    Meaning of self-care: Lived experiences of Iranian diabetic patients

    BACKGROUND: Diabetes continuously disrupts a patient’s well-being and quality of life. Successful self-care could potentially decrease overall costs and rates of mortality and morbidity. Patients’ experiences could be used to elucidate what they believe about illness and its management. The overall aim of this study was to illuminate the meaning of self-care among diabetic patients in Southeast of Iran.METHODS: Sixteen diabetic patients with a mean age of 34 and 10 years’ experience in self-care for their disease were interviewed. The interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed with a Ricoeur’s phenomenological hermeneutic method.RESULTS: The meaning of self- care was comprehensively understood as being empowered. This can be divided into four themes: seeking information, being independent, being optimistic or pessimistic and trust in God.CONCLUSION: The results in this study suggest that cultural and religious components could affect diabetic patients' self-care. Nurses might use patients’ religious beliefs to relieve their stress, help them to retain a sense of control, maintain hope and sense of meaning and purpose in their life.KEYWORDS: self-care, Diabetic patients, IRA

    The effects of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) on peristaltic transport of Prandtl fluid in a symmetric channel have been studied under the assumptions of long wave length and low-Reynolds number. Channel walls are considered compliant in nature. Series solutions of axial velocity, stream function and temperature are given by using regular perturbation technique for small values of Prandtl fluid parameter. The effects of physical parameters on the velocity, streamlines and temperature are examined by plotting graphs

    The seasonal variation in diet composition and feeding strategy of Grammoplites suppositus (Troschel, 1840) (Family: Platycephalidae) in relation to its sex and size

    1848-1855The present study had investigated different aspects of feeding biology of Grammoplites suppositus. The G. suppositus was found to feed on crabs (26.85 %), zooplanktons (14.02 %), shrimps (18.78 %), fishes (10.83 %), gastropod (5.14 %), cephalopods (3.24 %) and miscellaneous (digested matter) food items (21.2 %).  The number and occurrence of food items vary in relation to sex and size of investigated species, although the variation was insignificant (P > 0.05). However the changing environmental conditions during monsoon, pre and post-monsoon season significantly (P < 0.05) influence the feeding intensity of the observed fish. The highest percentages of empty stomach were recorded during SW monsoon and post-monsoon which may be due to increased spawning activity. The GaSI ranged between 2.48 to 7.63 whereas, HSI ranged between 1.06 to 3.98. The cannibalism was only observed during monsoon season. The females feed less actively and showed highest percentage of cannibalism than males

    Systematic literature review of prediction techniques to identify work skillset

    A mismatch of skillsets is a main cause to the unemployment in Malaysia. It is a situation where the level and work skillset that are available do not match the market demands and the individual does not know how to identify the skills that they have. To deal with this problem, prediction techniques is used to assist in identifying work-appropriate skills for individual. Thus, a systematic literature review (SLR) on predicting work skillsets using prediction techniques is proposed. The aim of this study is to give an overview on the prediction techniques that have been used to predict work skillset and the accuracy of the techniques. We use SLR to identify 383 prediction techniques studies for identifying skills published from 2014 to 2019. As a result, 9 studies report adequate information and methodology according to our criteria and apply. From the studies, classification techniques are used for predicting work skillset. The algorithms used is Random Forest with precision is 99%. From this study, a future study will be conducted by developing a prediction model to help identifying appropriate work skillsets to meet current needs and identifying the levels of skills they have. The significant of this study is the researchers are able to understand deeply about the prediction techniques used to identify work skillset and the accuracy of the techniques used

    Real-time NMR spectroscopy has proven to be a rapid and an effective monitoring tool to study the hypervalent iodine(III) mediated cyclopropanation. With the ever increasing number of new synthetic methods for carbon−carbon bond formation, the NMR in situ\textit{in situ} monitoring of reactions is becoming a highly desirable enabling method.
