Efficient Local Computation of Differential Bisimulations via Coupling and Up-to Methods

We introduce polynomial couplings, a generalization of probabilistic couplings, to develop an algorithm for the computation of equivalence relations which can be interpreted as a lifting of probabilistic bisimulation to polynomial differential equations, a ubiquitous model of dynamical systems across science and engineering. The algorithm enjoys polynomial time complexity and complements classical partition-refinement approaches because: (a) it implements a local exploration of the system, possibly yielding equivalences that do not necessarily involve the inspection of the whole system of differential equations; (b) it can be enhanced by up-to techniques; and (c) it allows the specification of pairs which ought not be included in the output. Using a prototype, these advantages are demonstrated on case studies from systems biology for applications to model reduction and comparison. Notably, we report four orders of magnitude smaller runtimes than partition-refinement approaches when disproving equivalences between Markov chains

La fortuna argentina de Hannah Arendt

El artículo presenta un mapa de las “primeras” lecturas de las obras de Hannah en Argentina, desde su primera introducción en 1942 hasta 1969, vía la publicación y traducción de algunos de sus artículos. El arco de lectores alcanza a publicaciones político-culturales editadas por diferentes organizaciones y promotores de la cultura judaica, agrupaciones de refugiados alemanes del antinazismo, y entusiastas latinoamericanistas difusores de la cultura alemana. Se focaliza en el modo en que las variaciones a lo largo del proceso constituyen una expresión de algunos posicionamientos y prácticas propias las redes culturales locales e internacionales, configurando un destino particular de estas obras, que anuda a la filósofa judía con la excéntrica pensadora de la política

Políticas feministas y memorias del terrorismo de Estado en la Argentina.

This piece explores the confluence of protest politics of the human rights movement and feminisms about memories of State terrorism in Argentina. For this, I analyze a corpus built on three emerging scenes of the Argentinian memory process in which the "feminist fantasy" upsets temporalities, affects and subjects of those memories. The first of these scenes goes through the exhibitions on violence against women under the dictatorship inaugurated in 2019 and 2020 at the ESMA Museum and Site of Memory (Buenos Aires). The second takes up the testimonial trajectory of a survivor of the clandestine detention center of the Information Service of the Police Headquarters (Rosario). The third scene analyzes images and slogans of the street actions of the group HIJ♀S (“Daughters at HIJOS”) at the National Meeting of Women (La Plata, 2019). These interventions from the present on the memories of sexual and gender violence during the dictatorship display “fantastic/fantasy” forms of transversal and transgenerational elaboration, establishing unforeseen bridges with contemporary political practices, reworking genealogies and lineages to tell other stories.En este trabajo exploro la confluencia de políticas de protesta del movimiento de derechos humanos y de los feminismos en la elaboración de memorias del terrorismo de Estado en la Argentina. Para ello analizo un corpus construido en tres escenas emergentes del proceso de memoria argentino en las cuales la “fantasía feminista” trastoca las temporalidades, los afectos y los sujetos. La primera de estas escenas recorre las muestras inauguradas en 2019 y 2020 en el Museo Sitio de Memoria ESMA (Buenos Aires) sobre la violencia contra las mujeres bajo la dictadura. La segunda retoma la trayectoria testimonial de una sobreviviente del centro clandestino de detención del Servicio de Informaciones de la Jefatura de la Policía (Rosario). La tercera trama imágenes y consignas de las intervenciones callejeras de HIJ♀S (“Hijas en HIJOS”) en el Encuentro Nacional de Mujeres (La Plata, 2019). Estas intervenciones desde el presente sobre las memorias de la violencia sexual y de género en dictadura plantean formas “fantásticas/fantasiosas” de elaboración transversal y transgeneracional, estableciendo puentes impensados con las prácticas políticas contemporáneas, reelaborando genealogías y linajes para contar otras historias

XML Schema - Best Practices

An XML Schema is a particular XML document allowing to validate the content and the structure of XML data. This paper aims to describe a series of "Best Practices" for designing XML Schemas. The guidelines explain pros and cons about some design issues in order to help a schema designer to make the right decisions. The first section presents the base concepts about XML Schema, exploring the main components of a schema: namespaces, simple and complex elements, simple and complex type, attributes and other components. The second section shows a series of best practices related to some design issues like: the use of namespaces; the hiding or exposing of namespaces; about a declaration of element or type the choice between global or local way; about the declaration of an item the choice between element and type; the use of zero, one or more namespaces; the creation of an element that has a variable content; about the design of a schema the choice between to build type hierarchies (design by subclassing) or aggregate components (design by composition); the creation of extensible content models; the extension of schemas; the use between URL and URN in namespaces; the versioning of XML Schema and the hierarchy of substitutionGroup elements

Los psicofármacos modernos, con su importante expansión por el mundo, constituyen actualmente una tecnología que ha logrado ir más allá de los límites de la medicina y la industria farmacéutica. Su circulación en sociedades contemporáneas ha tenido impactos sociales, culturales y subjetivos, que han hecho de ellos objeto de grandes discusiones y debates no sólo en la esfera técnica de su aplicación, sino también en ámbitos académicos y no académicos. Este interés en el papel de los productos farmacéuticos en las sociedades contemporáneas pone al descubierto el gran influjo que la industria farmacéutica y sus especialidades poseen sobre nuestra vida cotidiana, no sólo como usuarios o prescriptores de medicamentos, sino también como sujetos que incorporan en su horizonte de posibilidades de existencia lo farmacéutico como modo de pensarse a sí mismos y a los otros. Los psicofármacos en tanto “respuesta tecnológica” al sufrimiento humano emergen como punto de cruce de diversos sentidos e interpretaciones sobre el padecimiento, aquellos que padecen, el bienestar, quienes lo proporcionan y los medios para conseguirlo. Desde el grupo de investigación “Clínica, saberes psicológicos y tecnociencia psicofarmacológica” que integramos en la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de la República, impulsamos el abordaje del estado actual de la tecnociencia psicofarmacológica y su relación a los saberes psicológicos (psicología, psiquiatría y psicoanálisis)

Quadrupole scan emittance measurements for the ELI-NP compton gamma source

The high brightness electron LINAC of the Compton Gamma Source at the ELI Nuclear Physics facility in Roma- nia is accelerating a train of 32 bunches with a nominal total charge of 250 pC and nominal spacing of 16 ns . To achieve the design gamma flux, all the bunches along the train must have the designed Twiss parameters. Beam sizes are mea- sured with optical transition radiation monitors, allowing a quadrupole scan for Twiss parameters measurements. Since focusing the whole bunch train on the screen may lead to permanent screen damage, we investigate non-conventional scans such as scans around a maximum of the beam size or scans with a controlled minimum spot size.
