Avoided ferromagnetic quantum critical point: Unusual short-range ordered state in CeFePO
Cerium 4f electronic spin dynamics in single crystals of the heavy-fermion
system CeFePO is studied by means of ac-susceptibility, specific heat and
muon-spin relaxation (SR). Short-range static magnetism occurs below the
freezing temperature Tg ~ 0.7 K, which prevents the system from accessing the
putative ferromagnetic quantum critical point. In the SR, the
sample-averaged muon asymmetry function is dominated by strongly inhomogeneous
spin fluctuations below 10 K and exhibits a characteristic time-field scaling
relation expected from glassy spin dynamics, strongly evidencing cooperative
and critical spin fluctuations. The overall behavior can be ascribed neither to
canonical spin glasses nor other disorder-driven mechanisms.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in Physical Review

Muon-spin-rotation measurements of the penetration depth in Li_2Pd_3B
Measurements of the magnetic field penetration depth in the ternary
boride superconductor LiPdB ( K) have been carried out by
means of muon-spin rotation (SR). The absolute values of , the
Ginzburg-Landau parameter , and the first and the second
critical fields at T=0 obtained from SR were found to be
nm, , mT, and
T, respectively. The zero-temperature value of the
superconducting gap 1.31(3) meV was found, corresponding to the
ratio . At low temperatures saturates and
becomes constant below , in agreement with what is expected for
s-wave BCS superconductors. Our results suggest that LiPdB is a s-wave
BCS superconductor with the only one isotropic energy gap.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figure
Constrained by managerialism : caring as participation in the voluntary social services
The data in this study show that care is a connective process, underlying and motivating participation and as a force that compels involvement in the lives of others, care is at least a micro-participative process. Care or affinity not only persisted in the face of opposition, but it was also used by workers as a counter discourse and set of practices with which to resist the erosion of worker participation and open up less autonomized practices and ways of connecting with fellow staff, clients and the communities they served. The data suggest that while managerialism and taylorised practice models may remove or reduce opportunities for worker participation, care is a theme or storyline that gave workers other ways to understand their work and why they did it, as well as ways they were prepared to resist managerial priorities and directives, including the erosion of various kinds of direct and indirect participation. The degree of resistance possible, even in the highly technocratic worksite in Australia, shows that cracks and fissures exist within managerialism
Ruling Out Possible Secondary Stars to Exoplanet Host Stars Using the CHARA Array
Of the over 450 exoplanets known to date, more than 420 of them have been
discovered using radial velocity studies, a method that tells nothing about the
inclination of the planet's orbit. Because it is more likely that the companion
is a planetary-mass object in a moderate- to high-inclination orbit than a
low-mass stellar object in a nearly face-on orbit, the secondary bodies are
presumed to be planets. Interferometric observations allow us to inspect the
angular diameter fit residuals to calibrated visibilities in order to rule out
the possibility of a low-mass stellar companion in a very low-inclination
orbit. We used the Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy (CHARA) Array
interferometer to observe 20 exoplanet host stars and considered five potential
secondary spectral types: G5 V, K0 V, K5 V, M0 V, and M5 V. If a secondary star
is present and is sufficiently bright, the effects of the added light will
appear in interferometric observations where the planet will not. All secondary
types could be eliminated from consideration for 7 host stars and no secondary
stars of any spectral type could be ruled out for 7 more. The remaining 6 host

Study of the magnetic penetration depth in RbOs_2O_6
Measurements of the magnetic field penetration depth \lambda in the
pyrochlore superconductor RbOs_2O_6 (T_c\simeq6.3 K) were carried out by means
of the muon-spin-rotation (\muSR) technique. At low temperatures
\lambda^{-2}(T) saturates and becomes constant below T\simeq 0.2T_c, in
agreement with what is expected for weak-coupled s-wave BCS superconductors.
The value of \lambda at T=0 was found to be in the range of 250 nm to 300 nm.
\muSR and equilibrium magnetization measurements both reveal that at low
temperatures is almost (at the level of 10%) independent of the
applied magnetic field. This result suggests that the superconducting energy
gap in RbOs_2O_6 is isotropic.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figure
Microscopic Study of the Superconducting State of the Iron Pnictide RbFe_2As_2
A study of the temperature and field dependence of the penetration depth
\lambda of the superconductor RbFe_2As_2 (T_c=2.52 K) was carried out by means
of muon-spin rotation measurements. In addition to the zero temperature value
of the penetration depth \lambda(0)=267(5) nm, a determination of the upper
critical field B_c2(0)=2.6(2) T was obtained. The temperature dependence of the
superconducting carrier concentration is discussed within the framework of a
multi-gap scenario. Compared to the other "122" systems which exhibit much
higher Fermi level, a strong reduction of the large gap BCS ratio 2\Delta/k_B
T_c is observed. This is interpreted as a consequence of the absence of
interband processes. Indications of possible pair-breaking effect are also

State-of-the-art in product service-systems
A Product Service-System (PSS) is an integrated combination of products and services.
This western concept embraces a service-led competitive strategy, environmental sustainability,
and the basis to differentiate from competitors who simply offer lower priced products. This
paper aims to report the state-of-the-art of PSS research by presenting a clinical review of
literature currently available on this topic. The literature is classified and the major outcomes
of each study are addressed and analysed. On this basis, this paper defines the PSS concept,
reports on its origin and features, gives examples of applications along with potential benefits
and barriers to adoption, summarises available tools and methodologies, and identifies future
research challenges
