    Study of polytropes with Generalized polytropic Equation of State

    The aim of this paper is to discuss the theory of Newtonian and relativistic polytropes with generalized polytropic equation of state. For this purpose, we formulated the general framework to discuss the physical properties of polytrops with anisotropic inner fluid distribution under conformally flat condition in the presence of charge. We investigate the stability of these polytrops in the vicinity of generalized polytropic equation through Tolman-mass. It is concluded that one of the derived models is physically acceptable.Comment: 21 pages, 3 figure

    Some comments on the divergence of perturbation series in Quantum Eletrodynamics

    Three Delay Model sebagai Salah Satu Determinan Kematian Ibu di Kabupaten Cilacap

    This study aims to determine the role of the three delay model of maternal mor-tality in the District of Cilacap by considering variable of the check status and the first rescue for childbirth as confounding factor. Research design used survey me-thods of analytic control case study approach. The samples consist at 30 cases and 30 controls. Data was analyzed in univariate, bivariate with chi square test and analysis stratified by Maentel Hanzel test. The results showed that the variables related to maternal mortality in the district of Cilacap namely first delay (p <0.001, OR = 16.43) and the second delay (p = 0.038, OR = 5.09). The variable of prenatal care status and childbirth first helper are not a confounding variable in assessing the relationship between the delay of the first with maternal mortality (Mantel Haens-zel p <0.05). In the second delay, the status of prenatal care and childbirth first helper is a confounding variable (Mantel Haenszel p ù‰„ 0.05)

    The Effect of Applying Community Language Learning Method on the Students\u27 Achievement in Speaking

    This study aims to find out the effect of applying community language learning method on the students\u27 achievement in speaking. The population of the study was the first year student at Man 2 Model Medan. In this study the sample is 50 students where 25 students took as experimental group and 25 students rest was control group. The data of this study was collected by oral test . It was applied in pre test and post test, then the scores were analyzes by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that t-observed value is higher than t-table value ( 3>2.00 ) at the level os significant 0.05 with the degree of freedom 48. It means that there was a effect of applying community language learning method on the students\u27 achievement in speaking

    Diabetes knowledge, beliefs and practices among people with diabetes attending a university hospital in Karachi, Pakistan

    A structured questionnaire on knowledge, beliefs and practices regarding diabetes was administered to 199 persons with diabetes (92.5% type 2) attending the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. Mean age [standard deviation (SD)] was 53 (11) years. Mean duration of diabetes (SD) was 8 (7) years in men and 9 (6) years in women. Men had a significantly better knowledge score than women (P = 0.02); there was no significant difference in the beliefs and practices scores. Scores were classed as good (\u3e 60%) in only 13.6% of participants for knowledge, 17.6% for beliefs and 11.2% for practices. About 38% of the participants had received education on diabetes care

    This paper attempts to investigate whether young graduates possess the leadership style that is pre-requisite to become entrepreneur. The paper further examines the role of higher education towards the desire of new venture creation among young graduates in developing economies specially. This study analyzed the response of 225 final-semester students at different universities in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore. A questionnaire based survey instrument was used. Result of the present study shows that education and new venture creation are positively and significantly correlated. The results further indicate that all variables used in this study are significantly correlated with intention to create a new venture. The limitation of this study is that it includes business and economics discipline students only. Further studies may investigate and examine the possibilities of similar outcomes among students of other disciplines including science, engineering, medicine, agriculture and law etc. The present study will, however, provide insight to future policy makers and planners to consider strategies for optimally utilizing the expertise and potentials of the young graduates. The academicians, educators, and university authorities have rethink what to teach? How to teach? In order to effectively prepare-young generation for the forthcoming challenges.entrepreneurship, leadership style, new venture creation, planned behavior, young graduates.

    Intelligent energy efficient localization using variable range beacons in industrial wireless sensor networks

    In many applications of industrial wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes need to determine their own geographic position coordinates so that the collected data can be ascribed to the location from where it was gathered. We propose a novel intelligent localization algorithm which uses variable range beacon signals generated by varying the transmission power of beacon nodes. The algorithm does not use any additional hardware resources for ranging and estimates position using only radio connectivity by passively listening to the beacon signals. The algorithm is distributed, so each sensor node determines its own position and communication overhead is avoided. As the beacon nodes do not always transmit at maximum power and no transmission power is used by unknown sensor nodes for localization, the proposed algorithm is energy efficient. It also provides control over localization granularity. Simulation results show that the algorithm provides good accuracy under varying radio conditions

    An analytical model of trilateration localization error

    Trilateration and multilateration are important location estimation techniques used in a diverse range of networks and applications. The system of equations yielded by multilateration can be reduced to simpler linear equations which can be solved to arrive at a closed form analytic solution. Exploiting this solution technique, we develop a novel and unique analytical model for the localization error resulting from trilateration. The analytical model can be used for the analysis of the localization error in all applications wherever multilateration is used for position estimation including internet of things, wireless sensor networks and global navigation satellite system thereby increasing reliability and quality of localization. As an example, we use the analytical model to corroborate the fact that localization error is a function of topology of reference positions in addition to distance estimation errors. The analytical model is verified using simulation experiments

    Prevalence and factors associated with anxiety and depression among family practitioners in Karachi, Pakistan

    Objective: We aimed to assess anxiety and depression and to identify the factors associated with these conditions among family practitioners in Karachi, Pakistan.Methods: A self-reported postal survey was conducted among 540 family practitioners in Karachi during the months of July - August 2003. Aga Khan University Anxiety and Depression Scale (AKUADS) was used to assess anxiety and depression. Additional questions were also inquired to get information about socio-demographic, professional and lifestyle characters.Results: Using AKUADS, 155 (39%) family practitioners had anxiety and depression. Mutlivariate analysis disclosed five factors to be significantly associated with anxiety and depression; these were female sex (AOR = 6.4, 95% CI 3.2-12.6); age group of \u3c 35 years (AOR = 23.3, 95% CI 9.0-60.3); lack of regular exercise (AOR = 4.9, 95% CI 2.4-10.2) and working for more than 48 hours per week (AOR = 12.7, 95% CI 6.2-26.2).CONCLUSION: This study reveals that prevalence of anxiety and depression among family practitioners in Karachi is high and higher than general population in Karachi. Further research and intervention studies are required to identify preventive measures in this regard and also to assess the impact of these interventions

    Mapping Various Cooking Oil using Fluorescence Polarization

    In this report we have succeeded to map various cooking oils using change of fluorescence polarization. Various cooking oils consisted of several vegetables oils and animal oils (chicken oil and lard) were used in the experiment, and some oils were measured in two different times. The change of polarization angle &tetha; was measured as the difference between linear polarized green pointer laser as incoming light and fluorescence light using a pair of polarizers. The direct measurement of fluorescence polarization gives a new unique result of critical polarizer’s angle φc that can group vegetable cooking oils into group 1 (at φc = 10o for VCO, olive, and soybean), group 2 (at φc = 20o for palm, corn and rice bran), group 3 (at φc = 30o for sunflower and canola), and also animals cooking oils into group 4 (at φc = 20o for chicken oil), and group 5 (at φc = 40o for lard). Mostly cooking oils can be distinguished using modified maps. The large difference φc and &tetha; of lard from vegetable oils provides an advantage to develop for testing halal oil due to lard contamination. The capability of this method has benefits, at least, as a complement and simple method in comparison to other expensive sophisticated instruments such as fluorescence spectroscopy or GCMS methods with their derivation’s instruments
