Thermal stability of the essential oils isolated from Tunisian Thymus capitatus Hoff. et Link.: Effect on the chemical composition and the antioxidant and antibacterial activities
The chemical composition, the antioxidant and the antibacterial activities of essential oils, isolated from the aerial parts of Tunisian Thymus capitatus during the flowering phase, and stored in the dark during 37 days in the oven, at 60 degrees C were evaluated. Samples taken periodically were used to evaluate the chemical composition, the antioxidant and the antibacterial activities. With some fluctuations, carvacrol (68-74%) was the major component of the oil independent of the storage period. alpha-Terpinene and gamma-terpinene decreased over time, whereas p-cymene increased in the same period. Despite the thirty-seven days of storage at 60 degrees C, T. capitatus essential oil still showed high antioxidant and stable antimicrobial activity
Antioxidant activity of twenty wild Spanish Thymus mastichina L. populations and its relation with their chemical composition
The antioxidant activity and chemical composition of essential oils and methanolic extracts of twenty Spanish Thymus mastichina L. populations were studied. Both essential oils and methanolic extracts possessed antioxidant properties. However, the total phenol contents of the methanolic extracts varied between 2.90 and 9.15mg GAE/g extract and the EC 25 values of DPPH free radical scavenging activity between 0.90 and 3.45mg/mL for the methanolic extracts and 78-241mg/mL for essential oils, these showing low antioxidant potential. Actually, in essential oils the main compound determined was the 1,8-cineole (56.8-69.6%), whereas thymol, γ-terpinene, terpinolene and geraniol (species with considerable DPPH scavenging activity) were observed in low amounts. Concerning methanolic extracts, rosmarinic acid was the most abundant polyphenol (1.70-9.85mg/g), followed by methoxysalicylic acid, apigenin, kaempferol and luteolin. The authors are grateful to the POCTEPePrograma Cooperação

Writing a Syntax of A. M. Kurbskijâs âNovyj Margaritâ. The âAnomalousâ Adjectival Locative of the Type v domu boĆŸiju Revisited
This article contains a case study of the syntactic analysis of works written by Prince Andrej MixajloviÄ Kurbskij (1528â1583). The case study is devoted to seemingly anomalous adjectival locatives in expressions like v domu boĆŸiju âin the house of Godâ and to their linguistic interpretation in Kurbskijâs East Slavic works, among them especially the âNovyj Margaritâ (NM). The NM is a collection of religious writings that predominantly consists of texts translated from Latin into Church Slavonic of the East Slavic recension. The paper illustrates major difficulties in the syntactic analysis of works from the Kurbskij corpus and
presents viable solutions. Based on Bounatirou (2018a), a number of issues are further
explored or expanded upon in greater detail. Thus, investigating the locative inflection -u
such as in v domu boĆŸiju, this article also analyses its occurrence in East Slavic literature
outside the NM in more detail
