    The in vitro culture of zygotic embryos solves the problems encountered in transporting and storing coconut seeds (Cocos nucifera L.). especially when obtained under field collecting conditions. Embryo sampling and short-term storage methods have been developed. Direct inoculation into culture on media, enabling embryo growth under axenic conditions. has been successfully carried out under field collecting conditions. An alternative method holds embryos in endosperm cores in a salt solution for brief periods before excision and inoculation into culture in a laboratory. The techniques and equipment used are described in this paper, as well as the subsequent development of the ernbryos and the transfer of plants to natural growing conditions

    Hubungan Kelimpahan Meiofauna pada Kerapatan Lamun yang Berbeda di Pulau Panjang, Jepara

    Lamun merupakan salah satu sumberdaya laut yang sangat potensial dan dapat dimanfaatkan. Organisme benthos seperti meiofauna menepati posisi yang sangat penting dalam proses biodegradasi di ekosistem pantai. Meiofauna bersifat relatif menetap pada dasar perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan meiofauna pada kerapatan lamun yang berbeda di Pantai Pulau Panjang, Jepara dan mengetahui hubungan antara kerapatan lamun yang berbeda dengan kelimpahan meiofauna. Metode pengambilan sampel dan pengamatan meiofauna adalah sampel diambil 7 titik dari setiap stasiun, pengambilan sampel meiofauna dengan menggunakan pralon 20 cm, sampel kemudian disaring dengan menggunakan saringan sampel 0,5 mm dan diberi formalin sebanyak 4% ,larutan rose bengale™ dan larutan ludox. Jenis lamun yang ditemukan di lokasi penelitian ini didapatkan 5 genera lamun yaitu Thalassia sp, Cymodocea sp, Enhalus sp, Syringodium sp dan Halodule sp. Jumlah spesies individu meiofauna pada stasiun A yaitu 34.666 individu/m3 dari 22 spesies, pada stasiun B yaitu 42.666 individu/m3 dari 22 spesies dan pada stasiun C yaitu 54.000 individu/m3 dari 22 spesies. Uji korelasi pearson didapatkan nilai sebesar 0,565 ( ≥ 0,05 ) dengan kesimpulan H0 diterima dan H1 ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara meiofauna dengan kerapatan lamun yang berbeda di Pulau Panjang Jepara. Nilai korelasi antara meiofauna dengan kerapatan lamun sebesar -0,632, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak adanya hubungan yang erat antara meiofauna dengan kerapatan lamun di Pulau Panjang, Jepara

    Several pyrimidothiazepine and pyrimidobenzothiazepine were synthesized starting from 6-chloro-1-methyluracil by the treatment with ethyl thioglycolate followed by the reaction with hydrazine hydrate which cyclized through refluxing with appropriate aromatic aldehydes or by the treatment with 2-aminothiophenol followed by refluxing with appropriate aromatic aldehydes respectively. The structure of newly synthesized compounds was confirmedby IR, 1H NMR, mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Further the novel derivatives were investigated for their binding and fragmentation of the nucleic acid DNA

    Reaction of thienopyrimidinoyl chloride 3 with  2-aminocyclohexanothiophene-3-carboxamide 4 yielded thienopyrimidine derivative 5 that undergoes cyclodehydration to afford thienopyrimidine 6. The synthesis of benzamidazole 8 and benzoxazole 10 derivatives was achieved by condensation of thienopyrimidinoyl chloride 3 and o-phenylenediamine / o-aminophenol followed by cyclization. Reaction of 4-thio-6-methyl-2-(p-methoxyphenyl)-5-acetylpyrimidine 1 and N(o-carboxyphenyl) chloroacetamide11 yielded pyrimidine derivative 12 that cyclized to benzoxazine 13. Compound 13 was transformed to quinazoline derivatives 14a-c and 16. Reaction of 13 with semicarbazide yielded triazoloquinazoline 18

    A new series of pyrimidopyrimidines are synthesized starting from 6-amino-1-benzyl[or1-(2-chlorobenzyl)]uracil via the formation of nonisolable acyclic Michael type adduct followed by nucleophilic addition and finally aromatization. The same starting material can be used for the preparation of some new pyrimidodipyrimidines by refluxing with different aldehydes in slightly basic medium. Finally different lumazines are synthesized via SN2 type reaction of diaminouracilhydrochloride with phenacyl bromides followed by intramolecular cyclodehydration then aromatization. The newly synthesized compounds showed binding, chelation and fragmentation of the nucleic acid DNA

    Des améliorations ont été apportées à la technique de culture in vitro des embryons zygotiques de cocotier. La suppression de l'haustorium sur des embryons ayant développé une gemmule de 2 à 4 cm a entraîné une meilleure survie des plants après leur passage sur sable. L'augmentation de la concentration en saccharose dans le milieu a permis d'accélérer le développement des embryons. Dans ce cas, le système radiculaire formé sans adjonction d'auxines rhizogènes a été satisfaisant. On a obtenu ainsi, en 5 mois, des plantules vigoureuses ayant un développement harmonieux après leur passage en conditions naturelle
