MatriVasha: A Multipurpose Comprehensive Database for Bangla Handwritten Compound Characters
At present, recognition of the Bangla handwriting compound character has been
an essential issue for many years. In recent years there have been
application-based researches in machine learning, and deep learning, which is
gained interest, and most notably is handwriting recognition because it has a
tremendous application such as Bangla OCR. MatrriVasha, the project which can
recognize Bangla, handwritten several compound characters. Currently, compound
character recognition is an important topic due to its variant application, and
helps to create old forms, and information digitization with reliability. But
unfortunately, there is a lack of a comprehensive dataset that can categorize
all types of Bangla compound characters. MatrriVasha is an attempt to align
compound character, and it's challenging because each person has a unique style
of writing shapes. After all, MatrriVasha has proposed a dataset that intends
to recognize Bangla 120(one hundred twenty) compound characters that consist of
2552(two thousand five hundred fifty-two) isolated handwritten characters
written unique writers which were collected from within Bangladesh. This
dataset faced problems in terms of the district, age, and gender-based written
related research because the samples were collected that includes a verity of
the district, age group, and the equal number of males, and females. As of now,
our proposed dataset is so far the most extensive dataset for Bangla compound
characters. It is intended to frame the acknowledgment technique for
handwritten Bangla compound character. In the future, this dataset will be made

Analysis of Internal Control System on E-Commerce
The evolution that one can see in e-commerce, with the internet playing the main role as the best way to implement information and communication channels, to make the electronic transactions more effective, linking extranets and extending intranets to a commercial partnership environment has produced impact on what regards internal control. According to the specific characteristics of the Internet, the path taken by a transaction is not easily predictable nor is it possible to assure the security of all systems that participate in an electronic commercial transaction performance. Taking in consideration what has been said above, it is impossible to guarantee a safe electronic commercial transaction environment, by using only technological components (firewalls, for instance). Prevalence of depression among subjects with and without gestational diabetes mellitus in Bangladesh: a hospital based study
Background
Data on association between depression and diabetes during the pregnancy period in Asia, specifically in Bangladesh are scarce. The study was designed to measure the prevalence of depression during pregnancy with or without Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM).
Methods
Seven hundred and forty eight pregnant women (382 with GDM, 366 without-GDM) attending at the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders, participated in the study. Blood glucose was measured following both WHO and ACOG criteria; GDM was diagnosed within 24–28 weeks. Depressive symptoms were assessed following MADRS scale. Semi-structured questionnaire was used to record their socio-demographic status and clinical and family history. Blood pressure, height, weight were also measured.
Results
Overall prevalence of depression was 18.32 %. Depression was higher in GDM subjects (25.92 %) compared to without-GDM subjects (10.38 %) with mean age of of 28.34 and 27.17 years respectively. Prevalence of depression was alarming in both the extreme of age. Dwelling place (P < 0.009) and past history of GDM (P < 0.018) had strong association with Depression. Higher prevalence of depression was found in Primipara whereas the risk of GDM increased with parity. Other obstetrical factors did not show any significant association with depression and GDM. Income (self and total family), physical exercise, sedentary lifestyle and workload had no significant statistical association with depression or GDM.
Conclusion
Higher rate of depression in pregnancy deserves medical attention especially women diagnosed with GDM. Further studies should estimate adverse pregnancy outcome for untreated depression especially in GDM cases
Vibrational Signatures in the THz Spectrum of 1,3-DNB: A First-Principles and Experimental Study
Understanding the fundamental processes of light-matter interaction is
important for detection of explosives and other energetic materials, which are
active in the infrared and terahertz (THz) region. We report a comprehensive
study on electronic and vibrational lattice properties of structurally similar
1,3-dinitrobenzene (1,3- DNB) crystals through first-principles electronic
structure calculations and THz spectroscopy measurements on polycrystalline
samples. Starting from reported x-ray crystal structures, we use
density-functional theory (DFT) with periodic boundary conditions to optimize
the structures and perform linear response calculations of the vibrational
properties at zero phonon momentum. The theoretically identified normal modes
agree qualitatively with those obtained experimentally in a frequency range up
to 2.5 THz and quantitatively at much higher frequencies. The latter
frequencies are set by intra-molecular forces. Our results suggest that van der
Waals dispersion forces need to be included to improve the agreement between
theory and experiment in the THz region, which is dominated by intermolecular
modes and sensitive to details in the DFT calculation. An improved comparison
is needed to assess and distinguish between intra- and intermolecular
vibrational modes characteristic of energetic materials.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
Granulomatous gastritis: a diagnostic dilemma?
Granulomatous inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract is an uncommon entity, an aetiopathogenic diagnosis can be reached only by combining the morphological examination with clinical and laboratory investigations. We report two cases of granulomatous gastritis: a 27-year-old woman presenting with weight loss and a 55-year-old woman presenting with epigastric pain and vomiting. Upper oesophagastroduodenoscopy in these cases showed antral hyperaemia and histopathology showed non-caseating gastric granulomatous inflammation. Both the cases were extensively worked-up for possible tuberculosis (TB) as the Patients lived in an endemic area, before starting steroids for the possibility of Crohn\u27s disease (CD). The first Patient improved but the second Patient had a flare of underlying undiagnosed TB. Granulomatous gastritis present a diagnostic challenge for treating physicians because of similar clinical, laboratory and endoscopical features between CD and intestinal TB
Electrolysed reduced water decreases reactive oxygen species-induced oxidative damage to skeletal muscle and improves performance in broiler chickens exposed to medium-term chronic heat stress
1. The present study was designed to achieve a reduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced oxidative damage to skeletal muscle and to improve the performance of broiler chickens exposed to chronic heat stress.
2. Chickens were given a control diet with normal drinking water, or diets supplemented with cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) or grape seed extract (GSE), or a control diet with electrolysed reduced water (ERW) for 19 d after hatch. Thereafter, chickens were exposed to a temperature of either 34°C continuously for a period of 5 d, or maintained at 24°C, on the same diets.
3. The control broilers exposed to 34°C showed decreased weight gain and feed consumption and slightly increased ROS production and malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations in skeletal muscle. The chickens exposed to 34°C and supplemented with ERW showed significantly improved growth performance and lower ROS production and MDA contents in tissues than control broilers exposed to 34°C. Following heat exposure, CNSL chickens performed better with respect to weight gain and feed consumption, but still showed elevated ROS production and skeletal muscle oxidative damage. GSE chickens did not exhibit improved performance or reduced skeletal muscle oxidative damage.
4. In conclusion, this study suggests that ERW could partially inhibit ROS-induced oxidative damage to skeletal muscle and improve growth performance in broiler chickens under medium-term chronic heat treatment
Nutritional value of some small indigenous fish species (SIS) of Bangladesh
Twenty three small indigenous fish species (SIS) in the size range of 3-18 cm were analyzed for proximate composition and minerals (Ca and P) content to evaluate their nutritive value. The moisture content of different species ranged between 71.00 and 81.94%. In general, small sized fishes showed higher moisture content. The muscle protein content among the species varied widely (16.16-22.28%). In general, the muscle protein content of fishes showed higher value than the whole carcass protein content. The carcass lipid content varied between 1.87 and 9.55% and showed an inverse relationship with the moisture content. The gross energy content ranged from 19.51-27.30 KJ/g on dry matter basis. In the present study, the calcium and phosphorus contents ranged between 0.85-3.20% and 1.01-3.29% respectively. The calcium and phosphorus ratio (Ca/P) varied between 0.44 and 2.00. Passive radiative "thermostat" enabled by phase-change photonic nanostructures
A thermostat senses the temperature of a physical system and switches heating
or cooling devices on or off, regulating the flow of heat to maintain the
system's temperature near a desired setpoint. Taking advantage of recent
advances in radiative heat transfer technologies, here we propose a passive
radiative "thermostat" based on phase-change photonic nanostructures for
thermal regulation at room temperature. By self-adjusting their visible to
mid-IR absorptivity and emissivity responses depending on the ambient
temperature, the proposed devices use the sky to passively cool or heat during
day-time using the phase-change transition temperature as the setpoint, while
at night-time temperature is maintained at or below ambient. We simulate the
performance of a passive nanophotonic thermostat design based on vanadium
dioxide thin films, showing daytime passive cooling (heating) with respect to
ambient in hot (cold) days, maintaining an equilibrium temperature
approximately locked within the phase transition region. Passive radiative
thermostats can potentially enable novel thermal management technologies, e.g.
to moderate diurnal temperature in regions with extreme annual thermal swings
