Ratag1) 1)Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat UNSRAT Manado, 95115 ABSTRACT Anemia is one of the problems that are serious enough micronutrients with the highest prevalence experienced by Indonesia. One group that malnutrition was a teenager. Teenagers are very prone to anemia than children and adult, because adolescents are in a period of growth and development so that more need of micronutrients and macro-nutrients (Gibney, 2009). Nutritional anemia is still one nutritional problem in Indonesia (besides three nutritional problems), namely: less calories as protein, vitamin A deficiency and endemic goiter). The study was observational analytic cross sectional study design also called cross-sectional study. The study population was all students of class VIII and IX SMP Negeri Manado totaling 5 287 students.The intake of iron in girls who were respondents in this study was 17.5 mg lowest and highest intake of 28.5 mg with an average value was 23.7 mg. Protein intake of female students who were respondents in this study was 26.9 g lowest and highest intake of 81.5 g with average grade is 59.7 g. Lowest student hemoglobin levels was 4.5 mg / mL, with the highest ever at 17.4 mg / mL and an average of 13.60 mg / mL. Keywords: iron intake, protein intake, anemia ABSTRAK Anemia merupakan salah satu masalah gizi mikro yang cukup serius dengan prevalensi tertinggi dialami oleh Indonesia. Salah satu golongan yang rawan gizi adalah remaja. Remaja sangat rawan terkena anemia dibandingkan anak-anak dan usia dewasa, karena remaja berada pada masa pertumbuhan dan perkembangan sehingga lebih banyak membutuhkan zat gizi mikro dan zat gizi makro (Gibney, 2009). Anemia gizi masih merupakan salah satu masalah gizi di Indonesia (disamping tiga masalah gizi) lainnya, yaitu: kurang kalori protein, defisiensi vitamin A dan gondok endemik). Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan desain penelitian cross sectional atau disebut juga studi potong lintang. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswi kelas VIII dan IX SMP Negeri 5 Manado yang berjumlah 287 siswi. Asupan zat besi pada siswi yang menjadi responden dalam penelitian ini paling rendah adalah 17,5 mg dan asupan tertinggi sebesar 28,5 mg dengan nilai rata-rata adalah 23,7 mg. Asupan protein pada siswi yang menjadi responden dalam penelitian ini paling rendah adalah 26,9 g dan asupan tertinggi sebesar 81,5 g dengan nilai rata-rata adalah 59,7 g. Kadar hemoglobin siswi terendah adalah 4,5 µg/mL, dengan angka tertinggi yaitu sebesar 17,4 µg/mL dan rata-rata 13,60 µg/mL

    Floquet Spectrum and Transport Through an Irradiated Graphene Ribbon

    Graphene subject to a spatially uniform, circularly-polarized electric field supports a Floquet spectrum with properties akin to those of a topological insulator, including non-vanishing Chern numbers associated with bulk bands and current-carrying edge states. Transport properties of this system however are complicated by the non-equilibrium occupations of the Floquet states. We address this by considering transport in a two-terminal ribbon geometry for which the leads have well-defined chemical potentials, with an irradiated central scattering region. We demonstrate the presence of edge states, which for infinite mass boundary conditions may be associated with only one of the two valleys. At low frequencies, the bulk DC conductivity near zero energy is shown to be dominated by a series of states with very narrow anticrossings, leading to super-diffusive behavior. For very long ribbons, a ballistic regime emerges in which edge state transport dominates.Comment: 4.2 pages, 3 figure

    Marketing and Utilization of Prosopis Africana Condiment in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria

    The study assessed and evaluated the marketing and utilization of Prosopis Africana condiment in Makurdi metropolis. Four major markets where prosopis condiment is sold in Makurdi were randomly selected for this study. The markets are wurukum market, north bank market, modern market and high level market. Structured questionnaires, oral interviews and field assessment were used to generate primary data. The data generated were analysed using descriptive statistics. Approximately 6.3%, 8.8%, 78.8% and 6.3% of the marketers of prosopis condiment in Makurdi metropolis fall within the age brackets of 15-25, 26-35, 36-45 and 46-55 years respectively. It was also observed that all the marketers of prosopis condiment in Makurdi are females. Seventy-two percent (72%) of the marketers of prosopis condiment in Makurdi obtain their supply from within the state while 28% get their supply from other states. Production of prosopis condiment in Makurdi is usually done locally with most of the marketers going to the bush by themselves to gather the seeds before processing them. Inadequate storage facilities, poor processing techniques and high cost of transportation are some of the problems encountered in the production and marketing of prosopis condiment in Makurdi metropolis.Keywords: Prosopis, condiment, production, marketin

    Magnetic Properties of Gadolinium-Doped ZnO Films and Nanostructures

    The magnetic properties of Gd-doped ZnO films and nanostructures are important to the development of next-generation spintronic devices. Here, we elucidate the significant role played by Gd-oxygen-deficiency defects in mediating/inducing ferromagnetic coupling in in situ Gd-doped ZnO thin films deposited at low oxygen pressure by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Samples deposited at higher oxygen pressures exhibited diamagnetic responses. Vacuum annealing was used on these diamagnetic samples (grown at a relatively high oxygen pressures) to create oxygen-deficiency defects with the aim of demonstrating reproducibility of room-temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM). Samples annealed at oxygen environment exhibited superparamagnetism and blocking-temperature effects. The samples possessed secondary phases; Gd segregation led to superparamagnetism. Theoretical studies showed a shift of the 4f level of Gd to the conduction band minimum (CBM) in Gd-doped ZnO nanowires, which led to an overlap with the Fermi level, resulting in strong exchange coupling and consequently RTFM

    Oscillating Superfluidity of Bosons in Optical Lattices

    We follow up on a recent suggestion by C. Orzel et. al., Science, 291, 2386 (2001), whereby bosons in an optical lattice would be subjected to a sudden parameter change from the Mott to the superfluid phase. We analyze the Bose Hubbard model with a modified coherent states path integral which can escribe - both - phases. The saddle point theory yields collective oscillations of the uniform superfluid order parameter. These would be seen in time resolved interference patterns made by the released gas. We calculate the collective oscillation's damping rate by phason pair emission. In two dimensions the overdamped region largely overlaps with the quantum critical region.     Pengaruh penambahan daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) terhadap penurunan berat telur dan sifat sensoris telur ayam ras asin

    Daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) merupakan tanaman herbal yang mengandung minyak atsiri, flavonoid, tannin yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan, antibakteri, serta sebagai pengawet alami dan memberikan cita rasa yang khas. Penambahan daun kemangi dalam pembuatan telur asin ayam ras diharapkan dapat memberikan inovasi pengolahan telur asin dan sebagai bahan informasi masyarakat dan industri pangan tentang pengaruh pemanfaatan daun kemangi dalam proses pengasinan telur serta menambah nilai ekonomis telur.  Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan 4 ulangan. Variabel yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah berat telur, dan sifat sensoris (warna, aroma, rasa). Data dianalisis dengan uji beda nyata terkecil (BNT). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap warna dan cita rasa telur asin, berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) terhadap berat telur.  Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa penambahan daun kemangi (Ocimum basillicum L.) sampai 40% memberikan hasil yang baik terhadap aroma, warna, rasa telur asin ayam ras dan penurunan berat telur sampai 80% dengan bertambahnya daun kemangi.     Effective Spin Quantum Phases in Systems of Trapped Ions

    A system of trapped ions under the action of off--resonant standing--waves can be used to simulate a variety of quantum spin models. In this work, we describe theoretically quantum phases that can be observed in the simplest realization of this idea: quantum Ising and XY models. Our numerical calculations with the Density Matrix Renormalization Group method show that experiments with ion traps should allow one to access general properties of quantum critical systems. On the other hand, ion trap quantum spin models show a few novel features due to the peculiarities of induced effective spin--spin interactions which lead to interesting effects like long--range quantum correlations and the coexistence of different spin phases.Comment: 11 pages, 13 figure
