This paper presents the results of irrigation performance assessment madealong the canal reaches of community-managed Hare irrigation scheme inSouthern Ethiopia. Field measurement, interview, group discussion andmeasurement of water supply were undertaken, and output performanceindicators were assessed. Measurements of cropping intensity, irrigationinterval and productivity show that there is a distinct difference inperformance along the main canal. Upstream water users always have easyaccess to water, higher annual income and resource base than those inmidstream and downstream. Disparity among users occurs due to lack offunctional institutions and poor conditions of water distribution systems
