Hubungan Pola Komunikasi Keluarga dengan Gaya Keibubapaan dan Kejelekitan dalam Keluarga

Pola komunikasi keluarga memainkan peranan penting dalam perkembangan sesebuah keluarga. Ia dilihat bukan sekadar satu cara untuk berhubung, tetapi turut dijadikan alat pengukur untuk mengetahui setakat mana kebahagiaan dan keharmonian dalam keluarga terutama dalam hubungan ibubapa-anak. Kajian ini telah mengenal pasti gaya keibubapaan (gaya autoritarian dan gaya demokratik) dan kejelekitan dalam keluarga (kesepakatan, bertolak ansur, penyataan kasih sayang) sebagai faktor yang boleh mempengaruhi pola komunikasi keluarga. Objektif khusus kajian ini adalah bagi (1) mengenal pasti pola komunikasi keluarga responden, (2) mengenal pasti gaya keibubapaan responden, (3) mengenal pasti tahap kejelekitan dalam keluarga responden, dan (4) mengenal pasti perkaitan antara gaya keibubapaan dan kejelekitan dalam keluarga dengan pola komunikasi keluarga responden. Interaksi dalam komunikasi keluarga ini adalah berdasarkan model koorientasi.Sampel (n = 390) sama ada ibu atau bapa yang terdiri dari ‘keluarga lengkap’ adalah merupakan sampel kajian ini. Data telah dikumpulkan secara kaedah tinjauan dengan mengggunakan borang soal selidik. Data yang terkumpul telah dianalisis menggunakan SPSS (Ver. 15) dengan prosedur statistik deskriptif iaitu kekerapan, peratusan, median dan sisihan piawai. Statistik inferensi juga digunakan untuk menerangkan hubungan antara pembolehubah yang dikaji iaitu dengan menggunakan statistik Korelasi Spearman rho. Hasil kajian menunjukkan responden kajian ini menggunakan kedua-dua pola komunikasi keluarga orientasi conversation dan orientasi conformity yang tinggi. Analisis korelasi Spearman menunjukkan gaya demokratik, kesepakatan, bertolak ansur dan penyataan kasih sayang berkait secara signifikan dengan komunikasi orientasi conversation. Manakala gaya autoritarian, kesepakatan, bertolak ansur dan penyataan kasih sayang berkait secara signifikan dengan komunikasi orientasi conformity. Kesimpulannya, kajian ini mendapati kesepakatan, bertolak ansur dan penyataan kasih sayang yang berkait dengan pola komunikasi keluarga orientasi conversation dan orientasi conformity dan gaya demokratik yang berkait dengan pola komunikasi keluarga orientasi conversation dalam keluarga dapat menimbulkan impak positif kepada fungsi dan kesejahteraan ahli keluarga. Manakala gaya autoritarian yang berkait dengan pola komunikasi keluarga orientasi conformity menimbulkan impak yang sebaliknya. Adalah dicadangkan kajian selanjutnya dilakukan dengan menggunakan pembolehubah-pembolehubah lain yang dapat dikaitkan dengan pola komunikasi keluarga

Confirmatory Factor Analysis on Family Communication Patterns Measurement

AbstractMeasurement of Family Communication Patterns is widely used to measure the communication in family practice by many researchers. This measurement was developed by McLeod and Chaffee in 1972 and was later revised by Fitzpatrick and Ritchie in 1994. Family Communication Patterns measurement consists of two dimensions, namely conversation orientation and conformity orientation. The objectives of this study were (i) to evaluate the measurement of Family Communication Patterns by CFA, (ii) to know the reliability of the model, and (iii) to prove the validity of the model. The results showed that the resulting model from measurement of family communication pattern using CFA. The findings also show items and the number of items resulting from the CFA. The resulting model will help next researchers especially in studies related to family communication

Social networking sites in cyberspace community in Malaysia / Abdul Rauf Ridzuan…[et.al]

This study is done in order to find the level of social networking sites among multiethnic users in Malaysia. Social networking sites are chosen as they bring many benefits to the users. This study used social capital theory as foundations theories for model development. The minimum sample size was determined through G⃰Power analysis. The study involved 482 respondents, selected through a cluster sampling technique involving three main ethnics in Malaysia. A cross sectional survey and structured questionnaire were used for data collection. All variables were measured through scales previously used by other researchers. Re-examining Family Communication Pattern: The Confirmatory Factor Analysis

Objective: The purpose of this paper is to determine whether the model for Revised Family Communication Pattern (RFCP) can be used to measure the communication patterns within a family.Methodology: A survey questionnaire was administered to 500 respondents but only 380 of them were deemed useable. Prior to this, a pilot study was undertaken in which an internal alpha procedure was conducted to determine the reliability of the variables for this study. Similarly, the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was also performed to confirm the factor structure so that variables with low factor loading could be excluded. On the other hand, the variable with highest factor loading was identified and then rigorously explained in regard to this model.Results: More than 50% of the respondents had agreed with the item B9 of the conversation orientation and B17 of the conformity orientation thus, indicating that the model is useful in measuring the communication patterns within a family after omitting several effect indicators that had severe negative impact on estimation.Implications: When the value of factor loading of a variable is low, fitting the variable in the model will result in the model becoming a misfit that ends with a discussion about the underlying factor structure that is fruitless. This study is particularly useful for practitioners who need to identify variables that are suitable for research on family communication. Besides that, this paper also provides valuable reference for researchers to consider the adoption of RFCP based on conversation and conformity orientations in Malaysia
