Monte Carlo Calculations for Liquid He at Negative Pressure
A Quadratic Diffusion Monte Carlo method has been used to obtain the equation
of state of liquid He including the negative pressure region down to the
spinodal point. The atomic interaction used is a renewed version (HFD-B(HE)) of
the Aziz potential, which reproduces quite accurately the features of the
experimental equation of state. The spinodal pressure has been calculated and
the behavior of the sound velociy around the spinodal density has been
analyzed.Comment: 10 pages, RevTex 3.0, with 4 PostScript figures include
Quasi one dimensional He inside carbon nanotubes
We report results of diffusion Monte Carlo calculations for both He
absorbed in a narrow single walled carbon nanotube (R = 3.42 \AA) and strictly
one dimensional He. Inside the tube, the binding energy of liquid He is
approximately three times larger than on planar graphite. At low linear
densities, He in a nanotube is an experimental realization of a
one-dimensional quantum fluid. However, when the density increases the
structural and energetic properties of both systems differ. At high density, a
quasi-continuous liquid-solid phase transition is observed in both cases.Comment: 11 pages, 3ps figures, to appear in Phys. Rev. B (RC
Integrating RBF-based Neural Network Face Expression Recognition in Access System
Biometric recognition system such as facial recognition system was widely developed over the past few years. Facial recognition system is commonly used in security system to allow user to protect their privilege. The normal security like key or password is no longer relevant as people prefer an easier and flexible way. Therefore, this paper presents a better and easier way of security system that can recognize the user successfully and give the matching percentage. By using Radial Basis Function Neural Network in MATLAB, a face recognition system can be created. The RBF system will be trained by data as reference, input image will undergo the same process and the data obtained will be used to match with the data in the RBF to obtain the matching percentage. A suitable matching percentage reference was chosen from this analysis as the minimum require matching to access the security system where error rate is one of the main concerns where it is the unwanted result that might occur. Different threshold number, spread value, and sizes of dimension also tested, the differences on the output matching result were observed. By using the microcontroller to control a relay to control the magnetic door lock, the system was able to successfully control the door lock
Universality in the Three-Body Problem for 4He Atoms
The two-body scattering length a for 4He atoms is much larger than their
effective range r_s. As a consequence, low-energy few-body observables have
universal characteristics that are independent of the interaction potential.
Universality implies that, up to corrections suppressed by r_s/a, all
low-energy three-body observables are determined by a and a three-body
parameter \Lambda_*. We give simple expressions in terms of a and \Lambda_* for
the trimer binding energy equation, the atom-dimer scattering phase shifts, and
the rate for three-body recombination at threshold. We determine \Lambda_* for
several 4He potentials from the calculated binding energy of the excited state
of the trimer and use it to obtain the universality predictions for the other
low-energy observables. We also use the calculated values for one potential to
estimate the effective range corrections for the other potentials.Comment: 23 pages, revtex4, 6 ps figures, references added, universal

The helium trimer with soft-core potentials
The helium trimer is studied using two- and three-body soft-core potentials.
Realistic helium-helium potentials present an extremely strong short-range
repulsion and support a single, very shallow, bound state. The description of
systems with more than two helium atoms is difficult due to the very large
cancellation between kinetic and potential energy. We analyze the possibility
of describing the three helium system in the ultracold regime using a gaussian
representation of a widely used realistic potential, the LM2M2 interaction.
However, in order to describe correctly the trimer ground state a three-body
force has to be added to the gaussian interaction. With this potential model
the two bound states of the trimer and the low energy scattering helium-dimer
phase shifts obtained with the LM2M2 potential are well reproduced.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Few-Body System
High Performance Flower Shape Manganese Oxide for Asymmetric Supercapacitor Device
A flower shaped manganese oxide have been synthesized using simple and low temperature procedure. Subsequently, an asymmetric supercapacitor is fabricated using manganese oxide and activated carbon as positive and negative electrode in aqueous electrolyte. The supercapacitor was measured at open windows 2.0 V showing energy density of 25.79 Wh/kg at power density of 100 W/kg. The supercapacitor stability was tested at 3 A/g and showing specific capacitance retention of 95% after 850 cycle
The Debye-Waller Factor in solid 3He and 4He
The Debye-Waller factor and the mean-squared displacement from lattice sites
for solid 3He and 4He were calculated with Path Integral Monte Carlo at
temperatures between 5 K and 35 K, and densities between 38 nm^(-3) and 67
nm^(-3). It was found that the mean-squared displacement exhibits finite-size
scaling consistent with a crossover between the quantum and classical limits of
N^(-2/3) and N^(-1/3), respectively. The temperature dependence appears to be
T^3, different than expected from harmonic theory. An anisotropic k^4 term was
also observed in the Debye-Waller factor, indicating the presence of
non-Gaussian corrections to the density distribution around lattice sites. Our
results, extrapolated to the thermodynamic limit, agree well with recent values
from scattering experiments.Comment: 5 figure
Condensate fraction in liquid 4He at zero temperature
We present results of the one-body density matrix (OBDM) and the condensate
fraction n_0 of liquid 4He calculated at zero temperature by means of the Path
Integral Ground State Monte Carlo method. This technique allows to generate a
highly accurate approximation for the ground state wave function Psi_0 in a
totally model-independent way, that depends only on the Hamiltonian of the
system and on the symmetry properties of Psi_0. With this unbiased estimation
of the OBDM, we obtain precise results for the condensate fraction n_0 and the
kinetic energy K of the system. The dependence of n_0 with the pressure shows
an excellent agreement of our results with recent experimental measurements.
Above the melting pressure, overpressurized liquid 4He shows a small condensate
fraction that has dropped to 0.8% at the highest pressure of p = 87 bar.Comment: 12 pages. 4 figures. Accepted for publication on "Journal of Low

On the existence of supersolid helium-4 monolayer films
Extensive Monte Carlo simulations of helium-4 monolayer films adsorbed on
weak substrates have been carried out, aimed at ascertaining the possible
occurrence of a quasi-two-dimensional supersolid phase. Only crystalline films
not registered with underlying substrates are considered. Numerical results
yield strong evidence that helium-4 will not form a supersolid film on {any}
substrate strong enough to stabilize a crystalline layer. On weaker substrates,
continuous growth of a liquid film takes place
