Fuzzy Logic Controlled Shunt Active Power Filter for Harmonic Compensation and Power Quality Improvement

    No full text
In this paper, a shunt active power filter based on fuzzy logic controller is modeled, simulated, and tested. The fundament of Instantaneous Reactive Power Algorithm is used for extracting compensated reference harmonic current. A fuzzy logic controlled shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) Using Hysteresis Band Current (HBC) is applied to regulate the DC capacitor voltage of (SAPF) in order to improve the active filter dynamic, to ensure sinusoidal source currents and to produce a high power quality. The main goal of the proposed active filtering system is to maintain the THD well within IEEE-519 on harmonics levels. Simulation results through MATLAB/Simulink are presented and interpreted. It is demonstrated that the fuzzy logic controller improves the performance of the active power filter. The implementation of a shunt active power filter has high performance characteristics by using dSPACE syste

Conventional six-switch inverters, designed for balanced three-phase systems, face challenges in low-voltage networks with mixed single-phase and three-phase loads, leading to voltage imbalances. This imbalance adversely affects equipment, especially protection devices and power electronic converters. The increasing use of power electronic devices in industries with nonlinear loads has driven the adoption of four-leg inverters to handle neutral currents during unbalanced load connections in three-phase networks. This shift introduces challenges in pulse width modulation, particularly in the application of Space Vector Modulation (SVM). This work proposes a novel control strategy using a direct 3D-SVM approach, effectively determining switch states for voltage capacitor balancing and precise output current control. The study\u27s main focus is presenting an advanced control strategy for a four-leg inverter utilizing the 3D-SVM technique to operate efficiently under highly unbalanced loads in distribution networks. The goal is to achieve balanced output voltages and currents under varying load conditions while maintaining the desired variable output frequency. Simulation results validate the proposed control strategy, showing a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of output current is 2.06% at 50 Hz and 2.55% at 25 Hz under balanced load, same thing in second case under unbalanced load, the THD is 1.65% at 50 Hz and 2.10% at 25 Hz. with similar under nonlinear load, the THD is 1.94% at 50 Hz and 2.46% at 25 Hz. Importantly, all outcomes fall within IEEE Standard 519-1992 for harmonic limits, highlighting the robustness and reliability of the proposed control approach

Dam Foundation Treatment: High Stress Watetightness

    No full text
By its dual function of consolidation and sealing, injection treatment is the most appropriate process to solve the majority of problems in the most diverse soils. Concerning a foundation, the use of this treatment makes it possible to reduce or eliminate karst risks by taking into account the geological implications of each region. However, its effectiveness is difficult to measure, especially when it comes to the treatment of a dam site where the waterthigtness of the foundation is essential for overall stability. A control of the parameters that regulate the injectability of the karst as well as a good knowledge of the karst environment allows the correct evaluation of the nature of the products and the methods of implementation of the grout curtain guaranteeing the safety of the structure. It is from this perspective that a statistical study of karst anomalies was carried out on the foundation of El Ghrass dam in order to define an adequate distribution of these karsts, which is essential for the determination of the pattern of injection (drilling spacing, alignments) necessary for the preparation of the quantities of the injection market

PSO optimized PID regulator for a variable frequency brushless synchronous generator

The aim of this paper is to describe development of a new control structure for Automatic Voltage Regulator system. This approach is based on the optimization of the control voltage magnitude of a brushless excitation synchronous alternator machine operating at variable speed. The choice of the machine type is justified by its attractiveness in several areas such as the aircraft domain due to its autonomy and robustness. The considered control technique is based on the simultaneous optimization of two regulators introduced in the loop control. The parameters of the Proportional Integral Derivatives (PID) regulator have been optimized using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), which is considered as an attractive method considering the wide operating speed range, and the load variations compared with the classical methods such as Ziegler Nichols. Many robustness tests are carried out by considering the parameters variations as well as the perturbation connection and disconnection of the load at low and high speeds

AbstractThis paper presents a modeling and a robust control of doubly fed induction generator for wind generation system. The whole system is presented in d-q-synchronous reference frame. The regulation of the electromagnetic torque, stator reactive power control and neuronal controller are applied in order to control the rotor currents of the DFIG. For to improve the controller robustness, the study is validated through simulation using software Matlab/Simulink, studies on a 1.5 MW DFIG wind generation system compared with conventional proportional integral controller. Performance and robustness results obtained will be presented and analyzed
