Inventory model of deteriorating items for nonlinear holding cost with time dependent demand.
The objective of this model is to investigate the inventory system for perishable items where time proportional deterioration rate is considered. The Economic order quantity is determined for minimizing the average total cost per unit time. Time dependent demand rate is used with finite time horizon. Nonlinear holding cost with shortage is considered. The result is illustrated with numerical example
Ecological health assessment of a coastal ecosystem: Case study of the largest brackish water lagoon of Asia
This study focuses on the ecological health assessment of Chilika, a shallow lagoon present in east coast of India, through nutrient stoichiometry and trophic state index (TSI). Multivariate statistical analysis such as ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and Discriminant Analysis (DA) were employed for data interpretation. Nutrient stoichiometry revealed that the Chilika Lagoon experiences phosphorus limitation with regard to nitrogen and silicate (N:P:Si = 16:1:16) throughout the study period. As per the computed TSI values, the southern sector (SS), central sector (CS), and outer channel (OC) were assigned with a mesotrophic status, whereas the northern sector (NS) was assigned with the eutrophic status. From PCA, total nitrogen was found to be negatively correlated with salinity and positively correlated with silicate, thus indicating that the major source of nitrogen in the lagoon was freshwater ingress by rivers with high silicate content. DA indicated that it was successful in discriminating the groups as predicted
Quantum state-dependent diffusion and multiplicative noise: a microscopic approach
The state-dependent diffusion, which concerns the Brownian motion of a
particle in inhomogeneous media has been described phenomenologically in a
number of ways. Based on a system-reservoir nonlinear coupling model we present
a microscopic approach to quantum state-dependent diffusion and multiplicative
noise in terms of a quantum Markovian Langevin description and an associated
Fokker-Planck equation in position space in the overdamped limit. We examine
the thermodynamic consistency and explore the possibility of observing a
quantum current, a generic quantum effect, as a consequence of this
state-dependent diffusion similar to one proposed by B\"{u}ttiker [Z. Phys. B
{\bf 68}, 161 (1987)] in a classical context several years ago.Comment: To be published in Journal of Statistical Physics 28 pages, 3 figure
Probabilistic Fuzzy Goal Programming Problems Involving Pareto Distribution: Some Additive Approaches
In many real-life decision making problems, probabilistic fuzzy goal programming problems are used where some of the input parameters of the problem are considered as random variables with fuzzy aspiration levels. In the present paper, a linearly constrained probabilistic fuzzy goal programming programming problem is presented where the right hand side parameters in some constraints follows Pareto distribution with known mean and variance. Also the aspiration levels are considered as fuzzy. Further, simple, weighted, and preemptive additive approaches are discussed for probabilistic fuzzy goal programming model. These additive approaches are employed to aggregating the membership values and form crisp equivalent deterministic models. The resulting models are then solved by using standard linear mathematical programming techniques. The developed methodology and solution procedures are illustrated with a numerical example
