Centro parroquial Harksheide-Stüberg Alemania Federal
The Centre of the Evangelic Lutheran Community in Harksheide-Stüberg, situated in the midst of spacious green lawns, consists of two independent constructions with a central open patio in between, where the entrances to the social gathering premises are located.
The smallest building, one storey only, is designed for the kindergarten. It comprises: three meeting rooms for groups, play room, office for the director, and housing for the person in charge of the kindergarten, washrooms and kitchen.
The other two-storeyed building is entirely planned for the grown-up community, containing on the ground-floor: chapel, club for retired people, meeting room and a room for games, administration department and the dúplex housing for the parson. On the top floor are distributed: library, room for religious teaching, offices and two houses - one for the sacristan and the other one for the deaconess.
In the construction traditional systems and materials have been used, and whenever possible the natural surfaces have been maintained. In this manner, a pleasant contrast of textures and colours has been achieved, as well as great simplicity in the lines, in perfect harmony with the country side setting.

Reduction of Magnetic Noise in Atom Chips by Material Optimization
We discuss the contribution of the material type in metal wires to the
electromagnetic fluctuations in magnetic microtraps close to the surface of an
atom chip. We show that significant reduction of the magnetic noise can be
achieved by replacing the pure noble metal wires with their dilute alloys. The
alloy composition provides an additional degree of freedom which enables a
controlled reduction of both magnetic noise and resistivity if the atom chip is
cooled. In addition, we provide a careful re-analysis of the magnetically
induced trap loss observed by Yu-Ju Lin et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 050404
(2004)] and find good agreement with an improved theory.Comment: 25 pages with 9 figures ep
High failure rate of the interspinous distraction device (X-Stop) for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis caused by degenerative spondylolisthesis
The X-Stop interspinous distraction device has shown to be an attractive alternative to conventional surgical procedures in the treatment of symptomatic degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. However, the effectiveness of the X-Stop in symptomatic degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis caused by degenerative spondylolisthesis is not known. A cohort of 12 consecutive patients with symptomatic lumbar spinal stenosis caused by degenerative spondylolisthesis were treated with the X-Stop interspinous distraction device. All patients had low back pain, neurogenic claudication and radiculopathy. Pre-operative radiographs revealed an average slip of 19.6%. MRI of the lumbosacral spine showed a severe stenosis. In ten patients, the X-Stop was placed at the L4–5 level, whereas two patients were treated at both, L3–4 and L4–5 level. The mean follow-up was 30.3 months. In eight patients a complete relief of symptoms was observed post-operatively, whereas the remaining 4 patients experienced no relief of symptoms. Recurrence of pain, neurogenic claudication, and worsening of neurological symptoms was observed in three patients within 24 months. Post-operative radiographs and MRI did not show any changes in the percentage of slip or spinal dimensions. Finally, secondary surgical treatment by decompression with posterolateral fusion was performed in seven patients (58%) within 24 months. In conclusion, the X-Stop interspinous distraction device showed an extremely high failure rate, defined as surgical re-intervention, after short term follow-up in patients with spinal stenosis caused by degenerative spondylolisthesis. We do not recommend the X-Stop for the treatment of spinal stenosis complicating degenerative spondylolisthesis
PAS-positive lymphocyte vacuoles can be used as diagnostic screening test for Pompe disease
Screening of blood films for the presence of periodic acid-Schiff (PAS)-positive lymphocyte vacuoles is sometimes used to support the diagnosis of Pompe disease, but the actual diagnostic value is still unknown. We collected peripheral blood films from 65 untreated Pompe patients and 51 controls. Lymphocyte vacuolization was quantified using three methods: percentage vacuolated lymphocytes, percentage PAS-positive lymphocytes, and a PAS score depending on staining intensity. Diagnostic accuracy of the tests was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. All three methods fully discerned classic infantile patients from controls. The mean values of patients with milder forms of Pompe disease were significantly higher than those of controls, but full separation was not obtained. The area under the ROC curve was 0.98 for the percentage vacuolated lymphocytes (optimal cutoff value 3; sensitivity 91%, specificity 96%) and 0.99 for the percentage PAS-positive lymphocytes and PAS score (optimal cutoff value 9; sensitivity 100%, specificity 98%). Our data indicate that PAS-stained blood films can be used as a reliable screening tool to support a diagnosis of Pompe disease. The percentage of PAS-positive lymphocytes is convenient for use in clinical practice but should always be interpreted in combination with other clinical and laboratory parameters
