Consumable Material Spare Part Management Control in Electricity Transmission System

    Get PDF
Overstock spare part in the Electric Power Transmission System will affect the inefficiency in the asset management of the company. While the spare part stockouts in the company will disrupt the maintenance process of the electric transmission system, which then lead to power outages. Overstock spare parts are caused by several factors, such as forecasting errors in material requirements, intermittent requests, so it is difficult to determine the optimal order quantity. On the other hand, the unavailability of spare parts will affect the reliability of the electrical energy transmission system, which has the potential in causing a massive power outage. Monte Carlo simulations help to show the more concrete picture of the spare parts inventory condition using a periodic review (R, S) system approach. Divination of the combination of S and R parameters is very influential on the success of spare part control. Spare part classification is used for understanding the demand characteristics and the level of criticism. Moreover, the analysis of simulation results will show the information on supply fulfilment strategies to overcome the problems of either spare parts availability or spare parts overstock

PT. Mortars is an instant cement producer with many product variants. Some problems that PT. Mortars encountered are uncertainty of demand, limitation on production capacity, and inventory capacity, which caused product shortages and high inventory costs. The production scheduling process is produced manually so it requires a long time, relying on the ability and experience of the production planner which is vulnerable to mistakes. Therefore, new methods and tools are needed for inventory control and production scheduling to make sure goods are delivered to customer just in time while maintaining operational efficiency. Periodic review system (R,S) and (R, s, S) methods are proposed in this study to improve inventory parameters and reorder systems that have an impact on service levels and inventory costs. The tools are designed using Microsoft Excel software with solver add-ins functions and linear programming approaches to generate optimal production schedule decisions automatically. In order to determine the level of service and inventory costs generated by each method, a simulation is conducted by using the tools that have been made. The simulation of the existing method produces a service level of 98,64% and a total inventory cost of Rp. 1.167.160.494. The periodic review system (R, S) method resulted in increasing service level of 0,96% and lower inventory cost of Rp. 15.130.801 while the periodic review system (R, s, S) method resulted in increasing service level of 1,29% and a lower inventory cost of Rp. 448.653 compared to the existing method. The periodic review system (R, S) method produces the lowest inventory costs while the method (R, s, S) produces the highest service level compared to other methods

An interconnected series of the blood management is called blood supply chain management (BSCM). The stages of BSCM consisted of blood collecting, production, inventory, and distribution. The main challenges in BSCM are related to shortage, outdate, and supply chain cost which needed to minimize. Naturally, problems in BSCM are complex, it is not an easy task to find the solution. This complexity brought by several factors as follows: its inflicted risk, the uncertainty of supply and demand, blood nature as perishable commodity, demand uniqueness, and cost occurred. This research purposes was to review of various research related to BSCM and highlight opportunities to develop further research in blood supply chain (BSC). The result of this research is a suggestion on various possible future research to be explored in BSC, for example, developing an adaptive inventory model to support blood supply chain management that could be responsive toward demand fluctuation and developing collecting strategy to minimize shortage, outdate and incurred cost in supply chain level

Classification of sub-sectors in creative industry for regional economic development

    No full text
Creative industry represents a range of industrial activities that utilize creativity, skills, and personal ability for job creation and economic development of region. A critical step to develop and sustain the competitiveness of the industries is identification process of the sub sectors of the creative industry in a particular country or region. To obtain a better clsassification and region development priorities, this study adopts location quotient (LQ) and ant colony optimization (ACO) approaches, taking Jember as a case in this study. With many indicators, LQ method can classifiy a sector into more than one classification but it describe region demograph. ACO method have an acurate result of classification with many indicators but it doesn’t describe the demography of the region. The use of LQ-ACO method can support the government to develop a more feasible classification for the creative industry of sub sector and region priorities

Entrepreneurship is considered as one of the solutions to support the economy of a country. The rapid development of information and communication technologies introduces opportunities to create new digital ventures. Many giant companies successfully grow their business exponentially, although many of them do not even own products. Many countries, including Indonesia, are keen to support and encourage more people to build digital startups. There are many successes story about entrepreneurship ecosystems that contributes to the success of digital ventures. One of the critical factors of the success of an ecosystem is the availability of campuses that support innovations and talents. Thus, it is critical to find the optimum digital entrepreneurship ecosystem for education to produce new and sustainable digital entrepreneurs—this research attempt to find out the research trends in digital entrepreneurship ecosystems in higher education. The method used in this research was bibliometric analysis using three software, including Publish or Perish, Mendeley Reference Manager, and VOSviewer. The results are presented in a graphical network map of terms in several relevant keywords. This research concludes that while there are many studies about the entrepreneurship ecosystem during 2015-2021, few studied the development of digital entrepreneurship ecosystems in higher education. &nbsp

Mixing contract-based and on-demand sourcing of transportation services for improved supply chain performance under supply uncertainties

    No full text
With increasing demand volatility, companies must develop flexibility at multiple supply-chain stages, including in transportation. One method for doing this is combining long-term contract carriers with on-demand sourcing of transportation capacity from the spot market. In line with the growth of online riding services, on-demand sourcing for trucking services is now emerging. This study investigates mixing contract-based and on-demand sourcing for transportation services in the currently uncertain transportation supply. We describe the uncertainty stemming from the contract market’s rejection rate, the variability in terms of truck availability and response times, and the prices offered on the spot market. The situation is modelled using a discrete-event simulation approach to capture the complexity of the system. Our experiment indicates that greater reliance on the spot market could result in a better fill rate but lower delivery punctuality and higher transportation costs. The decision to mix contract-based and on-demand sourcing should consider uncertainty factors on the supply side, including (i) the rejection rate from contract-based carriers, (ii) the availability and waiting times for services from the spot market, and (iii) price uncertainty in the spot market

Analysis of Bittern Recovery Facility Using Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming: Centralized, Decentralized, and Hybrid Scenarios

The desalination process to produce salts leaves wastewater with a high concentration of minerals called bittern. Most salt producers dump bittern straight away. Such disposal is dangerous to the ecosystem since bittern may increase the environmental salinity. Furthermore, bittern still has potential as it contains minerals that can be extracted and offers value. Consequently, further bittern treatment is necessary to reduce the environmental impact and create a circular economy. However, some specific requirements are needed in determining how to carry out this recovery process. In that, recovery managers need to know the most suitable type and optimal operation variables. These are essential to meet cost-effectiveness and environmental benefits. This research proposes a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model for analyzing the supply and demand of the bittern recovery. This study offers a model to optimize the trade-off between cost and benefits of the recovery process. There are three scenarios to determine the best bittern recovery practices: centralized, decentralized, and hybrid scenarios. The proposed models are then tested and analyzed for their sensitivity due to essential parameters. The numerical analysis has shown that a centralized scenario is best suited for a region with a low bittern supply. Moreover, a hybrid scenario is best suited in an area with a higher bittern supply. In addition, a decentralized scenario is the most suitable option for a region where the number of salt farms is high, and the location is far from the recovery facility
