Being a father is an important task in a man’s life. This does not refer only to physical participation in the conception and birth of offspring, but also to the question of upbringing. That’s why, in many cultures there are texts giving advice on how to do it. In the Bible, we cannot find any instructions on how to be a good father, but there are characters who try to fulfill this role. One of them was King David who had many children and loved them very much, although his attitude toward them was not always fully responsible. Thanks to the biblical texts, it is possible to observe how David fulfilled his role as a father. Ważnym zadaniem w życiu mężczyzny jest bycie ojcem. Mass-spectrometric study of single-walled carbon nanotubes modified by aliphatic amines

The gas-phase derivatization procedure was employed for direct (i.e., without chemical activation of terminal carboxylic groups) amidization of oxidized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with simple aliphatic amines. The procedure includes treatment of SWNTs with amine vapors under reduced pressure and temperature of 160-170ºC. Applicability of temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry for chemical characterization of the derivatized SWNTs was analyzed. Heating of the amine-treated SWNTs at temperature >200ºC causes cleavage of alkenes from the amine residues: nonene and pentene are formed in the case of nonylamine and dipentylamine, respectively

Solvothermal synthesis of lanthanide-functionalized graphene oxide nanocomposites

We propose a facile approach to the preparation of graphene oxide (GO) composites with lanthanide (Ln) oxide/hydroxide nanoparticles (Ln = La, Eu, Gd, Tb) under relatively mild conditions by two different procedures of solvothermal synthesis. The mechanism of GO-Ln nanocomposite formation is thought to involve the initial coordination of Ln3+ ions to the oxygen-containing groups of GO as nucleation sites, followed by f Ln2O3 and Ln(OH)3 nanoparticle growth. The nanocomposites obtained preserve the intrinsic planar honeycomb-like structures of graphene as proven by the typical G and D bands in the Raman spectra. Fourier-transform infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirm the interaction between oxygen-containing groups of GO and Ln ions. The size and distribution of Ln oxide/hydroxide nanoparticles on GO sheets, estimated from scanning and transmission electron microscopy images, vary broadly for the different lanthanides. The size can span from sub-nm dimensions for Eu oxide to more than 10 μm for Eu hydroxide nanoparticles. The most homogeneous distribution of Ln oxide/hydroxide nanoparticles was found in La-containing composites. Thermogravimetric analysis demonstrated that all the GO-Ln nanocomposites are thermally less stable, by up to 30 °C than pristine GO.</p

Coming Out in Poland

Coming out of the closet, a concept originating in American culture and consistent with the paradigm of conversion, has been embraced by many Polish LGBT+ activists. However, literary coming-out narratives have played a relatively minor role in Polish homoerotic writings while a prominent American gay coming-out novel has not had significant resonance after it was published in Polish translation, suggesting that neither the coming-out story nor the rhetorical act of coming out has been adopted without reservation. Moreover, a contemporary call for Polish lesbian women and gay men to come out in order to promote marriage equality seems more directly aligned with the present-day U.S. political context than with any broadly accepted local activist position on the question of same-sex marriage. Given the absence of consensus about the meaning and the goal of coming out, or even its appropriateness, verbal coming out cannot function as performative speech in the Polish context, where it is better understood as periperformative speech (Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick)

However the commentary to the Book of Jonah apparently does not exist. Although when we read very carefully his writings we can notice that this book was known to him very well. He used it in various situations to give reasons for his statements using a verbal sense of the biblical story. But the most frequent and important use of this book is reading it according to the typology of Christ. Besides these interpretations Ambrose showed moral sense of biblical text, especially with reference to the people of Nineveh, which conversion should be an example for others.Św. They believed next generation would be blessed because o f God 's promise for Abraham. Also arising Christianity treated bim as a progenitor. But a character o f his paternity changed. Christians put an accent o f his very strong faith instead of physical aspect o f his fatherhood. Fathers' of the Church teaching came in the same way, although they saw bim also as an example o f father in the physical aspect

In creating people God wanted them to live in a community. For this reason they possessed ability to make relationships with each other. Although through their sins they diminished this ability and destroyed the harmony in the world they had lived. In His mercy God tried to lead people to the primary ideal in various ways, what we can see in the biblical prehistory. But the situation of the Babel’s builders seems to be an opposite act. The story might suggest that Creator destroyed unity of people by confusion of languages. However, detailed analysis of this biblical text shows what is the true message resulted from this story and what is its place in the teaching of the Holy Scripture
