THE PRICE COMPETITIVENESS OF HUNGARIAN WINES IN EUROPEAN UNION MARKETS

In the case of homogeneous goods (corn, eggs, milk, etc.) the price differential between products is the strongest determinant of success in market competition. In these days, however, it is more and more the highly processed foodstuffs that land on the consumer’s table. Wine is one of these. This study appraises the price competitiveness of Hungarian wines on EU markets. The question is to what extent do price differences determine the competitiveness of wine on potential markets? Or does a lower price give a real advantage to a special product like wine? Or is the demand for a product due to factors other than price? Our findings show that most Hungarian wines, except bottled white quality wines, are compatible on EU markets as far as prices are concerned. However, the quantity of wine merchandised is at least as important as the price level. I tried combine the price level with the quantity merchandised and evaluate them together in terms of the so-called “quality competitivenessâ€. According to this approach bottled white quality wines came out to be competitive, because despite rising prices this was only category able to increase its market share. A price advantage over competitors does not necessarily mean increased competitiveness, which in the case of wines can only be explained by other less obvious reasons. It is important to emphasis that national averages are presented in this study, whereas brands, wineries and wine growing regions are present on the markets. Ma már a fogyasztók asztalára azonban egyre inkább a magas feldolgozottságú élelmiszerek kerülnek. Ezek közé tartozik a bor is. A tanulmány a magyar borok árversenyképességét értékeli az Európai Unió piacán. Kérdés, hogy az árkülönbség mennyire meghatározója a bor versenyképességének a potenciális piacon, illetve az árelÅ‘ny komoly jelentÅ‘séggel bír-e speciális termékek (bor) esetében vagy itt is sokkal inkább más tényezÅ‘kre vezethetÅ‘ vissza a termék iránti kereslet alakulása. Az eredményekbÅ‘l megállapítható, hogy a magyar borok zöme versenyképes az árak alapján az EU piacán a fehér minÅ‘ségi palackozott borok kivételével (mivel ez a kategória magasabb áron értékesült, mint a többi beszállító és a belsÅ‘ nagy termelÅ‘k borai). Az árak alakulása mellett azonban az értékesített mennyiség is legalább ilyen fontos. Megpróbáltam összekapcsolni az árak alakulását az értékesített mennyiséggel és együttesen értékelni az ún. „minÅ‘ségi versenyképességetâ€. Ezen módszer szerint viszont a fehér minÅ‘ségi palackozott bor versenyképes, mivel a növekvÅ‘ árak ellenére ez az egyetlen kategória, mely képes volt növelni piaci részesedését. Az árelÅ‘ny a versenytársakkal szemben tehát nem jelenti feltétlenül a versenyképesség megnyilvánulását is, az sokkal inkább más mögöttes okokkal magyarázható a bor esetében. Fontos azonban hangsúlyozni, hogy a tanulmányban az országos átlagok jelennek meg, míg a piacokon márkák, pincészetek és borvidékek. A magyar élelmiszer-ipari termékek helyzete az Európai Unió piacán

Magyarország élelmiszer-gazdasági exportja az EU-csatlakozás óta jelentősen növekedett, és az Európai Unió piaca egyre nagyobb részarányt képvisel az összes kivitelben az EU-n kívüli piacokhoz képest. A tanulmány célja, hogy értékelje a magyar élelmiszer-ipari termékek export-versenyképességét az Európai Unió piacán. A konstans piaci részesedés (CMS - modell) alapján megállapítható, hogy az élelmiszer-ipari termékek esetében a piacnagysághatás és a versenyképességi hatás jelentős volt az EU piacán. FOOD PREFERENCE OF CHRYSOLINA FASTUOSA ADULTS (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE)

Chrysolina fastuosa (Scopoli, 1763) is a widely distributed chrysomelid beetle in Europe. According to the literature C. fastuosa has been found in association with Lamiaceae plants such as Ballota nigra L., Galeopsis pubescens Besser, Lamium album L. and Urtica dioica L. (Urticaceae). Host plants have been referred often merely on plant genus level and many authors listed host plants for C. fastuosa which taxonomically differed significantly from one another. In spite of many references which mention consumption and/or association of Ch. fastuosa on stinging nettle, the author has almost never observed the beetle on Urtica species. This paper presents results of two laboratory experiments showing feeding preference of C. fastuosa adults concerning some Lamiaceae (B. nigra, Lamium purpureum L. and Lamium amplexicaule L.) but not on U. dioica. B. nigra seems to be one of the most preferable host plant species under natural and experimental conditions

Decision tree combined with neural networks for financial forecast

In this article I would like to introduce a hybrid adaptive method. There is wide range of financial forecasts. This method is focusing on the economical default forecast, but the method can be used generally for other financial forecasts as well, for example for calculating the Value at Risk.This hybrid method is combined by two classical adaptive methods: the decision trees and the artificial neural networks. In this article I will show the structure of the hybrid method, the problems which occurred during the construction of the model and the solutions for the problems. I will show the results of the model and compare them with the results of another financial default forecast model. I will analyse the results and the reliability of the method and I will show how the parameters can influence the reliability of the results

The aim of the present study is the investigation of body sway in model-situation. in our experiments the representative biathlon tearn of Hungary. seven subjects (age: 16-28 years) as well as university students (eight subjects) have been tested. The equipment we used include microcomputer and a personal computer as well as a force platform. Two types of programs have been used for the measurements to study the movement coordination skill and the maintaining of equilibrium. The classic Romberg tests have been completed with measurements of the Equilibrium and displacement of centre of subjects in shooting position.
