    The cultivation of red onion in peatlands have several problems that have low pH, highcation exchange capacity, low base saturation and low content of macro and micro nutrients. Efforts to solve the problem on peat soil should be giving rice straw Trichokompos and Potassium fertilizer as it can improve the physical, biological and chemical on peat soil. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of interaction between rice straw Trichocompost and Potassium, the influence of rice straw Trichocompost factors and the influence of Potassium factors, as well as getting the best combination on the growth and red onion production on peatlands. This research was conducted experimentally, using a randomized block design (RBD) factorial consisting of two factors and three replications, namely: rice straw Trichokompos factor (0, 250, 500, 750 g / plot) and Potassium factor (0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 g KCL / plot). Observational data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis and conducted a further test using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results of the study showed that giving rice straw Trichocompost and potassium fertilizers, indirectly affects growth and onion production. Provision of rice straw Trichocompost 250 g / plot (10 ton / ha) and potassium fertilizers KCl 5 g / plot (200 kg / ha) has the best ability to increase growth and onion production

    LEVEL BERPIKIR SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN MASALAH PROGRAM LINIER DITINJAU DARI EXTENDED LEVEL TRIAD ++ (STUDI PADA KELAS XI AKUNTANSI SMKN 1 CURUP TIMUR)

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui level kemampuan siswa dan mendiskripsikan level berpikir siswa kelas XI Akuntansi SMK Negeri 1 Curup Timur dalam menyelesaikan masalah program linier ditinjau dari Extended level triad ++. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksploratif, sedangkan pendekatan penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini diambil dari 64 siswa kelas XI Akuntansi SMK Negeri 1 Curup Timur Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013, yang dipilih 12 siswa sebagi subjek penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes tertulis, wawancara mendalam, dan think aloud. Analisis data terdiri dari: (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Level kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah program linier ditinjau dari extended level triad ++, diketahui : ada 8 % siswa pada Level Pra Intra (PraLevel 0), ada 14 % siswa pada Level Intra (Level 0), ada 28 % siswa pada Level Semi Inter (Level 1), ada 22 % siswa pada Level Inter (Level 2), ada 16 % siswa pada Level Semi Trans (Level 3), ada 12 % siswa pada Level Trans (Level 3) dan tidak ada siswa yang berada pada Level Extended Trans (Level 5). 2) Proses berpikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah program linier ditinjau dari extended level triad ++, didiskripsikan : (1) Subjek Level Pra Intra hanya mampu melakukan aksi-aksi dengan membaca soal dan menuliskan masalah saja, tidak sampai memahami masalah. (2) Subjek Level Intra dapat melakukan aksi-aksi, proses-proses secara terpisah tetapi tidak mengaitkan dengan informasi lain (skema awal), dapat memahami dan merencanakan sebagian pemecahan masalah yang diberikan. (3) Subjek Level Semi Inter dapat melakukan aksi-aksi, proses-proses dan sudah mulai mengaitkan dengan informasi lain, tetapi tidak menggunakan skema awal, dapat memahami masalah, merencanakan dan melaksanakan perencanaan awal dari pemecahan masalah, (4) Subjek Level Inter dapat mengkonstruksi aksi, proses, objek dan sifat yang terkait, namun belum menggunakan skema awal, dapat memahami, merencanakan pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan rencana pemecahan masalah walau baru sebagian. (5) Subjek Level Semi Trans dapat mengkonstruksi aksi, proses, objek dan skema, tetapi skema yang digunakan belum benar dan sudah menggunakan skema awal, dapat memahami, merencanakan, melaksanakan rencana pemecahan masalah walaupun belum benar. (6) Level Trans; Subjek dapat mengkonstruksi aksi, proses, objek dan skema, serta skema yang digunakan telah benar dan sudah menggunakan skema awal, tetapi belum terbentuk skema baru, dapat memahami, membuat rencana pemecahanm masalah, melaksanakan sesuai dengan rencana dan benar serta dapat memeriksa kembali hasil kerja dengan benar

    Mobile Learning Adoption among Tertiary Students

    The purpose of this study is to investigate the adoption of mobiles learning among higher institution students and the impact on their on their academic achievement.  Data was collect from students of four higher institutions around Melaka. A questionnaire survey was distribute to selected higher institutions in order to collect the data for the research. The study used convenience-sampling method to select the samples. Two hundred (200) respondents was participated in the study. Regression analysis were conduct to examine the effect of digital mobile learning device elements on the higher institution students' performance. The results of this study indicates that only perceived convenience has a significant positive relationship with student performance. However, there are no significant relationship between perceived information accuracy and perceives mobility and students’ academic achievement. The results also provide practitioners with guidelines for implementing digital mobile learning among tertiary students

    Human-Oriented Leadership and Organizational Commitment in US Subsidiary Company Based in Sarawak

    This article was conducted to examine the relationship between human-oriented leadership (HOL) and organizational commitment. A survey method was employed to obtain data from the employees of one US subsidiary companybased in Sarawak. Results of the Partial Least Squares (SmartPLS) model analysis confirmed that participative leadership, supportive leadership, and empowerment act as important antecedents of organizational commitment.These findings reveal that the capability of managers practicing HOL styles (supportive, participative, and empowerment) has enhanced employees' commitment to the organization

    Institutional quality thresholds and the finance – growth nexus

    Using an innovative threshold estimation technique, this study examines whether the growth effect of financial development in countries with distinct levels of institutional development differs. The results demonstrate that there is a threshold effect in the finance-growth relationship. Specifically, we found that the impact of finance on growth is positive and significant only after a certain threshold level of institutional development has been attained. Until then, the effect of finance on growth is nonexistent. This finding suggests that the financial development-growth nexus is contingent on the level of institutional quality, thus supporting the idea that better finance (i.e., financial markets embedded within a sound institutional framework) is potent in delivering long-run economic development

    Trust Level and Routing Selection for Mobile Agents in a Smart Home (Extended version)

    The central security concern for systems where agents roam is how to establish trust in the agent. We present a Fuzzy Logic mechanism to calculate a level of trust and an optimal route for a mobile agent system in a smart home. The mechanism consists of two parts. The first part calculates a trust level at the platform side to decide which actions should be allowed by a visiting mobile agent. The second part calculates an optimal route at the mobile agent side to decide an alternative destination in the case of rejection by a platform. Examples are provided from smart home scenarios, showing how flexible the proposed mechanism is

    Medium voltage range energy harvester application using boost converter

    Energy obtained from the surrounding is usually very low and scarce. Such energy can be found from the vibration, solar and heat to name few. Often this energy is less than 1.5 V. Based on this motivation, DC-DC boost converter circuit is choose and design to convert low energy to sufficient amount to be used in normal circuit device and system application. This paper introduces a medium range output voltage using conventional DC-DC boost converter for low input supply range. Simulation has been done and compared with the experiment results. The purpose of this paper is to show the possibility of conversion very low energy to up to 50 V and to discuss a brief operation involved. A linear 4 V to 49 V output voltage trend was obtained from the experiment, under low switching frequency, 2 kHz. The targeted input used in this paper is between 0.1 V to 1.5 V suitable for energy harvesting purpose

    Detection Technique of Squamous Epithelial Cells in Sputum Slide Images Using Image Processing Analysis

    A good quality sputum is important to detect diseases. The presence of squamous epithelial cells (SEC) in sputum slide images is important to determine the quality of sputum. The presence of overlapping SEC in sputum slide images causes the process become complicated and tedious. Therefore this paper discusses on technique of detection and summation for Squamous Epithelial Cell (SEC) in sputum slide image. We addressed the detection problem by combining K-means and color thresholding algorithm. The design of aided system is evaluated using 200 images and the proposed technique is capable to detect and count each SEC from overlapping SEC image. Total of 200 images were clustered to 10 groups, labelled as Group Cell 1 to group Cell 10 that correspond to the number of cells in the image. Therefore, each group will contain 20 images. The accuracy of the algorithm to detect SEC was also measured, and results show that in 91% which provides a correct SEC detection and summation
