Approaches of prosperity in the globalization era

    Get PDF
Into the 21st century, the meaning of prosperity has gone beyond material wealth. Many of the economists asks themselves what prosperity really means, as it is a problem studied from many years and it does not have an unique and general accepted definition. As Indira Gandhi said: „Freedom is indivisible …peace is indivisible …economic prosperity is indivisible”, we can say that the issue is still of interest and in the same time it is controversial. Starting from such aspects, this paper aims to emphasize some different approaches of the concept of prosperity.economy, prosperity, growth, progress, wellbeing.

Nanoformulation as a Tool for Improve the Pharmacological Profile of Platinum and Ruthenium Anticancer Drugs

    Get PDF
Cisplatin and analogs are used for the treatment of some type of cancers in combination with organic cytostatics. Also, two ruthenium (III) complexes are in clinical trials as anticancer drugs. In order to overcome toxicity and resistance associated with this therapy and/or enhance stability, a large variety of formulations based on organic, inorganic, or hybrid matrix were developed and tested both in vivo and in vitro. The best results were obtained for systems properly functionalized in order to enhance the metal content and/or to specific target the tumor tissue through overexpressed receptors

Producción CientíficaThis Research Topic collects different contributions in the emerging field of bioanalysis, highlighting the most relevant advances reported in the literature as well as some original research studies in medical and pharmaceutical bioanalysis. The first article of this Topic (Antonacci et al.), describes in a detailed review state of the art the paper-based electrochemical devices for pharmaceutical field. In the last few decades, scientific research has been trying to offer valid and reliable solutions to replace or support conventional techniques, in order to facilitate drug development procedures. These innovative approaches may have extremely positive effects in the production chain, supplying fast and cost-effective quality and safety tests on active pharmaceutical ingredients and their excipients. In this context, the exploitation of electrochemical paper-based analytical devices is still in its infancy, but particularly promising for its fascinating properties in the detection of active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients in tablets, capsules, suppositories, and injections, as well as for pharmacokinetic bioanalysis in real samples

    Get PDF
The present paper is focused on designing and manufacturing a remote-control test bench for RPA\u27s brushless motors. The main components of the testing bench (structural, mechanical and electric components) are presented, how they are coupled, and the operating principle. The test bench is characterized by five emergency systems, one manual and four automated emergency systems that can stop the test under different conditions to avoid damaging the motor. To validate the testing bench, a SK3-5045 660 kV electric motor was selected along with a carbon fibre reinforced composite propeller. It was experimentally demonstrated that the test bench was fully automated, there were measured the propulsion force, current intensity, voltage, but also the consumed power of a motor intended for an RPA. The test results were used to determine the motorization performance and power consumption of an RPA designed with four electric motors (quadcopter type)

Chitosan Membranes Containing Plant Extracts: Preparation, Characterization and Antimicrobial Properties

    Get PDF
The main strategy of this study was to combine the traditional perspective of using medicinal extracts with polymeric scaffolds manufactured by an engineering approach to fabricate a potential dressing product with antimicrobial properties. Thus, chitosan-based membranes containing S. officinalis and H. perforatum extracts were developed and their suitability as novel dressing materials was investigated. The morphology of the chitosan-based films was assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the chemical structure characterization was performed via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The addition of the plant extracts increased the sorption capacity of the studied fluids, mainly at the membrane with S. officinalis extract. The membranes with 4% chitosan embedded with both plant extracts maintained their integrity after being immersed for 14 days in incubation media, especially in PBS. The antibacterial activities were determined by the modified Kirby–Bauer disk diffusion method for Gram-positive (S. aureus ATCC 25923, MRSA ATCC 43300) and Gram-negative (E. coli ATCC 25922, P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853) microorganisms. The antibacterial property was enhanced by incorporating the plant extracts into chitosan films. The outcome of the study reveals that the obtained chitosan-based membranes are promising candidates to be used as a wound dressing due to their good physico-chemical and antimicrobial properties

The rural sustainable development through renewable energy. The case of Romania

    Get PDF
The study aims to analyze the importance of renewable energy and to assess the progress made by Romania comparing to European Union and to targets set by Community institutions. We consider that both economic issues such as job creation or reduction of import dependency, but also ecological issues including reducing greenhouse gas emissions are important in discussions about renewable energy in rural areas in Romania. By using linear regression it has been identified a strong correlation in Romania, for period 2004–2014, between share of renewable resources in gross final energy consumption and import dependency. Taking into account that energetic independence is a problem of great importance for each country, the paper aims to identify unused renewable energy potential in rural areas and also opportunities for developing renewable energy sector based on the resources that can be exploited with high efficiency, action that will generate economic and social positive effects. Our results reveal that Romania has a high development potential of rural areas using renewable energy because Romania has a high volume of renewable resources (sun, wind, water). Under these circumstances it is necessary to adopt the policies in order to support projects referring to these types of energy
