Linear and structural stability of a cell division process model
The paper investigates the linear stability of mammalian
physiology time-delayed flow for three distinct cases (normal cell
cycle, a neoplasmic cell cycle, and multiple cell arrest states),
for the Dirac, uniform, and exponential distributions. For the
Dirac distribution case, it is shown that the model exhibits a
Hopf bifurcation for certain values of the parameters involved in
the system. As well, for these values, the structural stability of
the SODE is studied, using the five KCC-invariants of the
second-order canonical extension of the SODE, and all the cases
prove to be Jacobi unstable
APPLICATIONS OF THE MEAN CURVATURE FLOW ASSOCIATED TO ANISOTROPIC GENERALIZED LAGRANGE METRICS IN IMAGE PROCESSING
The Geodesic Active Field (GAF) approach from image processing - whose mathematical background is the Riemannian theory of submanifolds, was recently extended by the authors to the Finslerian setting, for certain specific metrics of Randers type. The present work studies the significantly more flexible Generalized Lagrange (GL) extension, which allows a versatile adapting of the GAF process to Finslerian, pseudo-Finslerian and Lagrangian structures. The mathematically essential GAF mean curvature flow PDEs of three such GL structures (Randers-Ingarden, Synge-Beil and proper Generalized Lagrange) are explicitly obtained, discussed, implemented, and their corresponding feature evolution is compared with the classic results produced by the established original Riemannian GAF model
The customized therapeutic approach of a giant pancreatic pseudocyst. A case report and literature review
Giant pancreatic pseudocysts are considered those cysts whose dimensions exceed 10 cm and are sporadically reported in the literature. Although there are multiple treatment modalities, there are currently no treatment guidelines or consensus on the best therapeutic approach for giant pancreatic pseudocysts. We report the case of a 32-year-old male patient with a giant pancreatic pseudocyst after an episode of acute pancreatitis, which was treated by internal surgical drainage through cyst-jejunal anastomosis. This surgical procedure was followed by the formation of a retroperitoneal abscess which was resolved by ultrasound-guided drainage. The subsequent evolution of the patient was favorable, without other complications. Given their complex anatomical relations, the treatment of giant pseudocysts requires strategies adapted to the local conditions. The optimal choice of the operative time and of the therapeutic strategy is based on clinical considerations and the effectiveness of the method used can be assessed by a long-term follow-up
Treatment and Diagnosis’ optimization in epithelial colorectal neoplasia
Catedra Chirurgie nr.2, USMF „Nicolae Testemițanu“In this study are presented the treatment and diagnosis aspects of epithelial colorectal neoplasia (ECRN). During the period of 2007-2012, in “Surgery 2” Clinic of State Medicine and Pharmacy University “Nicolae Testemiţanu” from The Republican Clinical Hospital, in the Department of “Colorectal Surgery”, there were admitted 70 pacients (both with a definite and a probable diagnose) with ECRN including: single or multiple adenomatous polyps with a sporadic or hereditary character, familial adenomatous polyposis and malignant polyps. Endoscopic treatment was applied in 57 cases , while surgery, using laparotomy, was applied in 13 cases. Patients’ age was between 15 and 84 years.
Extension of in vivo half-life of biologically active molecules by XTEN protein polymers
AbstractXTEN™ is a class of unstructured hydrophilic, biodegradable protein polymers designed to increase the half-lives of therapeutic peptides and proteins. XTEN polymers and XTEN fusion proteins are typically expressed in Escherichia coli and purified by conventional protein chromatography as monodisperse polypeptides of exact length and sequence. Unstructured XTEN polypeptides have hydrodynamic volumes significantly larger than typical globular proteins of similar mass, thus imparting a bulking effect to the therapeutic payloads attached to them. Since their invention, XTEN polypeptides have been utilized to extend the half-lives of a variety of peptide- and protein-based therapeutics. Multiple clinical and preclinical studies and related drug discovery and development efforts are in progress. This review details the most current understanding of physicochemical properties and biological behavior of XTEN and XTENylated molecules. Additionally, the development path and status of several advanced drug discovery and development efforts are highlighted
The importance of male reproductive health in the dynamics of environmental change
The problem of reproduction of healthy offspring has a special significance, and
the directed formation of reproductive health is mainly determined by the morphofunctional integrity of the reproductive cells. The decline in male fertility rates is
closely linked to phylogenetic factors, lifestyle and environmental factors in recent
decades. Maintaining the physiological functionality of the reproductive system is
one of the priority tasks of society
