    Building a National Commitment Against Hoax Threats for Indonesian Sovereignty

    This research initiated to offer a strong commitment to defend the sovereignty of Indonesia. The purpose of this research to advise and create awareness of each people to commit and must be wise in receiving and disseminating information, especially hoax.  This research used the literature study method by analyzing the impact that has been caused by hoaxes. In collected the data, the author’s team searched, listed, and displayed the main data and the supported data as the most fake news in social media. The author classified the data into two, are the main data was accessed from the Minister of Communication and Informatics news, even was completed by the supported data that were listed from the news posted on declared hoaxes as a common enemy that destroys the order of life in Indonesia.  The data have been collected by the case studies were easily influencing people’s opinions and even could be potentially disrupt the national security of our nation. The result of the research in order to produce an important reference that educate the public to deal with hoaxes. This research initiated to offer a wise solution for face hoax through collected the data have been listed by literature study and analyzed the impacts for our society in Indonesia. In digital literacy, people need to know the characteristics of hoaxes so as not to get caught up with fake news, or slander that is circulating. This fake news will certainly harm many parties, including you. For that, be wise in reading, analyzing, and trusting information, before you disseminate it

    There are lots of folklores in the Balinese society, called as satua Bali. These stories spreadfrom generation to generation and mouth to mouth, and most of them unknown for theirwriter or author. The language use is Balinese language or ancient Javanese language. Generally, these Balinese stories still survive, i.e. the story of Pan and I Belog. These storiesconcern on time and plot. The story retells by the first person and third person in a particulartime in order to increase the knowledge of hearer and readers. These narrative texts orientedon the characters as the result findings in the research and supported within societyperception. Data were taken from those two stories that existed in society. These dataanalyzed by note-taking from interviewing respondents and distributional method through questionnaires. Based on the result, three components of speech act found in the stories asof: locutionary act, illocutionary act, and perlocutionary act. Meanwhile, there were five types of function of speech act found in those stories, such as: expressive, directive, commissive, representative, and declarative. However, one form of the speech in one of the story can function in various ways. In the sosiopragmatics analysis eight aspects ofSPEAKING can also be found in both stories, except in the story of I Belog with minimumuse of instrument. In addition, most respondents at Silangjana could still recognize thosestories. The power of plot and characters, including the language used gave effect to thestory. Moral values can be learnt from both stories, as of: individual as members of the society should not attempt to cheat or deceive others, and be friendly to others with no discrimination to status or races. In addition, brilliant brain should be used to help others

    The Psychoanalysis of the Main Character in Handling Conflicts in Chernobyl TV Series

    This study is aimed to describe the psychological aspects of the main character in handling the conflict the main character experienced in the story. The data for this study were taken from a TV Series entitled Chernobyl and collected by using observation technique and note taking technique. The collected data then analyzed by using qualitative method. There are two theories applied in this study. The first theory is the theory proposed by Kenney (1966) about conflict that divided into internal conflict and external conflict. The second theory is the theory proposed by Freud (1923) about psychoanalysis that divide human’s psychological aspect into three; id, ego, and superego. The result of the analysis showed that the main character mainly encountered external conflicts because he had many different opinions with other characters. Afterward, the id, ego, and superego are used in handling the conflicts he experienced

    Ngusaba is a ceremony held to praise Dewi Sri or the goddess of prosperity. Ngusaba Dodol is one of the types of ceremony in Bali conducted by the community at Selat district, Karangasem regency. This ceremony is held every year at the end of sasih Kesanga, pengelong or the day after the dark moon or tilem nemu kajeng based on Balinese calendar. Ngusaba is conducted at Pura dalem which is located in a local village. It is an arguable, distinctive and unique ceremony because the person brings offerings of dodol. Dodol is a typical snack made by glutinous rice flour, mixed with brown sugar and coconut milk. The dodol made in this ceremony unlike ordinary dodol. It has larger size compared to the ordinary dodol. Each offerings brought by the people to the temple, consists of: three large dodol, three large slices of jaje uli (Balinese black cake), three kilogram of rice, three tanding of satay, three tandingof pelas and rasmen, three bunches of bananas, three pieces of crackers, fruits, etc. Besides, the offering is decorated with the flowers in such way to make it beautiful and look like onggar-onggaran, however, every village has difference way to fill in the banten sokan (offerings placed in a traditional box) that will be offerred to the god

    Black Panther: A Characterization Study of Erik Killmonger’s Machiavellianism

    The study discusses and analyzes the characterization of a secondary character in the movie Black Panther, Erik Killmonger whose status as a villain described as a Machiavellian; a person known to be gruesome and unreliable to acquire everything he desires by any means necessary. The study functions as a source of knowledge for everyone who wishes to comprehend the deeper issue of a secondary character existence in a movie who does not get enough recognition, unlike the main character. This study used collecting and observing methods to acquire the data, Black Panther movie along with the movie script. A Qualitative research method is used to answer the problems of the study. It examined Killmonger’s characterization by using three theories; tridimensional aspects, Black Nationalism, and Machiavellianism. Discussion of Black History counts as a great necessity to give a clearer sense of the character’s background who described as an African-American male. Lastly, a descriptive method to analyze the problems and present the analysis is chosen to complete this study. The results of this study found innovative discussions on a Machiavellian character on the parameters of self-determination, nationalism, and racial prejudice. Killmonger’s Machiavellian character is categorized to have “cold” emotionality, lack of empathy, and manipulative. The study results also delivered fundamental truths about the current political and cultural situation in the United States, in which people still seek persistence in their everyday lives based on racial boundaries reflected by Killmonger’s mission as an African-American

    In Balinese people, there are allots of folklores that scattered in the society which they call Satua Bali. Narrowly, satua Bali is a story that spread out from generation to generation and words of mouth, it is not known who the creator as well. Meanwhile, in the broad sense, satua Bali is derived from the work of authors, whether it is used Balinese language or ancient Javanese language. There are many satua Bali still survive, one of them is satua Pan Balang Tamak. Pan Balang Tamak is the figure who has very clever character and he does not want to be lost by the villager. Because of his cleverness, the villagers and even the king hate him. And, the attempted to deceive him, but all of their efforts were in vain. Many moral values can be learned from the story of Pan Balang Tamak, that we are as individual as members of the public should not attempt to cheat, or deceive others. And, the brightness brain that we owned should be used to help others. Data was taken from the story which its existence in society, namely satua Pan Balang Tamak. Then, the data is collected by means of written discourse according to the topic above. The method suitable for the study which has written a language is a method refers to an advanced technique such as a technical note. Then, the result of data analysis technique uses a distributional method which works within the scope of language itself without linking it with outside matters

    Abstract Commonly, an amazing and attractive advertisement intends to hypnotize their target consumer in seeing, reading, or even hearing the ads continually. Besides, the power of persuading and motivating in messages from the way of informing product benefit could also give impact to buyer in deciding to buy the product. This research discusses the contexts of advertising found on packages of two Nestle products, especially Nestle Dancow Actigo and Nestle Dancow Enrich. These products were analyzed based on pictures or symbols and text found on packages. It is aimed at finding out the context of discourse advertising on those packages. Data were collected from analysis of text, including pictures or symbols and additional questionnaires distributed to 50 respondents located at Denpasar and Gianyar. Urban society were used to evaluate concerning on their understanding of English even though Indonesian language mostly applied on packages of products. Method used in analyzing data is descriptive qualitative and quantitative with simple statistics and explanation. It showed that connotation and denotation meanings highlighted lexical items and its cultural adaptation using process of copy adaptation to fit the culture of their targeted consumers. Means found 6 words or phrases of English from 10 of them on packages understood by 50 respondents as of: 35 for Full Cream as highest score and 16 respondents for FortiGro as the lowest score. In addition, brand name, symbol and images showed producer seemed to have close relationship with consumer and able to attract target   consumer attention as majority of findings. It can be concluded that ads on packages of Nestle Dancow had succeeded to be understood by the society through the messages implied

    Innovation of teaching and learning english applied to animal sciences’ student with the combination of computer media and audio visual

    Currently, knowledge era is not only concern on books but also technology use as the product to enhance the intellectual capability. This technology development can support the process of teaching and learning English in the classroom activities and language laboratory. Computer and audio visual is the essential media to assist a lecturer, besides books or hand out distributed to the students which also supported the method of teaching according to their needs. In this research, we have observed and analyzed 94 students from the Faculty of Animal Science in two different classes, 46 students in class A and 48 students in class B, year 2014/2015 by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) system for about one semester. Basically, collaborative materials were given on the scope of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking related to animals and their habits by using videos displayed that combined with ONIC DL-300 plus program provided at the English laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, Udayana University as the supporting element in teaching and learning English. The progress of learning English can be observed and analyzed from their result of evaluation in the classroom and language laboratory. In this case, the result of achievement evaluated from their final scores of soft skill including assignments and participation, practicum, mid test and also final test. It showed that 100% students passed the final range scoring in class A and 96% students passed in class B.&nbsp
