    A Web-Based Interface For A High Performance Computing System

    High performance computing systems (HPCS) target to execute software whether this software is a simple or complicated one. Most of HPCS should have an interface to enable software owners to upload their files to be installed by the HPCS administrator. The interface should be extensible to work together in the future with the other remaining parts of the complete system. Also it has to be divided into phases in order to make development easier and also to make those components reusable. It is the best option to make the software a platform independent one. To achieve that, J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) should be chosen to implement this interface and also free licensed and open source software have to be chosen such as Tomcat Jakarta server, MySQL to be used in the development phases. All of the previous recommendations are applied in this research prototype. On top of that, the interface prototype has been tested on local environment and has achieved the expected results. This report passes through all phases to have a proper web interface to be used for a HPCS

    Unifying and computerizing the procedures of municipal operations and maintenance is of great importance to municipalities as well as to ministries of local governments. On top of that, enhancing municipal e-services in terms of efficiency, quality, reusability, distribution and interoperability of these services; is a goal for most of municipalities.  Municipalities need to unify and computerize the procedures of maintenance and operations for their assets. This will eliminate the difficulties to prioritize the maintenance tasks; to let every task takes its turn fairly. In addition, this will speed up performing such maintenance and operation tasks, and will decrease the bugs appear after the maintenance is done. Therefore, the objective of this research work is to define, design and evaluate a conceptual framework for loosely coupled components to automate municipal services as well as unifying and computerizing maintenance and operations in local governments. The scope of this research covers roads and public buildings as the most important parts of municipal assets

    Evaluating the Effectiveness of Digital Inclusion at Private Educational Schools in Gaza Strip

    The research aims to evaluate the process of digital inclusion and the usage of digital tools in the educational process at private schools in Gaza Strip - Palestine. Education is the beacon of knowledge and development that is accompanied by developmental processes aimed at rising and improving the quality of service through the use of digital tools in all aspects of the educational and administrative processes within a school. In this study, the research team sought to know the tools used in the process of digital integration, and the challenges and problems faced by teachers while using digital tools, in addition to providing recommendations to help solve or mitigate problems. The descriptive analytical method is adopted to carry out the research. The results of the study showed weakness in the effectiveness of the digital inclusion process and the use of digital tools in the educational process in private schools. Furthermore, recommendations to the schools’ administrations, teachers and the Ministry of Education are stated in order to alleviate the problems and challenges of using digital tools

    Extending ETL framework using service oriented architecture

    Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) represent a big portion of a data warehouse project. Complexity of components extensibility is a main problem in the ETL area, because ETL components are tightly-coupled to each others in the current ETL framework.The missing extensibility feature causes impediments to add new components to the current ETL framework; to meet special business needs.This paper shows how to restructure the current ETL framework based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to be easier to extend.This restructuring solution distributes the ETL into interoperable components. The distribution of Extraction, Transformation and Loading components while keeping interoperability amongst them; can be achieved by SOA.A Classified-Fragmentation component to enhance the report generation speed is added to the new framework; as a proof of the extensibility concept.The result of this work is an extensible ETL framework including Classified-Fragmentation component as an extension

    Nonthermal plasma-assisted catalysis NH3 decomposition for COx-free H2 production : A review

    Hydrogen (H2) is recognized as a viable and environmentally friendly energy source, utilized across various domains, from large-scale chemical energy exports to small-scale power generation in remote areas. However, the storage and distribution costs of H2 present significant challenges. Ammonia (NH3) emerges as a carbon-free hydrogen carrier, backed by a robust international transport and storage infrastructure. On-site hydrogen production can be efficiently achieved through NH3 decomposition, predominantly via thermal catalysis. One innovative approach involves plasma technology, which utilizes NH3, alcohols, or hydrocarbons to produce pure hydrogen in plasma reactors. Nonthermal plasma (NTP) in particular, for NH3 decomposition and H2 production, has garnered considerable interest owing to its higher energy efficiency than thermal plasma systems. Furthermore, integrating NTP with catalysis, termed plasma-assisted catalysis, creates a synergistic effect, enhancing NH3 decomposition efficiency for H2 production through improved plasma-catalyst interactions. Consequently, NTP-catalysis holds the potential to revolutionize NH3 conversion and utilisation in the future. To date, there have been limited studies on NTP-assisted catalytic NH3 decomposition. This review article compiles the latest NTP-assisted catalytic NH3 decomposition methodologies for H2 production. It delves into the basics of plasma-assisted NH3 decomposition, including adsorption, desorption, and the synergistic processes during plasma catalysis. Additionally, it examines the impact of NTP on the chemical states and properties of various catalysts and provides a comprehensive analysis of the factors influencing NH3-plasma decomposition

    Assessment of knowledge, attitude and practice of diabetic people in Najran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

    Background: This cross-sectional hospital based study aimed at determining the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of diabetes among local people of Najran, Saudi Arabia.Methods: We aimed to investigate the levels of knowledge, attitude and practice among diabetic people in Najran area.Results: 10% of the participants scored >7, 28% scored >5 and 62% scored 5 and less in Knowledge questionnaire. None [0.00%] of the participants scored 7 or more out of the attitude questionnaire. 100% of the participants scored 5 and less out of 12. 100% of the participants scored >6 and 0% scored 12 or more in the practice questionnaire.Conclusions: Our study revealed that the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of diabetes in the area of Najran is very poor. We suggest that a structured educational program to be adopted by the health authorities in Saudi Arabia

    Virtual prototyping of a semi-active transfemoral prosthetic leg

    This article presents a virtual prototyping study of a semi-active lower limb prosthesis to improve the functionality of an amputee during prosthesis–environment interaction for level ground walking. Articulated ankle–foot prosthesis and a single-axis semi-active prosthetic knee with active and passive operating modes were considered. Data for level ground walking were collected using a photogrammetric method in order to develop a base-line simulation model and with the hip kinematics input to verify the proposed design. The simulated results show that the semi-active lower limb prosthesis is able to move efficiently in passive mode, and the activation time of the knee actuator can be reduced by approximately 50%. Therefore, this semi-active system has the potential to reduce the energy consumption of the actuators required during level ground walking and requires less compensation from the amputee due to lower deviation of the vertical excursion of body centre of mass

    Comparison of distributed technologies for defining a distributable and interoperable ETL framework

    Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) are major functionalities in data warehousing. Lack of component distribution and interoperability are the main problems in the ETL area, because ETL components are tightly-coupled in the traditional ETL framework. This paper explores and discusses five popular distributed technologies for the purpose of highlighting the best technology that is capable of overcoming the distribution and interoperability gaps of the traditional ETL framework. Based on the comparison of distributed technologies discussed in this paper, several benefits can be obtained when SOA is used in redefining the ETL framework such as: distribution, interoperability, reusability, portability, and compatibility with legacy systems. These advantages and other SOA specifications are discussed in this paper
