    Foreign Migrants Trespassing in Sabah Forest Reserves: A Legal Discourse

    According to Sabah Forestry Enactment 1968, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah is given the power to reserves forests for various purposes including commercial, protection, domestic and others. Sabah Forestry Department is entrusted with proper and efficient planning, and implementation of State forest resources management (SFM) to comply with the sustainable forest principles. It achieves to manage forest resources towards sustainable and profitable forest governance. However, Sabah forest reserves were threatened by illegal trespassing by foreign migrants to possess forest produce unlawfully and to occupy State land illegally. This article aims to expose the causes of the invasion of forest reserves by foreign migrants, the offences committed by foreign migrant activities in the forest reserves, violation of specific legislation such as the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Forest Enactment 1968. The qualitative legal research methodology was used to understand the issues at hand, the existing applicable laws and the legal implications for such illegal activities in these forest reserves.  Secondary data found in the legislation, journals, annual report, and law publication were collected, reviewed, analysed, and discussed to understand its legal implications better.  Thus, efforts to expose these illegal activities by foreign migrants is essential to ensure Sabah Forest Reserves can continuously be maintained and not destroyed at the hand of illegal foreign trespassers. Employers should also be made responsible for their involvement in trafficked or smuggled illegal migrants as workers and simultaneously, conduct illegal activities to deceit the State Forestry efforts and developmental planning in Sabah

    Sabah is one of the states in Malaysia, which have gazetted forests reserves with a total area of 3.6 million hectares. The forestry sector through its timber revenue has acquired the annual tax collection amounted to millions of ringgit. This economic sector is one of the main contributors to Sabah state revenue. Sabah forest is rich in forest products as well as the flora and fauna are constantly maintained and monitored by the Forestry Department of Sabah from any trespassing activity. However, there are still attempts by foreign migrants to intrude the forest illegally to acquire forest products, especially in the forest reserves and violate the existing legislation. This paper aims to discuss the causes of the invasion of forest reserves by foreign migrants, the offenses committed by foreign migrant activities in the forest reserves, violation of specific legislation such as the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Forest Enactment 1968. Finally, to propose adequate measures to create awareness among various interested groups and local communities and to always be responsible for preserving and protecting the forests from illegal trespassing by the foreign migrants

    Potential-based community service (PMBP) is one of the important activities for the academic community as academic functional staff to develop knowledge, skills, and solve problems. This community service aims to provide education to the community about the importance of education, skills, and environmental stewardship. Individual potential-based community service activities (PMBP) of IKIP Budi Utomo Malang were carried out in Gunungsari Village, Pegergunung Hamlet and Claket Hamlet, Bumiaji Distriet, Batu City. This service activity is carried out from February 1 to March 31, 2022. This activity certainly has an impact on change for the village, where the results can be obtained, namely increasing learning development and being able to make products with their own hands that can be used as tablecloths. The result of this community service is an increase in knowledge, understanding, and awareness of education and the environment. However, this program cannot be carried out continuously due to time constraints in the implementation of PMBP. Therefore, we feel that this program is very good and needs to be followed up by the IKIP BUDI UTOMO MALANG campu

    Employer’s Right And Liability Towards Migrant Worker’s Occupational Safety And Health In Malaysia

    Malaysia is among the countries that use the services of many migrant workers in various work sectors. The rapid growth of the country that strived to be a developed country opens up many opportunities for migrant workers to come to work in Malaysia. The nature of the work performed by migrant workers usually involve high accidents risk work, in sectors such as construction, forestry, manufacturing and plantation. Their work involve heavy machinery, huge difficult to control instruments that may lead to accident risk. The cause of the accident may not only involve employees’ negligence but can also involve negligence on the part of employers. Unfortunately, when an accident occurred workers may be injured and died because of unexpected negligence and unsafe work systems. Therefore, when injuries or death occurred there are people who have to face legal action, incur criminal liability and are fined accordingly to the damage caused. This paper aims to discuss the employers’ rights and liabilities towards their migrant workers in terms of the occupational safety and health perspectives. These rights are provided in the legal provisions and the employers have responsibilities to ensure the safety and health system are managed and carried out effectively in workplaces. The discussion also focused on how employers’ leadership factors, can ensure safe work culture practiced at workplaces. Finally, remedial measures are suggested to provide rights and responsibilities to the employers to implement them in accordance with the existing legislation. The ultimate goal being to nurture a healthy and safe work culture among migrant workers and employers in Malaysia

    The number of Muslim communities who are still illiterate in reading the Qur'an is a problem for a long time. This problem is not only found in children but also targets adults. This is what happened to the people of Dagang Kerawan village. Therefore, a program to overcome Al-Qur'an illiteracy was carried out in the Dagang Kerawan village community. This article aims to describe the program to overcome illiteracy in the Koran at the adult level in Dagang Kerawan village using the Qiroati learning method. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research; describe the phenomena as they are in the research location. Collecting data using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis uses data reduction techniques, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the use of the Qiroati learning method in overcoming illiteracy of the Qur'an in adults in Dagang Kerawan village is going quite well. Planning is poured in the form of a KKN program plan. Every adult is required to be able to meet the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) of learning. This program can help adults in Dagang Kerawan village be able to recognize letters and be able to read the Qur'an well even though there are many obstacles

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap burnout yang dialami 51 orang responden daripada Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Negeri Johor (JBSJ). Tiga dimensi bagi mengenal pasti tahap burnout iaitu ketandusan emosi, depersonalisasi dan pencapaian peribadi telah diukur menggunakan soal selidik Maslach Burnout Inventori (MBI-1979). Data dikumpul dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif yang merangkumi peratusan dan min. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa responden mengalami tahap burnout yang sederhana dan tidak memberi kesan terhadap responden kajian. Kata kunci: burn out, ketandusan emosi, depersonalisasi dan pencapaian peribadi ABSTRACT This study aims to identify the level of burnout experienced by 51 respondents from the Johor Youth and Sports Department (JBSJ). Three dimensions for identifying burnout levels which are the emotional deprivation, depersonalization and personal achievement were measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-1979) questionnaire. The data were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis which included percentage and mean. The results showed that the respondents experienced moderate burnout levels and did not affect the respondents.Keywords: burnout, emotional depletion, depersonalization and personal achievemen

    Pemanfaatan tanaman Genjer (Limnocharis Flava) menjadi keripik yang bernilai jual.Tujuan program kreativitas mahasiswa-kewirausahaan (PKM-K) adalah membangkitkan motivasi mahasiswa untuk berwirausaha dalam mengelolah tanaman genjer (Limnocharis Flava) menjadi keripik yang bernilai jual.Metode pelaksanaan program ini adalah input, proses (produksi), output, dan evaluasi. Hasil program ini adalah input, melakukan survei pasar untuk mengetahui kondisi pasar. Selanjutnya Selanjutnya adalah studi kelayakan terhadap usaha yang akan dijalankan. Tahap terakhir adalah pemilihan bahan dan penyediaan tempat serta sarana dan prasarana untuk menunjang proses produksi. Proses (produksi), proses pembuatan keripik genjer mulai dari persiapan bahan dan alat sampai keripik genjer siap dipasarkan. Output, yaitu hasil keripik genjer yang siap digunakan dan dipasarkan kepada konsumen. Yang terakhir adalah evaluasi, yaitu tahapan ini dilaksanakan pada saat produksi produk keripik genjer  telah selesai dilakukan. Pada tahap ini akan meninjau tentang kekurangan-kekurangan apa saja yang membuat konsumen tidak menyukai produk kami. Kesimpulan program PKM-K pemanfaatan tanaman Genjer (Limnocharis Flava) menjadi keripik yang bernilai jual dapat memberikan keterampilan kepada mahasiswa untuk tetap inovatif dan kreatif dalam mengolah tanaman Genjer (Limnocharis Flava), memberikan kesempatan kepada mahasiswa untuk praktik wirausaha dengan pemahaman konsep wirausaha yang komprehensif, dan membangun semangat mahasiswa untuk tetap berbisnis
