Comunidades bentónicas de la plataforma continental argentina, campañas transección BIP "Oca Balda" 1987/88/89: transection cruises R/V "Oca Balda" 1987/88/89

The macrobenthic assemblages of Buenos Aires Province continental shelf were studied from samples collected by the R/V "Capitán Oca Balda" along a transect from 38 m to 218 m depth. Three faunistic areas were determined, corresponding to the coastal, central and external shelf, inhabited by species originate d from the Argentine and/or Magellanic Zoogeographical Provinces. These results confirm the presence of different ecological areas in the Argentine Continental Shelf.Realizou-se sete amostras ao largo de uma transecta na plataforma continental do Estado de Buenos Aires durante os anos de 1987, 1988 e 1989, com BIP "Capitán Oca Balda". As amostras foram coletadas em cinco estações de amostragem a 38 m (estação 1), 59 m (estação 2), 65 m (estação 3), 85 m (estação 4) e 124 m de profundidade (estação 5). Adquiriu-se amostras adicionais em três oportunidades à 218 m de profundidade (estação Adicional 1). As amostras foram feitas usando um arrasto tipo Picard, com bolsa fechada; o material obtido foi processado a bordo e no laboratório de acordo com métodos convencionais. A estrutura da comunidade foi analisada usando índice IR, índice de Diversidade H' e Curvas de Rarefação. As análises de agrupamento (modos O e R, índice de Sorensen-Dice) foram aplicadas usando a técnica UPGMA. Foram determinadas três áreas faunísticas bem diferenciadas: Área A (estações 1 e 2), área B (estação 3) e área C (estações 4, 5 e Ad. 1). As espécies foram agrupadas segundo sua origem zoogeográfica (Província Argentina e/ou Magalhanica). Tanto os resultados faunísticos como os sedimentológicos mostraram coencidência com estudos prévios da plataforma continental argentina

Synchronous Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Auricular Myxoma

Synchronic occurrence of benign and malignant tumors is extremely rare. Fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma represents 1% to 2% of all hepatocarcinomas, while myxomas represent about half of all the cases of primary tumors of the heart. We present the case of a 53-year-old woman with a left atrial myxoma that was surgically removed. Several weeks later, the patient returned to the hospital with abdominal pain. CT scan showed a mass in the left lobe of the liver that was resected and diagnosed as fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma. As of this writing, the patient is healthy
