Road charging in the Czech Republic and EU and external costs of transport

In the paper the Czech toll system and its future are presented. E-toll Czech project: Facts and Figures (today) are included and the next steps in the process of developing microwave infrastructure are mentioned. In the event of possible system extension of the roads of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class (ca 55,000 km), the satellite technology will be used. The feasibility of such a combination of these two technologies, microwave and satellite, is subject to the compatibility of both systems in terms of the control equipment. For the microwave toll system, economic analyses according to EU directives were prepared for the Czech Ministry of Transport. Special attention is paid to the problems of traffic congestion, noise and damage to the environment, on the basis of the "user pays" and "polluter pays" according to the Eurovignette Directive principles. Hotel Artia

Diplomová práce „Hotel Artia” je zpracována formou projektové dokumentace pro provádění stavby. Objekt hotelu je umístěn na parcele č. 443/1 v Červené Řečici. Budovu tvoří čtyřpodlažní hotelová část a jednopodlažní restaurační část. Konstrukční systém tvoří ŽB skelet. Objekt má jednoplášťovou plochou střechu a zateplení kontaktním zateplovacím systémem.The final thesis „Hotel Artia” is processed in the form design documentation for building construction. The building of hotel is located on plot no. 443/1 in Červená Řečice. The building has four-storey part of hotel and single-storey part of restaurant. Structural system is RC frame. The building has warm flat roof and contact thermal insulation.

SWM - Simple Window Manager

Tato práce se zabývá návrhem a implementací klasického (nedlaždicového) správce oken pro X Window System. Správce oken se stará o rozmístění a vzhled oken jednotlivých aplikací na obrazovce a je tedy klíčovou součástí jakéhokoliv moderního počítače s grafickým rozhraním. Ačkoliv již existuje mnoho správců oken, zejména pro X Window System, chybí zde jednoduchý nedlaždicový. Tato práce se snaží jeden takový vytvořit. Cílem bylo, aby splňoval freedesktop standardy ICCCM a EWMH a držel se UNIXové filozofie dělat jednu věc a dělat ji dobře. Důraz byl také kladen na jednoduchost, čitelný a testovatelný kód, a na to, aby byl správce oken snadno použitelný a rozšiřitelný.This thesis deals with the design and implementation of a stacking window manager for the X Window System. A window manager is the core component of any modern graphical desktop - it is responsible for the placement and appearance of application windows on the screen. While there is a plethora of window managers, especially on the X Window System, most of them are either heavyweight window managers that are part of a desktop environment or lightweight tiling managers. In this thesis, we try to fill the gap by developing a lightweight stackable window manager that complies with the freedesktop standards such as ICCCM and EWMH, and that follows the UNIX philosophy of doing one thing and doing it well. Intrusion detection and prevention systems at border devices

Bakalářská práce se zabývá testováním odolnosti sítě proti DDoS útokům. V teoretické části představuje problematiku těchto útoků a jejich současné trendy, následně se zaobírá systémy IDS a IPS a popisuje zařízení Spirent Avalanche 3100b, určené ke generování síťového provozu. V praktické části se zabývá konfigurací softwarového webového serveru Apache, běžícího na OS Linux Debian. Podrobuje tento server testům odolnosti proti pěti útokům DDoS. Těm je server vystaven před a po aplikaci systémů NIDS a NIPS, zastoupenými programy Snort a Suricata. Cílem práce je na základě naměřených výsledků jednotlivých testů porovnat systémy NIDS a NIPS.This bachelor thesis is focusing on testing the endurance of networks against DDoS attacks. The theoretical part consists of an introduction to the problematics of these attacks and current trends regarding DDoS attacks, focusing on IDS and IPS systems, and Spirent Avalanche 3100b machine, designed to generate network traffic. The practical part is about the configuration of the software web server Apache, which runs on Linux Debian OS, and it is testing this system for endurance against five DDoS attacks. The server is put through attacks before and after application of systems NIDS and NIPS, using Snort and Suricata software. The goal of the thesis is comparing NIDS and NIPS servers based on the results of testing.

Professional Ethics of Attorneys in the Czech Republic

Profesní etika advokátů v České republice se zaměřením na propagaci advokátů V této diplomové práci se autor věnuje profesní etice advokátů se zaměřením na možnosti jejich propagace. Tato oblast výkonu advokacie je totiž poněkud opomíjená i přes to, že advokáti, podobně jako jiní podnikatelé, jsou v rámci udržitelnosti své činnosti odkázáni na dostatečný počet klientů. V rámci jejich náboru, respektive nabízení svých služeb jsou však advokáti nuceni dodržovat specifická profesně-etická pravidla, která jejich možnosti oproti běžným podnikatelům poněkud omezují. Diplomová práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních částí. V první části se autor ve stručnosti věnuje etice obecně, s cílem představit čtenáři blíže tento filosofický pojem spolu s vybranými směry normativní etiky, které nabízejí východiska na otázku, co je správné. Zároveň se autor zamýšlí nad skutečností, zda jsou etická pravidla univerzální napříč společností a kulturami či nikoliv, a to s pomocí vybraných poznatků z psychologie. Druhá část je zaměřená na výklad profesní etiky, a to jak té obecné, tak i specifické oblasti profesní etiky advokátů. This area of legal practice is somewhat neglected, despite the fact that attorneys, like other entrepreneurs, depend on sufficient number of clients in order to sustain their business activities. However, in the context of acquiring clients or offering their services, attorneys are forced to observe specific professional and ethical rules that to a certain extent limit their options compared to an ordinary entrepreneurs. This thesis is divided into three major parts. In the first one, the author briefly discuss ethics in general and his aim is to introduce to a reader this filosophical concept together with selected directions of normative ethics offering solutions of what is right. The author concurrently reflects on the fact whether ethical rules exist universally across societies and cultures or not, using selected knowledge from psychology. Awareness, views and experiences of Citizen Science among Swedish researchers — two surveys

In 2021 Sweden’s first national portal for citizen science will be launched to help researchers practice sustainable and responsible citizen science with different societal stakeholders. This paper present findings from two surveys on attitudes and experiences of citizen science among researchers at Swedish universities. Both surveys provided input to the development of the national portal, for which researchers are a key stakeholder group. The first survey (n=636) was exclusively focused on citizen science and involved researchers and other personnel at Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SLU). 63% of respondents at SLU had heard about citizen science (CS) prior to the survey; however a majority of these (61%) had not been involved in any CS initiative themselves. Dominant reasons for researchers choosing a CS approach in projects were to enable collection of large amounts of data (68%), improving the knowledge base (59%), improving data quality (25%), promote participants’ understanding in research (21%) and promote collaboration between the university and society (20%). The other survey (n=3 699) was on the broader topic of communication and open science, including questions on CS, and was distributed to researchers from all Swedish universities. 61% of respondents had not been engaged in any research projects where volunteers were involved in the process. A minority of the researchers had participated in projects were volunteers had collected data (18%), been involved in internal or external communication (16%), contributed project ideas (14%) and/or formulated research questions (11%). Nearly four out of ten respondents (37%) had heard about CS prior to the survey. The researchers were more positive towards having parts of the research process open to citizen observation, rather than open to citizen influence/participation. Our results show that CS is a far from well-known concept among Swedish researchers. And while those who have heard about CS are generally positive towards it, researchers overall are hesitant to invite citizens to take part in the research process
