In this study free radicals in some tooth and bone samples irradiated by 137Cs-γ source and their dosimetric properties have been investigated by using Electron Spin Resonans (ESR) method. Additive dose method has been applied to eigth number of these samples irradiated by gamma source. Irradiation range is from 76,25 Gy to 508,35 Gy. For all samples, equivalent dose (ED) has been determined by means of additive dose method. Archeologic dating has been performed by using equivalent dose values. ESR age has been found approximately in the range from to 10,4x103 to 54,6x103 years. The lowest equivalent dose has been found as 6,2 Gy from additive dose curve. The temperature dependence has been studied for three samples in the temperature range from 123K to 400 K. The intensity of ESR peak was found stable at room temperature. It has been observed that radical of carbon dioxide ( CO2 )occured by irradiation was stable after 12 hours. Retrospective dosimetry in an important aspect of radiation related accident investigation

“I’m Trying to be as Honest as I Can:” An Interview with James Baldwin (1969)

This is the first English language publication of an interview with James Baldwin (1924–87) conducted by Nazar Büyüm in 1969, Istanbul, Turkey. Deemed too long for conventional publication at the time, the interview re-emerged last year and reveals Baldwin’s attitudes about his literary antecedents and influences such as Richard Wright, Langston Hughes, and Countee Cullen; his views concerning the “roles” and “duties” of a writer; his assessment of his critics; his analysis of the power and message of the Nation of Islam; his lament about the corpses that are much of the history and fact of American life; an honest examination of the relationship of poor whites to American blacks; an interrogation of the “sickness” that characterizes Americans’ commitment to the fiction and mythology of “race,” as well as the perils and seductive nature of American power
