Differential Ballistic Response of Aramid-Glass Fibre Laminates to Soft and Hard Shots .
Ballistic perfonnance of all-glass, all-aramid and aramid-glass fibre-reinforced phenolic resincomposite laminates has been evaluated against 0.30 in. calibre soft ball and hard armour piercing (AP) bullets. It is observed that mass effective ness of glass fibre phenolic composites against impacts by APbullets can be improved by aramid fibre'reinforcement in the back of laminate. The perfonnance of a ramid phenolic composites against ball ammunition can be improved by hybridisation with glass fibre reinforcement at the front
Majorana neutrino transition magnetic moments in left-right symmetric models
Transition magnetic moments of Majorana neutrinos are discussed in the frame
of the most natural version of the LR model (with left- and right-handed
triplets and a bidoublet in the Higgs sector). We show that their largest
values could be at most from diagrams with in the
loop. This could happen for specific models where (i) neutrino-charged lepton
mixing is maximal and (ii) (VEVs for neutral Higgs
fields in the bidoublet are equal). Contributions from diagrams with
charged Higgses in the loop are smaller than those in the SM with right-handed
neutrinos.Comment: 4 pages. Presented at the ICHEP Conference, Vancouver, 1998. To

Method development and validation of a reversed phase HPLC method for determination of Anastrazole and Temozolomide in pharmaceutical dosage form
A new simple assay method has been developed and validated for the determination of Anastrazole and Temozolomide using reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography in their pharmaceutical dosage form. The chromatographic separation was performed on an Inertsil ODS (4.6 x 150mm, 5m) using mobile phase phosphate buffer pH 3.0 and methanol of 30:70% v/v at a flow rate of 0.8mL/min. Analytes were detected at 260nm. The method was found to be linear in the concentration range of 1-5μg/mL for both medicaments with the coefficient value (R2) of >0.999. The accuracy was measured via recovery studies and found to be acceptable and the percentage recoveries were found in the range of 98.81-100.720 and 99.290-100.700%. The proposed method was successfully validated and applied for the quantitative estimation of these drugs in both bulk and tablet dosage forms. © 2020 Author(s)
Erythrocyte aldose reductase activity and sorbitol levels in diabetic retinopathy
PurposeActivation of polyol pathway due to increased aldose reductase (ALR2) activity has been implicated in the development of diabetic complications including diabetic retinopathy (DR), a leading cause of blindness. However, the relationship between hyperglycemia-induced activation of polyol pathway in retina and DR is still uncertain. We investigated the relationship between ALR2 levels and human DR by measuring ALR2 activity and its product, sorbitol, in erythrocytes.MethodsWe enrolled 362 type 2 diabetic subjects (T2D) with and without DR and 66 normal subjects in this clinical case-control study. Clinical evaluation of DR in T2D patients was done by fundus examination. ALR2 activity and sorbitol levels along with glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C) levels in erythrocytes were determined.ResultsT2D patients with DR showed significantly higher specific activity of ALR2 as compared to T2D patients without DR. Elevated levels of sorbitol in T2D patients with DR, as compared to T2D patients without DR, corroborated the increased ALR2 activity in erythrocytes of DR patients. However, the increased ALR2 activity was not significantly associated with diabetes duration, age, and HbA1C in both the DR group and total T2D subjects.ConclusionsLevels of ALR2 activity as well as sorbitol in erythrocytes may have value as a quantitative trait to be included among other markers to establish a risk profile for development of DR
Axion Protection from Flavor
The QCD axion fails to solve the strong CP problem unless all explicit PQ
violating, Planck-suppressed, dimension n<10 operators are forbidden or have
exponentially small coefficients. We show that all theories with a QCD axion
contain an irreducible source of explicit PQ violation which is proportional to
the determinant of the Yukawa interaction matrix of colored fermions.
Generically, this contribution is of low operator dimension and will
drastically destabilize the axion potential, so its suppression is a necessary
condition for solving the strong CP problem. We propose a mechanism whereby the
PQ symmetry is kept exact up to n=12 with the help of the very same flavor
symmetries which generate the hierarchical quark masses and mixings of the SM.
This "axion flavor protection" is straightforwardly realized in theories which
employ radiative fermion mass generation and grand unification. A universal
feature of this construction is that the heavy quark Yukawa couplings are
generated at the PQ breaking scale.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure
Human Health Monitoring System
The main objective of this paper is to avoid the usage of human monitoring over a wide range of areas where every single object must be observed and to be attended in critical cases. The developed model is useful to check and analyze the condition of each patient/bed in a area for the pre-defined parameters such as temperature, heart beat rate and can be used to measure parameters like hypertension, panic button etc., and to send an alert message to the doctor/ nurse whenever there is a mismatch in the health condition of the patient for the pre defined values set by the user. The health monitoring kit can be fixed at each and every bed in hospitals. This Health Monitoring System is designed using Arduino Uno series micro controller, 16X2 Dot Matrix LCD Display, Eight channel ADC0809 and GSM modem
Influence of Pongamia, Mahua and Neem cakes on finger millet productivity and soil fertility
A field experiment conducted at Bio-fuel park, Agricultural Research Station, Madenur, Hassan in Kharif season of 2009 to asses the performance of finger millet (Eleusine coracana L.) under different organic manure treatment consisting of four treatments viz., recommended FYM and NPK through inorganic fertilizers as control, Pongamia, Mahua and Neem cake with 5 replications laid in randomized complete block design. The results revealed that application of recommended FYM along with neem cake equivalent to 100% recommended N performedbetter in respect of finger millet productivity and maintenance of soil fertility followed by recommended FYM with 100% NPK through fertilizers. Nutrient supplementation with different oilcakes proved superior in respect of soil sustainability
A Model of Quark and Lepton Masses I: The Neutrino Sector
If neutrinos have masses, why are they so tiny? Are these masses of the Dirac
type or of the Majorana type? We are already familiar with the mechanism of how
to obtain a tiny Majorana neutrino mass by the famous see-saw mechanism. The
question is: Can one build a model in which a tiny Dirac neutrino mass arises
in a more or less "natural" way? What would be the phenomenological
consequences of such a scenario, other than just merely reproducing the
neutrino mass patterns for the oscillation data? In this article, a systematic
and detailed analysis of a model is presented, with, as key components, the
introduction of a family symmetry as well as a new SU(2) symmetry for the
right-handed neutrinos. In particular, in addition to the calculations of light
neutrino Dirac masses, interesting phenomenological implications of the model
will be presented.Comment: 25 (single-spaced) pages, 11 figures, corrected some typos in Table

RP-HPLC Method for the Simultaneous Analysis of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Nitazoxanide in API and Tablet Dosage Form
Present work is aimed to develop a new simple, fat, rapid, accurate, efficient, and reproducible RP-HPLC method for the simultaneous analysis of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Nitazoxanide in API& tablet dosage form. The chromatographic separation was performed using phenomenex C18 Column having dimensions of 4.6x250mm having particle size of 5 μm, with mobile phase consisting of Buffer PH-3.5 and Acetonitrile (40:60% v/v), flow rate was adjusted to 1.0ml/min and detection wavelength at 235 nm. The proposed method has been validated for linearity, range, precision, accuracy and robustness were within the acceptance limit according to the ICH Q2B guidelines. The retention times of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Nitazoxanide were 2.985 mins and 5.581 mins respectively. The linearity was performed in the concentration in the range of 7.5 μg/ml to 45 μg/ml and 25 μg/ml to 150 μg/ml and with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 and 0.999 respectively. % RSD for system precision was found to be 0.212 and 0.160% RSD for repeatability 0.2 and 0.12, % RSD for intermediate precision was 0.06 and 0.06 respectively. The % percentage purity of Ambroxol Hydrochloride and Nitazoxanide was found to be 99.93% and 99.35% respectively. The method was found to be robust even by change in the mobile phase ±5% in less flow condition. © 2022 Author(s)
Statistical Properties of Contact Maps
A contact map is a simple representation of the structure of proteins and
other chain-like macromolecules. This representation is quite amenable to
numerical studies of folding. We show that the number of contact maps
corresponding to the possible configurations of a polypeptide chain of N amino
acids, represented by (N-1)-step self avoiding walks on a lattice, grows
exponentially with N for all dimensions D>1. We carry out exact enumerations in
D=2 on the square and triangular lattices for walks of up to 20 steps and
investigate various statistical properties of contact maps corresponding to
such walks. We also study the exact statistics of contact maps generated by
walks on a ladder.Comment: Latex file, 15 pages, 12 eps figures. To appear on Phys. Rev.
