Transient modelling and simulation of a switched reluctance machine in different operating modes

    Get PDF
An appropriate numerical computational method and simplest model captures the performance of Switched Reluctance Machines (SRMs). Several papers and computer software-based simulation models are reported in the literature. Each model has its own merits and demerits. This paper proposes a mathematical model, based on a combination of voltage and mechanical equations, suitable for the transient running of a switched reluctance machine. The simulation results of current, torque and speed profile of SRM are produced under current chopping control and voltage pulse width modulation control. The proposed work has used experimental data of flux linkage and static torque in the mathematical model for best performance and control of the machine. The obtained simulation results are verified with experimental results. This model can be extended to a range of rotor position where the machine can be switched at decreased and increased inductance region which gives motoring and generating operation mode

Wheat is recognized as one of the most important dietary elements due to its high nutritious content and thus, has become greatest food option all over the world. Phosphorus (P) being major plant food nutrient plays a vital role multiple functions of plant growth and development. The current study was carried out to compare the performance of phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) as bio-fertilizer with commercially available phosphate fertilizers on wheat crop. The trial was designed in randomized complete block (RCB) replicated thrice. 6 different sources of phosphate fertilizers (Di-ammonium phosphate as DAP, Nitrophos as NP, Single super phosphate as SSP, Restore as PSB, Marathon as PSB, Nitrogen (N2) fixing bacteria as PSB) followed by control were evaluated for agronomic, physiological and quality attributes of wheat. The results showed that most of the qualitative traits were significantly influenced by different treatments. However, application of N2 fixing bacteria was more significant in all treatments. Highest total viable count of colony-forming units (14.63×106 at 3-WAS & 17.70×106 after harvest CFU g-1), maximum tillers’ count (337 m-2), grains’ count (45.57 spike-1), grain yield (2714.3 kg ha-1), LAI (0.67 & 1.16 at 56 & 112 DAS), CGR (13.59 g day-1 m-2), photosynthesis rate (26.13 µ mol m-2 sec-1) and flag leaf sugar content (0.24%) were recorded on account of using N2-fixing bacteria applied as PSB. Moreover, NPK content in shoot, grain as well as uptake of NPK by grain were also received as highest in the same treatment. Based on research findings, it is concluded that application of N2-fixing bacteria as PSB (7.5 kg ha-1) might be increasing wheat production in Dera Ismail Khan and other areas of similar environment in Pakistan

Clinical and Laboratory Parameters of Carp Edema Virus Disease: A Case Report

    Get PDF
In the present study, we describe a natural outbreak of carp edema virus disease (CEVD) in koi carp, concentrating on clinical manifestation, gross and microscopic pathology, immunological parameters, viral diagnostics, and phylogenetic analysis. Examination of white blood cell parameters showed increased monocyte and decreased lymphocyte counts in CEV-affected fish compared to healthy control fish. Regarding immune system functioning, the present work shows, for the first time, enhanced phagocytic activity in CEV-affected fish. Respiratory burst of phagocytes was strongly increased in diseased fish, the increase being attributed to an increased phagocyte count rather than enhancement of their metabolic activity. The present work also newly shows histopathological changes in the pancreatic tissue of diseased koi.O

Literature and ethics are two different realms of knowledge but their harmonious relationship and synchronism establish the enduring literary values. Amplification or debasing of one at the cost of other diminishes the role and significance of both. The coerce expression of ethical values transforms it into a piece of propaganda and makes the literature jugglery of words divesting it from social, religious and contemporary imperatives. Hence there is a great need that equilibrium and evenness be maintained between the aesthetic and ethical considerations so that artistic and cultivated incorporation of ethical values may enrich the significance and meaningfulness of literature.  </p

Fish diseases refer to any condition that affects the health and well-being of fish, whether in the wild or in captivity. Fish are vulnerable to a variety of diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and other pathogens. The prevalence and severity of these diseases vary widely, depending on the species of fish, the environmental conditions, and the management practices. Fish have a complex immune system that allows them to respond to a variety of diseases. Their immune system includes both innate and adaptive responses, which work together to protect them from infections. Innate immunity is the first line of defense and includes physical barriers such as the skin, scales, and mucus, as well as cellular and humoral responses that can quickly recognize and respond to pathogens. These responses include the activation of phagocytic cells such as macrophages and neutrophils, the release of antimicrobial peptides, and the production of reactive oxygen species. Adaptive immunity, on the other hand, is a more specific and targeted response that is mediated by T and B lymphocytes. These cells can recognize and respond to specific pathogens, and can develop immunological memory, allowing for a faster and stronger response to subsequent infections. When a fish encounters a pathogen, its immune system is activated, and a series of responses are initiated. The exact response depends on the pathogen and the fish species, but generally involves the recruitment of immune cells to the site of infection, the activation of phagocytic cells to engulf and destroy the pathogen, and the production of cytokines to stimulate the immune response. Cytokines specially help to coordinate the immune response and ensure that the appropriate mechanisms are activated to fight the infection. The initial investigation of the thesis provides a comprehensive review of cytokine responses in common carp exposed to CEV, CyHV-3, SVCV and Aeromonas hydrophila infections. It aims to synthesize existing literature on immune responses, particularly cytokine expression, and highlights the essential role of cytokines as inflammatory mediators and their mechanisms in response to both pathogenic and non-pathogenic immunostimulants in common carp. The production of these cytokines may result in various symptoms and signs of infections, which can lead to the recruitment of inflammatory cells that play an important role in clearing up different infections. Furthermore, this study provides insights into the ways by which cytokines can be used to diagnose and combat disease in common carp. Further, the examination of the immune response of carp to CEV infection using gene expression profiling and qPCR was carried out. The expression patterns of eleven immune-related genes were monitored in four different carp strains. The expression patterns of several immune-related genes were found to be similar across all carp strains and genogroups, while some significant differences were observed in koi carp infected with both CEV genogroups. Additionally, a resemblance was observed in the expression pattern of several genes between KSD-resistant AS strain and koi. Furthermore, the observed increase in mRNA expression of several immune related genes indicates a broader mucosal immune response triggered by CEV. Overall, these results provide essential insights into the immunological response of carp to infectious diseases and may help to develop effective management strategies for preventing and controlling CEV disease in aquaculture

Cytokines Studied in Carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) in Response to Important Diseases

    No full text
Cytokines belong to the most widely studied group of intracellular molecules involved in the function of the immune system. Their secretion is induced by various infectious stimuli. Cytokine release by host cells has been extensively used as a powerful tool for studying immune reactions in the early stages of viral and bacterial infections. Recently, research attention has shifted to the investigation of cytokine responses using mRNA expression, an essential mechanism related to pathogenic and nonpathogenic-immune stimulants in fish. This review represents the current knowledge of cytokine responses to infectious diseases in the common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.). Given the paucity of literature on cytokine responses to many infections in carp, only select viral diseases, such as koi herpesvirus disease (KHVD), spring viremia of carp (SVC), and carp edema virus disease (CEVD), are discussed. Aeromonas hydrophila is one of the most studied bacterial pathogens associated with cytokine responses in common carp. Therefore, the cytokine-based immunoreactivity raised by this specific bacterial pathogen is also highlighted in this review
