IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS BY USING JIGSAW TECHNIQUE AT THE SECOND YEAR OF SMAN 1 KALASAN YOGYAKARTA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2011/2012

The type of this research was action research. The study attempted to solve the problems related to the students’ reading comprehension. The objective of this research study is to improve reading comprehension of Grade XI students of SMAN 1 Kalasan through jigsaw technique. The steps of this research were reconnaissance, planning, conducting action and observation, and having reflection. The participants of the research were the researcher, the English teacher, and the students of Grade XI IPA of SMAN 1 Kalasan. There were two forms of the data in this study. They were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by doing observation, interviewing the students, the principal, the researcher’s assistant and the English teacher, making field notes, and holding the discussion with the English teacher as a collaborator. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were obtained from the students’ reading score of pre-test and post-test and they were analyzed by using descriptive statistics in SPSS 17 program. There were four elements of descriptive statistics in describing the result of test. Those were frequencies distribution, mean, standard deviation, and conversion table. Moreover, to know whether or not there was a significance of the students’ reading improvement between pre-test and post test score, the researcher used t-test. This research applied theoretical and time triangulation to get trustworthiness in analyzing the qualitative data. In addition, the validity of the qualitative data was obtained by applying democratic validity, outcome validity, and process validity. The results of the research show that using jigsaw technique can improve the students’ reading comprehension and the students’ reading involvement in the reading class because the findings reveal three results. First, the use of jigsaw can improve students’ reading comprehension. The students’ improvement is supported by the result of t-test analysis. According to the t statistic, t value = - 7.595; sig. = 0.000; it means that the score difference is significant because sig. < 0.05. Second, there were improvements of students’ involvement in the reading class toward the application of jigsaw technique. They were more active in every activity, they were willing to participate in the group discussion, and they were more serious to finish the tasks in groups. COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF WEBOMETRICS RANKING STATE AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITY IN INDONESIA RANKING WITH PROMETHEE AND VIKOR METHODS

The research was conducted to determine the comparative rank among academics website rank in Indonesia by using the promethee and vikor method with Webometrics rank. This study used two instruments, google search engine and web crawler socscibot. This research object is the top 10 state academic website in Indonesia and top 10 private academic website in Indonesia according to Webometrics rank release in July 2011. Twentieth academic website data retrieval is done using a web crawler and search engine google socscibot to determine visibility, size, rich files, and scholar. After the data was obtained then performed to obtain the results of calculations by the promethee and vikor method. The results were then compared with Webometrics rank the release in January 2012 by using spearman test and friedman test for hypotheses tested. The results showed (1) Spearman test promethee rank with the same vikor rank is significant, as evidenced by the value of rs count the value 0.9008 which is larger than 5% significance level that should be 0.3805. (2) Spearman test Webometrics rank with promethee rank is significantly different, as evidenced by the value of rs count value -0.1444 which is worth less than 5% significance level that should be worth 0.3805. (3) Spearman test Webometrics rank with vikor rank is significantly different, as evidenced by the value of rs count value -0.2797 which is worth less than 5% significance level that should be worth 0.3805. (4) Friedman test promethee rank, vikor rank, and Webometrics rank is a significant and equal, as evidenced by the calculated F-value 0.225, which is worth less than the significance level of 5% and 2 degrees of freedom that should be worth 6.300. Financial Difficulty Level to Accounting Conservatism has no effect on accounting conservatism and debt level has an effect on accounting conservatism. PENGEMBANGAN MODUL PENGGUNAAN MASTERCAM SEBAGAI MEDIA SIMULATOR PADA MATA PELAJARAN MEMPROGRAM MESIN NC/CNC DI SMK NEGERI 2 KLATEN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran dalam bentuk prototype modul penggunaan Mastercam sebagai media simulator pada mata pelajaran memprogram mesin NC/CNC, untuk meningkatkan keterampilan belajar siswa di SMK Negeri 2 Klaten, serta untuk mengetahui kelayakan modul Mastercam sebagai media simulator pada mata pelajaran praktik CNC di SMK Negeri 2 Klaten. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian pengembangan (research and development). Waktu pelaksanaan penelitian dimulai tanggal 03 Juli 2009 hingga 28 Januari 2012 (selama 3 tahun), yang dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 2 Klaten. Objek penelitian ini berupa pengembangan modul simulator Mastercam yang meliputi materi dasar-dasar penggunaan Mastercam, dan komponen-komponen penggunaan mesin CNC. Tahapan yang digunakan dalam penelitian pengembangan ini meliputi: (1) tahap studi pendahuluan (2) tahap pengembangan produk awal (3) tahap validasi produk (4) tahap uji coba terbatas I (5) tahap revisi I (6) tahap uji coba terbatas II (7) tahap revisi II (8) tahap uji coba III (9) revisi (10) produk akhir. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket sedangkan analisa data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif persentase yang diterjemahkan dalam distribusi skor dan dipersentase terhadap kategori skala kelayakan yang telah ditentukan. Berdasarkan uji kelayakan modul simulator Mastercam yang dikembangkan, menurut ahli media pembelajaran memperoleh kelayakan 95%; menurut ahli materi pihak dosen memperoleh kelayakan 93,33%, sedangkan menurut ahli materi pihak guru mendapat 93,33%; dari uji coba produk awal mendapat kelayakan 65,62%; dari uji coba terbatas I mendapat kelayakan 83,33%; dari uji coba terbatas II mendapat kelayakan 71,04%; sedangkan uji coba terbatas III mendapat kelayakan 75,30%. Berdasarkan persentase kelayakan yang didapat dari uji ahli, rekan sejawat dan siswa SMK Negeri 2 Klaten sebagai pengguna membuktikan bahwa modul simulator Mastercam yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran praktik CNC di SMK Negeri 2 Klaten

The focus of this research is to explain how service quality has competitiveness with other competitors. The subjects of this research were employees of the Front Office department at the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel. With the experience and knowledge that Front Office employees have, of course they can create good quality service and meet the standards expected by consumers. Apart from that, they as employees in the Front Office department are expected to be able to provide information and knowledge regarding the quality of service they have. The data analysis techniques used in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, the data collection methods we use are interviews, observation and data documentation. The results of this research are how service quality can increase the competitiveness of a company, especially services in order to win the competition for hotel market share in Malang City, especially for the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel. Fraksi Heksan Ekstrak Biji Pepaya Muda Dapat Menghambat Proses Spermatogenesis Mencit Jantan Lebih Besar Daripada Fraksi Metanol Ekstrak Biji Papaya Muda

Fraksi ekstrak heksan mengandung dua golongan zat aktif yang bersifat antifertilitas yaitu golongan steroid dan golongan triterpenoid yang diperkirakan bersifat antifertilitas, walupun mekanisme kerjanya belum jelas. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan ialah ‘' Pre-test post-test control group design''. Penelitian ini memakai 30 ekor mencit jantan strain balb C , umur sekitar 12 minggu dengan berat 20-22 gram, kemudian dikelompokkan secara random menjadi 3 kelompok yang masing-masing terdiri dari 10 ekor. Satu kelompok kontrol (P0 = yang diberikan aquabides), dan dua kelompok perlakuan (P1 = kelompok perlakuan yang diberikan fraksi heksan ekstrak 20 mg/20 gram/hari, P2 = kelompok perlakuan yang diberikan fraksi ekstrak metanol 20 mg/20 gram/hari). Setelah 36 hari perlakuan lalu dilakukan pemeriksaan testis dan darah mencit. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik dengan menggunakan uji normalitas Kolmogorov Smirnov Goodnees of Fit test, uji homogenitas, dan uji anova. Didapatkan hasil bahwa fraksi heksan ekstrak maupun metanol dapat menurunkan jumlah sel spermatogonia A, sel spermatosit primer pakhiten, sel spermatid, dan sel Sertoli secara sangat bermakna (p &lt; 0,01), sedangkan jumlah sel Leydig dan kadar hormon testosteron menurun tidak bermakna (p &gt; 0,05). Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa fraksi heksan ekstrak biji pepaya dapat menurunkan jumlah rata-rata sel spermatogonia A, spermatosit primer pakiten, spermatid, sel Sertoli, sel Leydig dan kadar hormon testosteron lebih besar dari pada fraksi metanol ekstrak biji pepaya muda
