    This study explores impact of interactive marketing impact on consumer satisfaction and loyalty. So for no specific research has been conducted to identify the process of customer loyalty in banking sector in this perspective. Customer loyalty has great importance and agonizes among connoisseur, academician and professionals in ample industries. This study generally focused on following dimensions commitment, trust, familiarity, quality of employees, service quality and service personalization efforts as key predictor of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Data was collected by using pretested questionnaire through personal interviews. A representative sample of one hundred and sixty consumers was selected by using convenience sampling technique. Interactive marketing has positive significant influence on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. The customer satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between interactive marketing and customer loyalty.&nbsp

    The objective of this study is to examine the effect of merger announcements on the share prices of acquiring firms listed at The Karachi Stock Exchange. A sample of 13 merger announcements during year 2000 to 2012 is taken. Two types of merger announcements have been bracketed; one is proposed merger and the other is executed merger. In order to examine the effect of merger announcements on share prices, event study methodology is used. Market model is used to calculate abnormal returns. Moreover t-test is applied to test the significance of abnormal returns. On the basis of result, it is concluded that both types of merger announcement affect the share prices of acquiring firm. However, market reaction to these announcements is not immediate

    Impact of Capital Structure on Firms’ Financial Performance: Evidence from Pakistan

    This research examines the impact of capital structure on firms’ financial performance in Pakistan of top 100 consecutive companies in Karachi Stock Exchange for a period of four years from 2006 to 2009. Exponential generalized least square regression is used to test the relationship between capital structure and firms’ financial performance. The results show that all the three variables of capital structure, Current Liabilities to Total Asset, Long Term Liabilities to Total Asset, Total Liabilities to Total Assets, negatively impacts the Earning before Interest and Taxes, Return on Assets, Earning per Share and Net Profit Margin whereas Price Earning ratio shows negative relationship with Current Liabilities to Total Asset and positive relationship is found with Long Term Liabilities to Total Asset where the relationship is insignificant with , Total Liabilities to Total Assets. The results also indicate that Return on Equity has an insignificant impact on Current Liabilities to Total Asset and Total Liabilities to Total Assets but a positive relationship exists with Long Term Liabilities to Total Asset. These results, in general, lead to the conclusion that capital structure choice is an important determinant of financial performance of firms. This is the first study in Pakistan examining the relationship between firms’ performance and capital structure of top 100 consecutive companies in Karachi Stock Exchange for a period of four years.     Perceived Barriers Towards Adoption Of Internet Banking Among Non-Metropolitan Internet Users Of Pakistan

    Internet banking is a vital component of E-banking flourished rapidly in developed countries unlike developing countries. This paper provides recommendations for the banks offering internet services after examining the barriers in adoption of internet banking perceived by the active internet users living in non-metropolitan areas of Pakistan. Various, significantly perceived barriers identified by previous studies are presented after an extensive literature review in order to form a basis for developing questionnaire and comparing the findings. Data were collected from 520 customers of the banks offering internet services. The respondent’s selection criteria was being active internet user and living in non-metropolitan area of Pakistan. Findings show that the loss of personal service and one to one relationship with bankers, low perceived value of internet banking as compared to traditional banking and lack of knowledge, information are perceived to be the most significant barriers in adoption of internet banking among respondents. Unlike other studies lack of security, risk of hacking, fear of incomplete transactions and high financial risks are perceived to be moderately significant barriers. The study recommends that the banks should identify the information needs of the customers and establish the effective information channels to communicate the benefits and uses of internet banking services and develop long term relationship

    An investigation into morphological and physiological approaches to screen maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids for drought tolerance

    A pot experiment was carried out in completely randomized design (CRD) having three replications to screen out six maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids viz; FH-810, 32-F-10, FH-782, 32-B-33, YH-1898, Monsanto-6525, R-2315 and R-3304 for drought tolerance. The study was carried out with objective to screen hybrids, when exposed to drought on the early phase of their vegetative growth. The moisture treatments comprised of 100% field capacity (FC), 75% FC and 50% FC. The results exhibited that all these hybrids varied substantially in their stability against drought tolerance. However, the results pertaining to interaction of maize hybrids with three moisture levels of 100% FC, 75% FC and 50% FC revealed that 32-F-10 performed comparatively better in contrast to other maize hybrids in plant height (79.74 cm, 47.02 cm and 41.65 cm), leaf area per plant (865.10 cm2, 405.7 cm2 and 178.60 cm2), relative water contents (81.23%, 69.79% and 65.98%), at 100%, 75% and 50% FC, respectively, while YH-1898 hybrid produced lowest values of these attributes in almost all water levels. However, a better stomatal conductance (gs), photosynthetic rate (A) and transpiration rate (E) were exhibited by 32-F-10 while YH-1898 revealed least gas-exchange values among all hybrids. The experimental results revealed that under drought conditions 32-F-10 performed best than all other maize hybrids and could be used for further investigation to screen out other drought tolerant-maize hybrids for maximum production

    Defect engineering for improved photocatalytic performance of reduced lead titanate (PbTiO3) under solar light irradiation

    Lead titanate (PbTiO3) nanoparticles were prepared successfully by template free hydrothermal  method. Size, crystallinity, morphology and phase determination of the nanoparticles were made by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). FESEM results had shown that all nanoparticles were in the range between 20 to 40 nm size and found in the form of agglomerates. The average crystallite size of PbTiO3 nanoparticles was calculated to be nearly 35 nm. PbTiO3 nanoparticles were reduced by hydrogenation at high temperature to make the material active for visible light. Furthermore, optical absorbance of PbTiO3 nanoparticles was determined by applying ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-Vis-NIR) spectroscopy. By using Davis-Mott model, the direct optical band gap of 2.65 eV was acquired. Methyl orange (MO) was used as pollutant to check the photocatalytic activity of reduced PbTiO3 nanoparticles under solar light irradiation. Photocatalytic activity of reduced PbTiO3 nanoparticles increased 2.6 times more than that of pure PbTiO3 nanoparticles for methyl orange (MO) under solar light irradiation.               KEY WORDS: Lead titanate (PbTiO3), Photocatalytic performance, Hydrothermal growth, Solar light, Irradiation Bull.     Machine Vision Approach for Identification of Four Variant Pakistani Rice Using Multi-Features Dataset

    Crops are the most important and beneficial food source in Pakistan. The demand for food has been an increase in Pakistan due to population growth. Pakistan produced 7,410 million tons of rice according to the financial year survey 2020 (FYS-2020). Pakistani rice has been cultivated in 3,304 hectares of the agricultural land zone, and it is also export around the world. Rice is also increased by 0.6% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Pakistan (FYS-2020). The old and manual process of rice classification is more expensive and time-consuming. In this study, we describe a machine vision approach for rice identification. We use four different varieties of rice for the experimental process such as Pakei_Kaynat, Kaynat_Kauchei, and Kauchei_Super_Banaspati and Tootaa_Kauchei (P1, P2, P3, and P4). The 100 images dataset have been used for practical work and total calculated of 400 (4 x 100) image of rice. The different process has been deploying on available datasets such as introduction, preprocessing methodology, and result discussion. A quality enhancement technique has been implementing for clarifying between rice color and shape sampling, and it is also converted color image in gray scale level. Every image has been employing six different non-overlapping regions of interest (ROI’s) and calculated a total of 2400 (6 x 400) ROI’s. Binary (B), Histogram (H) and Texture (T) features have been implemented and extract 43 features on each ROI’s and total calculated 103,200 (2400 x 43) machine learning (ML) features. Best First Search (BFS) Algorithm was used for feature optimization. Different ML classifiers are implementing for experimental process namely; Function Multi-Layer-Perception, Function SMO, Random Tree, J48 Tree, Meta Classifier via Regression and Meta Bagging. The Function Multi-Layer-Perception overall accuracy (OA) has describe better accuracy result is 99.8333%

    PSYCHOSOCIAL ILLNESS IN CHILDREN WITH THALASSEMIA: A CASE-CONTROL STUDY

    INTRODUCTION: Thalassemia is the most common hemolytic autosomal recessive disorder. Pakistan has significant number of thalassemic children .The children with chronic disorders like thalassemia are prone to develop psychosocial illness including depression, anxiety, intellectual and behavioral issues.  OBJECTIVE: To assess the psychosocial illness in children with thalassemia and to compare these problems in children with and without Thalassemia   PLACE & DURATION: The Children’s Hospital and the institute of child health, Multan. From January to September 2021.  STUDY DESIGN: Case-control  MATERIAL AND METHOD:   In this study 50 children with Thalassemia and 50 normal children were enrolled as case & control according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. After approval from institutional ethical committee, detailed history ,Socioeconomic status, educational status of parent and child, age of diagnosis of disease, and whether thalassemia is well controlled or not and complications were noted. A Pediatric Symptom Checklist was used for psychosocial problems in all children. Data was analyzed by using SPSS version 22. Mean and standard deviation for quantitative data, while frequencies and percent for qualitative data was calculated. P-value was calculated by Chi square test. Prevalence ratio (ODDS ratio) with 95%confidence interval of all variables were calculated.  RESULTS: Out of 100 patients 50 were in case group (Thalassemia) and 50 control (non-thalassemic.Male female ratio was 1.2:1. 60 %( n=30) cases, 78 %( n=39) control patients were age ranges between 5 to 10 years. Educational level of parents of 40%(n=20),and 56%(n=28) was below matric,42%(n=21) and 90%(n=45) patients were going to school in case and control group respectively.82%(n=41) patients belonged to low socioeconomical status in each group. Regarding characteristics of thalassemia 74 %( n=37) patients were diagnosed within 1st year of life, while 26 %( n=13) after 1st year.64 %( n=32) had well controlled and 36 %( n=18) poor controlled disease. 20%(n=10) had developed Diabetes mellitus,2%(n=1) heart failure,74%(37) growth failure,76%(n=38) hemolytic facial features and 72%(n=36)skin discoloration. Psychosocial problems were statistically significant in children with Thalassemia as compared to healthy ones (p-value<0.001).Poorly controlled thalassemia and complications of heart and growth failure were found statistically significant risk factors.  CONCLUSION: Psychosocial problems are common in children with thalassemia as compared to healthy ones. So these patients must be referred for detailed psychological evaluation and management along with medical treatment.

    Antioxidant, haemolytic activities and GC-MS profiling of Carissa carandas roots

    The antioxidant potential of the plant Carissa carandas roots extracted with different polarity based solvents was assessed. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by the measurement of total phenolic contents (TPC), total flavonoid contents (TFC), reducing power, DPPH radical scavenging, IC50 and antioxidant activity in linoleic acid system. The plant material contained the TPC (1.79-4.35 GAE mg/g of dry extract), TFC (1.91-3.76 CE mg/g of dry extract), DPPH radical scavenging activity, IC50 (12.53-84.82 %) and % inhibition of peroxidation in linoleic acid (41.0-89.21 %) system respectively. Furthermore the antioxidant effectiveness of extracts was assessed using corn oil (CO) as the oxidation substrate. The oxidative alterations were evaluated by the measurement of conjugated diene (CD), conjugated triene (CT), p-anisidine, free fatty acid (FFA) and peroxide values (PV). The cytotoxicity of  the plant extracts were assessed against human red blood cells (RBCs) and the % lysis was found to be in the range of 1.01-6.10 %. The GC-MS analysis of n-hexane extract was also profiled.  It was concluded that extracts of plant roots may be used as potential source of antioxidant agents in food industries
