Byt i nicość w myśli Mistrza Eckharta. Początki niemieckiej filozofii woli
Artykuł poświęcony jest Mistrza Eckharta wykładni ontologicznych struktur rzeczywistości, w której to wykładni ważną rolę odgrywają pojęcia bytu, nicości, istnienia i Boskości. W artykule rozważone zostają kolejno: 1. Wykładnia bytu i nicości w prologu do łacińskiego Opus tripartitum; 2. Wykładnia istnienia i Boskości w dziełach niemieckich; 3. umiejscowienie tych rozważań w kontekście Eckhartiańskiej koncepcji abgescheidenheit. Podstawową tezą artykułu jest to, że w swojej refleksji ontologicznej Mistrz Eckhart zbliża się do myślenia o istocie rzeczywistości jako Woli, co jest wyraźną antycypacją ważnego nurtu niemieckiej filozofii
The Beginnings, the Development and the Current State of the Computer System in the Library of Łódź University
Dynamika systematycznego wzrostu, nowoczesna przestrzeń intelektu, labirynt znaków, magia zaangażowanych w swoją pracę ludzi z pasją – to tylko kilka haseł, które przychodzą na myśl, kiedy chcemy przywołać nazwę Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego i 70 lat jej historii. Łódź przed dwoma wiekami powstawała z tradycji niejednorodnych, i podobnie powstawał – jako mozaika różnych treści intelektualnych – Uniwersytet Łódzki. The article presents the history of the computer system in the Library of Łódź University.
The expansion of computerization has changed the face of the Library, which has to be up to the requirements of the twenty-first/XXI century users, also in the range of offered information services. The evolution of the library information system covered technical infrastructure, reorganizations and the extension of functionality of the system. This allowed a growing range of activities within the Library, the information system of The University of Łódź, and beyond the local structures by implementing interlibrary cooperation mechanisms
Off-axis vortex beam propagation through classical optical system in terms of Kummer confluent hypergeometric function
The analytical solution for the propagation of the laser beam with optical
vortex through the system of lenses is presented. The optical vortex is
introduced into the laser beam (described as Gaussian beam) by spiral phase
plate. The solution is general as it holds for the optical vortex of any
integer topological charge, the off-axis position of the spiral phase plate and
any number of lenses. Some intriguing conclusions are discussed. The higher
order vortices are unstable and split under small phase or amplitude
disturbance. Nevertheless, we have shown that off-axis higher order vortices
are stable during the propagation through the set of lenses described in
paraxial approximation, which is untypical behavior. The vortex trajectory
registered at image plane due to spiral phase plate shift behaves like a rigid
body. We have introduced a new factor which in our beam plays the same role as
Gouy phase in pure Gaussian beam.Comment: 28 pages, 8 figure

Lifespan differences between queens and workers are not explained by rates of molecular damage.
The biological processes that underlie senescence are of universal biological importance, yet they remain poorly understood. A popular theory proposes that senescence is the result of limited investment into mechanisms involved in the prevention and repair of molecular damage, leading to an accumulation of molecular damage with age. In ants, queen and worker lifespans differ by an order of magnitude, and this remarkable difference in lifespan has been shown to be associated with differences in the expression of genes involved in DNA and protein repair. Here we use the comet assay and Western Blotting for poly-ubiquitinated proteins to explore whether these differences in expression lead to differences in the accumulation of DNA damage (comet assay) or protein damage (protein ubiquitination) with age. Surprisingly, there was no difference between queens and workers in the rate of accumulation of DNA damage. We also found that levels of ubiquitinated proteins decreased with age, as previously reported in honeybees. This is in contrast to what has been found in model organisms such as worms and flies. Overall, these results reveal that the link between investment into macromolecular repair, age-related damage accumulation and lifespan is more complex than usually recognised
Method for Aspect-Based Sentiment Annotation Using Rhetorical Analysis
This paper fills a gap in aspect-based sentiment analysis and aims to present
a new method for preparing and analysing texts concerning opinion and
generating user-friendly descriptive reports in natural language. We present a
comprehensive set of techniques derived from Rhetorical Structure Theory and
sentiment analysis to extract aspects from textual opinions and then build an
abstractive summary of a set of opinions. Moreover, we propose aspect-aspect
graphs to evaluate the importance of aspects and to filter out unimportant ones
from the summary. Additionally, the paper presents a prototype solution of data
flow with interesting and valuable results. The proposed method's results
proved the high accuracy of aspect detection when applied to the gold standard
dataset
