Formação de agentes de ATER em sistemas agroflorestais: a experiência da região sudeste.

Este trabalho apresenta a experiência de realização de capacitação e formação em sistemas agroflorestais para técnicos de assistência técnica e extensão rural da região sudeste, num curso de 80 horas, denominado Extensão Rural e Sistemas Agroflorestais: especificidades e práticas que teve o objetivo de sensibilizar e envolver técnicos de nível médio e superior para a implantação e manejo de sistemas agroflorestais junto a grupo de agricultores familiares. O referido curso foi realizado numa parceria entre o (MDA), através de seu (DATER) da Secretaria de Agricultura Familiar (SAF), e a Faculdade de Engenharia Agrícola (FEAGRI) da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) num projeto denominado Redescobrindo Saberes: novos caminhos da ATER. Foram abordados temas como a contextualização e problematização da ATER em Sistemas Agroflorestais, histórico de uso e ocupação dos biomas da região Sudeste, princípios de ecologia e sustentabilidade florestal; classificação de tipos de sistemas agroflorestais e seus princípios ecológicos e socioeconômicos; planejamento, implantação, manejo, sistematização e monitoramento de sistemas agroflorestais; políticas públicas. As aulas tiveram reflexões teóricas em articulação com práticas vivenciadas, com a finalidade de estimular a participação dos alunos do curso em processos reflexivos, partindo de suas percepções e conhecimentos, de modo a propiciar a construção coletiva do conhecimento e sua aplicação prática. Um resultado importante baseado na teoria e vivência prática foi a de construção de conceitos pelo grupo, e outro, o comprometimento com a temática, bem como a preocupação com a continuidade das discussões gerais e mais pontuais

Deep-sea reverse osmosis desalination for energy efficient low salinity enhanced oil recovery

The decrease in the oil discoveries fuels the development of innovative and more efficient extraction processes. It has been demonstrated that Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR, or tertiary recovery technique) offers prospects for producing 30 to 60% of the oil originally trapped in the reservoir. Interestingly, oil extraction is significantly enhanced by the injection of low salinity water into oilfields, which is known as one of the EOR techniques. Surface Reverse Osmosis (SRO) plants have been adopted to provide the large and continuous amount of low salinity water for this EOR technique, especially in offshore sites. In this article, we outline an original solution for producing low salinity water for offshore EOR processes, and we demonstrate its energy convenience. In fact, the installation of reverse osmosis plants under the sea level (Deep-Sea Reverse Osmosis, DSRO) is found to have significant potential energy savings (up to 50%) with respect to traditional SRO ones. This convenience mainly arises from the non-ideality of reverse osmosis membranes and hydraulic machines, and it is especially evident - from both energy and technological point of view - when the permeate is kept pressurized at the outlet of the reverse osmosis elements. Estado e agroindústria de juta na Índia: lições para a Amazônia.

Este texto analisa o desenvolvimento da agroindústria de juta na Índia e a importância das ações governamentais para a sua manutenção. Trata-se de uma pesquisa documental, bibliográfica e de campo realizada no estado de West Bengal, com objetivo de produzir novos conhecimentos acerca dos fatores que possibilitaram o surgimento e a longevidade dessa atividade naquele país, visando fornecer subsídios teóricos e práticos para a revitalização da agroindústria de juta na Amazônia. As estratégias de investigação utilizadas constaram de uma revisão da literatura acerca do tema, na análise de documentos oficiais do governo indiano e das indústrias e, também, de visita às fábricas e às plantações. A manutenção de toda a cadeia produtiva da juta na Índia está ligada diretamente às ações do Estado que, por meio do Ministry of Textiles, atua fortemente no desenvolvimento dessa atividade, e não só desta, mas também de outras culturas que produzem fibras, como o rami, o sisal, o algodão, o kenaf e o linho

Evolution of the cosmic ray anisotropy above 10^{14} eV

The amplitude and phase of the cosmic ray anisotropy are well established experimentally between 10^{11} eV and 10^{14} eV. The study of their evolution into the energy region 10^{14}-10^{16} eV can provide a significant tool for the understanding of the steepening ("knee") of the primary spectrum. In this letter we extend the EAS-TOP measurement performed at E_0 around 10^{14} eV, to higher energies by using the full data set (8 years of data taking). Results derived at about 10^{14} and 4x10^{14} eV are compared and discussed. Hints of increasing amplitude and change of phase above 10^{14} eV are reported. The significance of the observation for the understanding of cosmic ray propagation is discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication on ApJ Letter

Early Rehabilitation in a Psychiatric Ward for Acute Patients: the Experience of the S.C. Psichiatria, Aou Maggiore Della Carit\ue0, Novara, Italy

Introduction Our Psychiatry Ward (SC Psichiatria, Maggiore della Carit\ue0 Hospital, Novara) has a longstanding tradition in the training of clinicians (psychiatrists, but also non-psychiatrists) about the importance of the approach in helping relationships. This tradition reflects itself in the organization of the assistance to the acute psychiatric inpatients admitted to the Ward. In addition to treatment as usual, patients have the opportunity of being involved in several group activities. The activities are proposed to them, with an approach that varies according to the patient's lifetime diagnosis, current conditions, relational difficulties, etc. In other words, different activities may be proposed to different patients, in different ways. Aims To describe the integrated treatment approach we use in our Psychiatry Ward. Methods Group activities are guided by a group leader who is supported by one or two assistants whose role is to facilitate discussion. Activities include: Newspaper Reading (everyday in the morning, 1 hour); Music Listening Group (once a week; 1 hour); Cinema Group (once a week; 2 hours and a half); Fairytale Group (on alternating days in the evening, 1 hour). Results More details will be supplied regarding the theoretical background for the group, the group features/implementation, and its specific objectives. Conclusions All the group activities integrate themselves in an early rehabilitation project tailored to each patients' characteristics and needs. Briefly, their main objectives include: 1) to help patients endorse their cognitive, emotional and relational skills; 2) to offer support to the crisis they are experiencing, which led them to admission to the Ward
