Updating the statistics reported for the EU-Spain purse seine fishing fleet in the Indian Ocean (period 1984-2019) and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the port sampling activity in Victoria (Seychelles)

This document provides an update on the statistics reported for the Spanish purse seine fleet fisheries in the Indian Ocean for the period 1984 to 2019. Data include catch and effort statistics, as well as some fishery indicators by species and fishing mode. Information about the coverage of the sampling, together with maps and diagrams illustrating the spatial-temporal fishing patterns of this fleet are also provided

Efecto de cuatro densidades de población sobre el crecimiento del fruto de berenjena (Solanum melongena L.)

The effect of four (12500 10000, 8333 and 4444 plants ha-1) plant population densities on eggplant fruit growth was evaluated. A randomized block design with four replicates was used. Data for number of flowers for inflorescences, length and diameter of the fruit, dry mass, fresh mass, color, relative growth rate of the fruit and yield were collected and analyzed. The results showed that 4444 ha-1 allowed more flowers for inflorescence; however, 12500 and 10000 plants ha-1 induced higher yields. Other variables were not influenced by the treatments.La presente investigación se llevó a cabo en el primer semestre del año 2005 en la Universidad de Córdoba (Montería) con el fin de evaluar el efecto de cuatro densidades de población sobre el crecimiento del fruto de berenjena (Solanum melongena L.). Se compararon las densidades de población de 12500, 10000, 8333 y 4444 plantas ha-1. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar con cuatro tratamientos y cuatro repeticiones. Las variables evaluadas fueron número de flores por inflorescencias, longitud y diámetro del fruto, masa seca, masa fresca, color, tasa relativa de crecimiento del fruto y rendimiento. De acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos, hubo mayor formación de flores por inflorescencia en la densidad correspondiente a 4444 plantas ha- 1, además se obtuvieron los mayores rendimientos con 12500 y 10000 plantas ha-1. Caso contrario ocurrió con las demás variables que no fueron influenciadas por las diferentes densidades poblacionales

Análisis de la estrategia de estomatología en la atención primaria de salud. Policlínico Raúl Sánchez 2002. An analysis of a strategy in dentistry service for Primary Health Care. "Raul Sanchez" outpatient clinic-2002

El Sistema Nacional de Salud Cubana cuenta con un Sistema de Atención Primaria de Salud (APS) muy desarrollado en el que el médico de la familia como exponente principal trabaja en estrecha relación con el estomatólogo. Para lograr estos propósitos cuenta con la estrategia de estomatología en la comunidad por lo que nos propusimos identificar el nivel de organización y funcionamiento de esta estrategia en la APS. Se aplicaron encuestas a Médicos de Familia, Estomatólogos y población correspondientes al área de salud Raúl Sánchez encaminados a valorar el conocimiento y aplicación de la estrategia estomatológica en la comunidad, obteniéndose entre los principales resultados que los Estomatólogos dominan la estrategia, aunque presentan dificultades con su aplicación y los Médicos de Familia presentan insuficiencias tanto en el conocimiento como en la aplicación, lo cual repercute en que la satisfacción de la población no alcance los propósitos de estomatología en la comunidad. Los resultados se expresan en tablas y se analizan a partir de métodos de la estadística descriptiva e interpretados por análisis porcentual. To achieve these purposes the family doctor counts on a strategy of dentistry assistance in the community. The objective of this paper was to identify the level of organization and function of the strategy for dentistry assistance in Primary Health Care. Surveys were applied to Family Doctors, Dentists and the population belonging to "Raul Sanchez" health area in order to assess knowledge and the application of the dentistry strategy in the community; observing among the main results that: dentists were able to apply the strategy, even though they had difficulties in its application but the Family Doctors presented difficulties regarding knowledge and application of the strategy which affected the level of satisfaction of the population with the dentist's services in the community. Does ICCAT need ecosystem plans? a pilot ecosystem plan for the Atlantic tropical ecoregion.

The implementation of an Ecosystem Approach Fisheries Management (EAFM) in ICCAT has been slow and patchy, as it lacks a long-term plan, vision and guidance on how to operationalize it. Ecosystem plans are needed to formalize the process of operationalizing the EAFM by identifying and formalizing ecosystem goals and objectives, planning actions based on priorities, measuring performance of the whole fishery system, addressing trade-offs, and incorporating them in fisheries management. The Specific Contract N0 2 under the Framework Contract - EASME/EMFF/2016/008 provisions of Scientific Advice for Fisheries Beyond EU Waters has developed a pilot ecosystem plan for the tropical ecoregion of the Atlantic Ocean. In this document, we highlight the main potential benefits of developing ecosystem plans in ICCAT. Second, we briefly describe the main core elements developed in the pilot ecosystem plan for the Tropical ecoregion of the Atlantic Ocean. Third, we summarize our main thoughts and lessons learned in the development of this pilot ecosystem plan for one ecoregion within ICCAT. Last, we propose a list of actions, research activities and capacity building activities to foster the development, use and implementation of ecosystem plans in ICCAT.Versión del edito

Áreas de investigación y planificación estratégica para el desarrollo de líneas de investigación: fundamentación conceptual

Thus, the first chapter discusses the conceptual framework of three cross-cutting research areas-Law, culture, and society; Sustainable human development; and Management and technology at the service of society-that articulate research lines from both social and human sciences, economics and administration, engineering, architecture and design, and basic sciences, whose main purpose is to foment and disseminate research, development, and innovation projects in thematic areas that are relevant to their disciplines. To the effect, the chapter presents a Statistical Analysis of Textual Data (SATD) of 33 protocols from these research lines. The second chapter illustrates the application of a strategic planning methodologywith a mixed design-for the planning, direction, organization, and monitoring of research.
