    Evidence of Υ(1S)J/ψ+χc1\Upsilon(1S) \to J/\psi+\chi_{c1} and search for double-charmonium production in Υ(1S)\Upsilon(1S) and Υ(2S)\Upsilon(2S) decays

    Using data samples of 102×106102\times10^6 Υ(1S)\Upsilon(1S) and 158×106158\times10^6 Υ(2S)\Upsilon(2S) events collected with the Belle detector, a first experimental search has been made for double-charmonium production in the exclusive decays Υ(1S,2S)J/ψ(ψ)+X\Upsilon(1S,2S)\rightarrow J/\psi(\psi')+X, where X=ηcX=\eta_c, χcJ(J= 0, 1, 2)\chi_{cJ} (J=~0,~1,~2), ηc(2S)\eta_c(2S), X(3940)X(3940), and X(4160)X(4160). No significant signal is observed in the spectra of the mass recoiling against the reconstructed J/ψJ/\psi or ψ\psi' except for the evidence of χc1\chi_{c1} production with a significance of 4.6σ4.6\sigma for Υ(1S)J/ψ+χc1\Upsilon(1S)\rightarrow J/\psi+\chi_{c1}. The measured branching fraction \BR(\Upsilon(1S)\rightarrow J/\psi+\chi_{c1}) is (3.90±1.21(stat.)±0.23(syst.))×106(3.90\pm1.21(\rm stat.)\pm0.23 (\rm syst.))\times10^{-6}. The 90%90\% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions of the other modes having a significance of less than 3σ3\sigma are determined. These results are consistent with theoretical calculations using the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, 1 table.     In order to check the system aspects of the forward-backward MSGC tracker designed for the future CMS experiment at LHC, 38 trapezoidal MSGC counters assembled in six multi-substrates detector modules were built and exposed to a muon beam at the CERN SPS.     Linkage and association analyses of glaucoma related traits in a large pedigree from a Dutch genetically isolated population

    Background: Despite extensive research on the genetic determinants of glaucoma, the genes identified to date explain only a small proportion of cases in the general population. Methods: Genome-wide linkage and association analyses of quantitative traits related to glaucoma were performed: intraocular pressure, size and morphology of the optic disc (individual and combined by method of principal components) and thickness of the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL), in a large pedigree from a genetically isolated Dutch population. Results: For the size of the optic disc, the study demonstrated a significant linkage signal (logarithm of odds (LOD)=3.6) at the LRP1B region on chromosome 2q21.2-q22.2 and significant association (p=8.953×10 -12) with the previously reported CDC7/TGFBR3 locus at 1p22.     Contains fulltext : 97937.pdf (publisher's version ) (Closed access)We conducted a two-stage genome-wide association study of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in 3,772 affected individuals (cases) and 8,505 controls of European background from 11 studies and followed up 6 SNPs in 3 replication studies of 2,198 cases and 4,918 controls. Two loci on the regions of 2p21 and 11q13.3 were associated with RCC susceptibility below genome-wide significance. Two correlated variants (r(2) = 0.99 in controls), rs11894252 (P = 1.8 x 10) and rs7579899 (P = 2.3 x 10), map to EPAS1 on 2p21, which encodes hypoxia-inducible-factor-2 alpha, a transcription factor previously implicated in RCC. The second locus, rs7105934, at 11q13.3, contains no characterized genes (P = 7.8 x 10(1)). In addition, we observed a promising association on 12q24.31 for rs4765623, which maps to SCARB1, the scavenger receptor class B, member 1 gene (P = 2.6 x 10).     International audienceWe present measurements of the branching fractions for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+K+Kπ+π0D^+\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0} and Ds+K+ππ+π0D_s^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}, and the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D+K+ππ+π0D^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}, based on 980 fb1{\rm fb}^{-1} of data recorded by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider. We measure these modes relative to the Cabibbo-favored modes D+Kπ+π+π0D^{+}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{0} and Ds+K+Kπ+π0D_s^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}. Our results for the ratios of branching fractions are B(D+K+Kπ+π0)/B(D+Kπ+π+π0)=(11.32±0.13±0.26)%B(D^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0})/B(D^{+}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}) = (11.32 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.26)\%, B(D+K+ππ+π0)/B(D+Kπ+π+π0)=(1.68±0.11±0.03)%B(D^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0})/B(D^{+}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}) = (1.68 \pm 0.11\pm 0.03)\%, and B(Ds+K+ππ+π0)/B(Ds+K+Kπ+π0)=(17.13±0.62±0.51)%B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0})/B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}) = (17.13 \pm 0.62 \pm 0.51)\%, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The second value corresponds to (5.83±0.42)×tan4θC(5.83\pm 0.42)\times\tan^4\theta_C, where θC\theta_C is the Cabibbo angle; this value is larger than other measured ratios of branching fractions for a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed charm decay to a Cabibbo-favored decay. Multiplying these results by world average values for B(D+Kπ+π+π0)B(D^{+}\to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}) and B(Ds+K+Kπ+π0)B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}) yields B(D+K+Kπ+π0)=(7.08±0.08±0.16±0.20)×103B(D^{+}\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0})= (7.08\pm 0.08\pm 0.16\pm 0.20)\times10^{-3}, B(D+K+ππ+π0)=(1.05±0.07±0.02±0.03)×103B(D^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0})= (1.05\pm 0.07\pm 0.02\pm 0.03)\times10^{-3}, and B(Ds+K+ππ+π0)=(9.44±0.34±0.28±0.32)×103B(D_s^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{0}) = (9.44\pm 0.34\pm 0.28\pm 0.32)\times10^{-3}, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the normalization mode. The first two results are consistent with, but more precise than, the current world averages. The last result is the first measurement of this branching fraction
