Comprehensive multidimensional liquid chromatography for advancing environmental and natural products research
Chromatography is the separation method of choice in most laboratories worldwide. Nonetheless, the increasing need to decode complex samples has created a demand for better separation skills. The addition of extra separation dimensions to a conventional liquid chromatography system was one of the ways to answer to this demand. Although very common in proteomics and polymer research, the use of Multidimensional Liquid Chromatography (MDLC) coupled to high-resolution detectors for separation and analysis of environmental and natural products samples has yet to receive the deserved attention. This article presents a critical review on the most prominent of these comprehensive MDLC methods for targeted and untargeted analysis of complex environmental and natural products samples. This article also discusses the practical aspects of applying peak capacity and orthogonality concepts in MDLC analysis of complex matrices. Quantifying Quantum Correlations in Fermionic Systems using Witness Operators
We present a method to quantify quantum correlations in arbitrary systems of
indistinguishable fermions using witness operators. The method associates the
problem of finding the optimal entan- glement witness of a state with a class
of problems known as semidefinite programs (SDPs), which can be solved
efficiently with arbitrary accuracy. Based on these optimal witnesses, we
introduce a measure of quantum correlations which has an interpretation
analogous to the Generalized Robust- ness of entanglement. We also extend the
notion of quantum discord to the case of indistinguishable fermions, and
propose a geometric quantifier, which is compared to our entanglement measure.
Our numerical results show a remarkable equivalence between the proposed
Generalized Robustness and the Schliemann concurrence, which are equal for pure
states. For mixed states, the Schliemann con- currence presents itself as an
upper bound for the Generalized Robustness. The quantum discord is also found

A Robust Semidefinite Programming Approach to the Separability Problem
We express the optimization of entanglement witnesses for arbitrary bipartite
states in terms of a class of convex optimization problems known as Robust
Semidefinite Programs (RSDP). We propose, using well known properties of RSDP,
several new sufficient tests for the separability of mixed states. Our results

Geometrically induced singular behavior of entanglement
We show that the geometry of the set of quantum states plays a crucial role
in the behavior of entanglement in different physical systems. More
specifically it is shown that singular points at the border of the set of
unentangled states appear as singularities in the dynamics of entanglement of
smoothly varying quantum states. We illustrate this result by implementing a
photonic parametric down conversion experiment. Moreover, this effect is

Produção e qualidade de uvas de mesa Sugraone sobre diferentes porta-enxertos no Submédio do Vale do São Francisco.
O presente trabalho teve como objetivos avaliar o comportamento agronômico da cultivar de uva de mesa sem sementes Sugraone sobre quatro porta-enxertos nas condições do Submédio do Vale do São Francisco. O experimento foi conduzido em um vinhedo comercial no municÃpio de Sento Sé-BA durante quatro ciclos de produção (2002 à 2004), em sistema de condução do tipo latada e irrigação por gotejamento. Os tratamentos consistiram de quatro cultivares de porta-enxerto ('Paulsen 1103', 'SO4', 'Harmony' e '420A'), utilizando-se delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso. Foram obtidas maiores produções por planta e vigor vegetativo sobre o porta-enxerto 'Paulsen 1103'. Também observou-se uma tendência de maior massa de cachos, massa e tamanho de bagas sobre este porta-enxerto, embora tenham ocorrido variações entre os ciclos de produção. O porta-enxerto exerceu influência sobre o teor de sólidos solúveis totais, mas não afetou a acidez total e a relação SST/ATT dos frutos

O programa de melhoramento genético do abacaxizeiro na Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura iniciou em 1978 com o estabelecimento do Banco Ativo de Germoplasma, seguido da caracterização de seus acessos.
