and the reality of the context. The narrative structure, in line with that broad purpose, articulates the following dimensions: education and the normativeness of autonomization; the ambiguities of autonomization: divergent ways of making education for autonomy; the transformative and emancipatory empowerment; vector of education as counter-hegemonic autonomization. The conclusion points out the principal lines of the construction of a critical pedagogy of the autonomous individual taken in the areas of individual emancipation and social transformation.Este artículo, enfrentando la educación con el desideratumde la autonomización, pretende analizar las ambigüedades que surgen de dicha confrontación y establecer, mediante la explicitación de una concepción contrahegemónica de la autonomización, las bases y las líneas de una pedagogía crítica y al mismo tiempo humanista, emancipadora y transformadora (tanto de la realidad del sujeto como de la realidad del contexto) de la promoción del individuo autónomoLa estructura narrativa, en línea con dicho propósito, articula las siguientes dimensiones: la educación y la normatividad de la autonomización; las ambigüedades de la autonomización: diferentes sentidos de hacer educación para la autonomía y, por fin, el empoderamiento emancipador y transformador, vector de la educación como autonomización contrahegemónica. Експериментальні дослідження нової кавітаційної технології приготування бітумних емульсій

The construction and proper control and measuring apparatus of experimental stand are resulted. Its operation principle is based on cavitational treatment of the components of emulsified bitumen. In the experimental unit the input pressure of cavitational disperser and the cavitator position against diffuser parts of disperser are regulated. The temperatures of the components and prepared emulsion are controlled. The disperser input and output pressure is controlled.The researching methods are described, and the experimental results of the developed technology of preparation of bitumen emulsion are presented. The cross-effect and diagram curves of the parameters and performances of new equipment and physical and mechanical features of the raw material processed are obtained.Наведена конструкція та відповідна контрольно-вимірювальна апаратура експериментального стенду, принцип роботи якого полягає у кавітаційній обробці компонентів бітумної емульсії. В установці регулюється тиск на вході в кавітаційний диспергатор, положення кавітатора відносно дифузорної частини диспергатора, контролюються температури компонентів та готової емульсії, фіксується тиск на вході й на виході з диспергатора. Викладена методика проведення дослідження, та показані результати експериментального дослідження розробленої технології приготування бітумної емульсії.
